The box on the roof contains spare' parts. In the trunk he has a 100-pound bag of rice, part of which cooks each night by the side of the road before curling up in a sleeping bag for the night. He has started on the second half of a proposed 20,000-mile combination good will and bride-finding tour. He is heading for New England, then cross country along the northern tier of states to. Jones, 50, who died at the Veteran's Administration Domiciliary, White City, Fri day, will L held at the White City chapel Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with Chaplain Roger Pry or officiating. Committal will be in the White City cemetery, with Perl Funeral home in charge of arrangement?. Mr. . Jones was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Martinez, Calif., and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include one sis ter, Mrs. Elsie M. Hankey of California. , .... ERNST A. STAMM Ernst August Stamm, 81, of 20 South Peach St., a paint ing contractor and a resident of Medford for the past 18 years, died unexpectedly yes terday morning while visit ing in Ashland. Fneral serv ices are tentatively set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Ar rangements will be announced by Chapel mortuary, i Water Runoff To Be About 90 Per Cent ' Although the water supply outlook for the 1961 water year' in. southern Oregon has improved by the March rains, the water year runoff at most points will be only 80 to 90 per cent of average. .. This was pointed out by Anthony J.- Polos, Portland hydrologist in charge of the river forecast center. It was explained that since much of the March precipita tion occurred as snow at high er elevations, the residual flow from April through Sep tember estimates have im proved. . Water supply forecast for south fork of the Rogue river predicts that the water year flow will be 87 per cent of average, with the residual flow 95 per cent of average. ZONING REQUESTS Ashland The Ashland city planning commission will re view proposed residential zon ing changes at its meeting to night at 8 o'clock in the city council, chambers. Proposed changes include making zone three a multiple dwelling unit area, with zone four single family unit,. The association, holding its three-day convention .'here, was to hear a presentation from oil industry, representa tives today., A resolution suggested by Jack Churchill of Nehalem en dorses HB1532, still in com mittee, but specifies that certain- safeguards be written into it, including: . . 1. That no drilling bition on pollution of any kind be allowed on beaches or' in state parks. , , 2. A specific prohibi . . 3. A hearing pro cedure patterned after that of the state public utility commissioner. . . 4. Full disclosure of exploration findings to the state on a confidential basis. . . 5. Services Tuesday For Mrs. Bostwick Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Beulah Bostwick, 3273 Biddle rd., Medford, who died Friday, will be conduct ed Tuesday at 10:30 ajn, in the Chapel in the Trees, with in Siskiyou Memorial park, with the Rev. Frederick R. Evans of the First Christian church officiating. The Pyth ian Sisters of Talisman Lodge No. 40 will participate in the services. Private interment will follow In Siskiyou Me morial park. Mrs. Bostwick was born Sept. 29, 1906 in Brownsville, Ou. On July 24, 1952, in Medford, she was married to Edward E. Bostwick, who survives. Mrs. Bostwick had been employed in several de partment stores in Medford as cashier. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Talisman Lodge and was the immediate junior past excellent chief of the lodge. She was tne fast Rani of the Nomads of Avru- daka, Idella Rogue lodge and had been royal advisor for the Pythian Sunshine Girls for the past five years. Surviving besides her hus band are three grandsons, Lanny Bostwick, U. S. Ma rines, Hawaii; Larry and Lo- ren, Bostwick, Medford; two eranddaughters, Layle and L a n a e Bostwick, Medford: and one great-grandchild, Al len Ray Bostwick, Medford A daughter preceded her in death In December, 1951. Family Homeless After Sunday Blaze Ashland Five members of an Ashland family were left homeless after a fire' destroy ed their house on Grandview dr. Sunday afternoon. Ashland firemen .were call ed to the Verne Gross resi dence at 4:20 p.m. where the roof of the house was blanket ed by flames. The fire raged out. of control before much could be done, firemen said. A few pieces of furniture and some appliances were saved. Mrs. Gross was cooking din ner when she noticed smoke outside. She asked her hus band where it was coming from, and he went outside to investigate. He summoned firemen after seeing the roof in flames. , Cause of the blaze Is un known, the fire department said today. The family in cludes two boys, ages 12 and 8, and a girl, 7. Dead are Charles Smith, 41, Arlington, Calif.; Caroline Ann Glanz, 18, Eugene, and Michael A. Hempe, 19, Port land. , . ':! Smith was Injured fatally Saturday night in a one-car accident 37 miles south of Jor dan Valley, Miss Glanz was crushed be-' tween a car and a power pole after being thrown from a car as a result of a two-car acci dent in Eugene Saturday morning. Hempe was killed early Sunday when the car in which he was riding hit a bridge abutment 10 miles east of Glascow, Montana.
