Two Recitals Planned By St. Mary's School St. Mary's High school music department will present two recitals this week. They 'are set' for Tuesday, May 2, and Wednesday, May 3,' and both will be in the school gym. ' nasium, West Eleventh and South Holly streets, at 8 p.m. Both programs will include piano, organ, and. vocal solos - and several numbers by the 82 voice Marian choir, Boys Glee club, and the . An additional feature this night will be two vocal solos with the Marian choir Irene McGowan, soprano, will 'sing Romany Life" from Victor Herbert's operetta "Fortune Teller". .Rlcco Carrara; hart tone will sing the solo in ''Ballad for Americans" a modern cantata by Earl Rob ; Inson. The' slides included pictures of the many temples,. the King and queen, of deals, buildings and scenes of the many activities of the Hindu men and women. The slides included some of the TajMahal, at Agra', India,' Known as the seventh wonder of the world,, and Colonel Mel rlng explained how it had been constructed at the order of Shah Jahan, the fifth Mo gul Emperor. Mrs. Peebles chose a beige flow ered silk drtiss with beige accessories. Their corsages were pink orchids. Mrs. Marlon Scudding, Wi nner, cut and served tha wed ding cake and Mrs. Robert Pearce presided at the punch bowl, , Mrs. Loy . Towse, Mrs. Robert Willlainson. Miss Susy Williamson, . Miss Margaret Engle and Miss Sharon Stev ens assisted. Miss Collien Mc Kenzle, Stayton, Ore., cousin of the bride, was in charge of the guest book. The bride attended Rogue River High school and Southern Oregon college. Mr.. Peebles attended Grants Pass High school and is operator of a Chevron Sta tion in Grants Pass. 'Showers of Flowers' Theme Phoenix Gardeners Choose Gardeners Plan Tour Medford Garden club has planned a tour as part of the monthly meeting Thursday, May 4. The tour will leave the Jackson coupty court house at 9 a.m. and the gar dens to be visited are those of Mrs. Eugene Orr, 3658 Old Military road; Mrs. Curtis L. Hopkins, 3775 Old Military road and Mrs. John Holmer, Box 243, Old Stage road. Those attending are asked to take a sacK lunch. "Our Feathered Friends" by the bird chairman, Mrs. J. W. Ostrander, will be given in the afternoon as well as a horticulture talk on lonicera tatarica roses by Mrs. E. M. Wallin. Four Clubs Plan Luncheon Monday Jacksonville - Past matrons clubs of the valley will meet Monday, May 1, at 12:30 p.m. for a no-host luncheon at the Masonic hall. Reames club will provide the afternoon entertainment. Also attending will be Al pha club, Ashland; Adarel, Jacksonville; and Nevlta, Cen Phoenix - "Showers of Flowers" is the theme chosen for the Phoenix Garden club for the annual spring flower show scheduled for Sunday, May 21, in the Phoenix Com munity club building. Mrs. Charles Lewis, gen eral chairman, has announced her assistants. They are Mrs. Chris Wolff, staging; Mrs. Olin Vi Poe,, horticulture clas sification, and Mrs. A. C. Lewis, artistic classification; Mrs. Charles Lewis,, horticul ture entries and Mrs. John Klassen, artistic entries; Mrs. Jesse Wilson, horticulture placement and Mrs. Lester Carr, artistic placement; Mrs. H. H. DeJarnett, hospitality; Mrs." Charles Johnson, tea; Mrs, ' Charles Lewis, judges and awards. -. The show will include the usual horticulture divisions for both adults and juniors and an artistic design divi sion.. There will be separate sections in the artistic ar rangement division for junior, novice, amateur, and ad vanced amateur exhibitors as well as one for entries by other garden clubs, A -new "bloom cycle" division, which is growing in popularity with Oregon Federation of Garden club members, will be fea tured in the Phoenix show this year. ' . Also of Interest is the iris show sponsored by the South, era Oregon Iris society which will be held in conjunction with the Phoenix club flower show.
