Tne soft-toned telephone sound is provided by the Bell Chime, a new development from Pacific Telephone-Northwest. A switch on the Bell Chime allows a choice of any one of three different signals - chimes, soft bell, or loud bell. According to J. H. Creager, local manager, the Bell Chime is available starting this week. Available in either gold or ivory, the Bell Chime is in stalled separately . from the telephone and can be placed in any part of the home. This does away with the need for bells in individual phones. "We expect the greatest de mand for Bell Chimes to come from residences where new phones or extensions are being installed," Creager said. "They should also prove popular with executive and profession al offices, ', small specialty shops, beauty parlors and oth er businesses."' . Two Reports of Bad Roads Received Guy Wolf, resident of the Foot's Creek area, reported to the Jackson county court yesterday that the road at the right fork of Foot's ' creek, east of Rogue River, needs oiling. t The road, 1V4 miles south of the bridge, is dusty, Wolfe said. - "The last time : the road was oiled was seven years ago. Shortly after that coun- ty road crews gravelled it," Wolf said.. G. O. Loomer, 806 Adams lane, Medford, reported to the county court that Graves Creek rd. west of Wimer needs repair, and that he had been "given the run around" when he tried to determine whether the U.S. forest serv ice or Jackson county is re sponsible for its upkeep.
