Old Timers Car club Sunday, April 30. Members are asked to meet at 11 a.m. at the A and W Root Boer stand, Riverside ave, . and Jackson st., and will travel to the Indian Creek resort on Crowfoot rd., about 28 miles from Medford. . . Bill . Walsh, owner of ' the area and reservoir, announced that he Tiopes to fire up a team engine for a demonstra tion during the outing. He is also building a steam car of his own design. Auto Workers To : Decide on Goals - Detroit -OiPfl The United Auto Workers meets today to decide what it wants from the auto Industry in a new round of contract talks this summer. About 3,000 delegates at tending a special convention will adopt a specific set of goals for the UAW in the forthcoming negotiations with automakers. UAW President ' Waller P. Reuther was scheduled ' to open ,the convention with a keynote address outlining the union's broad objectives. Tonight the 3,000 delegates and 2,000 guests will attend an anniversary dinner mark ing the UAW's 25th birthday. The union ' was founded in South Bend, Ind., April 27, 1936. -i .- Ribicoff Wants To Debate AM A Head Washington-flJPD - Welfare Secretary Abraham A. Ribi coff has told the American Medical Association he wants to debate medical care for the aged with its president, and no one else. He eluded the group for suggesting a lesser official. ' F. J. L. Blaslngame, AM A executive vice president; had challenged Ribicoff to a de bate. Ribicoff replied that he would be glad to debate AMA President Dr. E. Vincent Askey.- - .' ' But the Health, Education and Welfare Department said Blaslngame had sent Ribicoff another telegram suggesting that the secretary debate with another AMA official Instead of Askey. ' , X15 Could Change Course of History Chicago '- IUPI) - Test pilot Scott Crossfield has compared the X15 rocket plane to the cotton gin, the locomotive and the automobile as a develop ment that could change the course of history. World leadership in prac tical, objective space-directed work , lies In the X15 and subsequent models of it," the former Navy pilot said. The United States might take the "practical".. lead In the space race with the X15, Crossfield told newsmen .Wednesday at the 32nd annual meeting of the " Aerospace Medical As sociation, v.. Crossfield, who did early experimental work with the X15, said the Soviet man-In-space feat is a "great step for ward." But, he said, the space race "Involves more than get ting a man into space. I real ly don't know who's ahead.!' Hospital Receives Copy of Pledge A ''copy of the Florence Nightingale pledge has been sent to Sacred Heart hospital by the business firm, Holllster Inc., in commemoration of Na tional Hospital week 1 May 7-13, according to Sister Luke, administrator at the hospital.
