The proportion of cigarette smokers Is less in farmers, teachers, members of the ltgal profession, clergymen, doctors, dentists and veter inarians than in the general population. ; The study' was based on a sample of 43,068 persons who answered a questionnaire In cluding questions on smoking habits of men and women, Volunteer researchers of the American Cancer Society en rolled approximately 1,085, 000' persons in a prospective study planned for a six-year period of follow-up. Dr. E. Cuyler Hammond and Lawrence Garflnkel of the American Cancer so ciety's statistical research sec tion made the study, which they reported at the Society's science writers' seminar in St, Petersburg. t-Yet, both the interior and ex terior have that big house look. Kansas City, Mo. ,- (WD -Missouri's once -famed .mules have become so few that rec ords' on them no longer are kept, according to an annual report from the Kansas City Stockyards Co. The report counied by the million the number of cattle, calves, hogs and sheep receiv ed last year, but there was no mention of the mule.
