'-4. t y.t v -t It was storybook day not long ago at Wilson school, and the rooms were filled with queens, princesses,, pirates.sailors and Indians instead of ordinary Medford children. In the afternoon there was a colorful parade, .across the auditorium stage, with more than a hundred parents as the interested audience. Four . . of the storybook characters in the parade were (left to right) Montie Albright who impersonated Robin Hood, Richard Rose as Hiawatha, Randy Webb as Long John Silver from "Treasure Island" and Gordon Hageman as Tom Sawyer, the famous American boy created by Mark Twain. ...I o 'vt W-v" A'- K ' r i - CIS? f 1 1 1 ill iinw mJI . About 210 , pupils of the school took part In the event, planned by one of the teachers, Mrs. Ruth Kaye, to focus attention on National Library week and reading. . iteiPt'.' ' , I.' , - . ; I , ' ' fit' .i lil - - 1 . t " , t mr'' i i ' 'mi li i M'H ili'mm inn mi M i i mmw ii m m i t -J? . i Jefan Foley (at left) paraded as Mark Twain's character, Huckle berry Finn, and bright-eyed Carolyn Baumer was costumed as the title character of "Princess on the Glass Hill." i 'I' .1'' 9, i Some were beautiful, some were brave and some were bold in the annual storybook parade at Wilson school, Greg Jones (at left) won a prize of a silver dollar for his characterization of Ghengis Khan, the Mon gol who has come down in history as the world's greatest conqueror, Janet Konopasek was a sweet Cinder ella and Mark Chriss portrayed the adventurous Leif Ericson, son of Erie the Red, Norwegian discoverer of Real and fictional characters, some comic and some glamorous, from stories old and; new found their way Into the storybook parade af Wilson 'school. Joan Boat (at left) portrayed her favorite -fairy tale character, Little Red Riding Hood; Barry Leach was Plppl Longstock- i Ings, Pamela Salerlee appeared as the Queen of Hearts and Carolyn Baumer as "Princess -on' Glass Hill." Scott Sundby; who escaped ;, y ' .the photographer, won a prize for his costume as the Tin AAan from the Wizard of Oz. Costumes were judged for originality and . , ' '' : Ingenuity.
