SUNDAY, MARCH 26. 1961 MEDFORD MATT, TRIBUNE, MEDTOTtft, k Sieg- Warren C eremony Held Central Point - An event of Saturday, March 18, was the wedding of Miss Linda Caro line Warren to Carl LeRoy Sieg, held at First Methodist church, Medford. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Warren, 57 North Ninth street, Central Point, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sieg, 2624 Walden place, Medford. The double-ring ceremony was read at eight o'clock In the evening by Dr. George Roseberry, and Mr. Warren save his daughter in mar riage. Arrangements of white stock and candelabra holding white tapers decorated the church, and white bows were on the pew ends. The bride's gown of white silk organza was fashioned with a billowing skirt adorn ed with lace inserts, and a Mr. and Mrs, Carl LeRoy Sieg (Linda Warren) are thown at the altar of First Methodist church following their wed ding March 18. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Warren, Central Point, and Mr. Sieg is a ion of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sieg, 2624 Walden place, Medford. The newlyweds drank the traditional wedding toast at the cere mony which followed the marriage rites. (Brainerd photo) ? t muiif f. " 1 T ' Ala' t ' ' large butterfly bow in back. Pearls outlined the neckline of the close-fitting bodice. Her chapel-length bouffant veil was also ornamented with pearls, and she carried white carnations and roses. . For "something old" the bride car ried her great-grandmother's bible with covers of cedars of Lebanon wood. Miss Carol Hohnstein, Ash land, was honor attendant and bridesmaids were the Misses Rosemary White, Ashland, and Janet Ayres, Central Point. Their cotton brocade frocks of aquamarine blue were worn with matching halos and blue veiling, made by the bride and matching slippers. They carried white carnations. Marcene and Rhonda Hoefs, Myrtle Point, Ore., cousins of the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer. They wore bouffant white nylon frocks and small lace hats. Perry Whitlock, Medford, was best man and ushers were Charles Warren, brother of the bride, and Daniel Sieg, brother t the bridegroom Mrs. Charles Champlin sang, and Mrs. Leslie Board- man was the organist. Reception Held The reception which lot lowed the ceremony was held at the church. The serv ng ta ble, covered with a lace cloth, ws decorated with blue and white carnations in keeping with the wedding colors, and these blossoms encircled the wedding cake. Mrs. Warren Holbrook and Miss Carol H t ris cut and served the cake, Mrs. Boyd Jones poured cof fee and Miss Charla Mey. .', the punch. Miss Joycelln Cam eron was it the guest book. and Mrs. Robert Hoefs, Myrtle Point, D'.nt of the bride, took charge of the gifts. About 140 guests .tlonded the .edding and reception. The ceremony is to be per formed at 2:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian church of Ashland, April 9. A reception will follow Miss Boswell was graduated from Medford high school in 1957 and Is presently em ployed by the Johnson Bak ery. Her fiance is an Ashland High school graduate and aft er his naval service became an officer of the Oregon State Police, Klamath Falls divi sion. A bridal shower honoring Miss Boswell was given March 17 at the home of Mrs. Har old Smith, 1140 Leland ave nue. Guests played games and winners were awarded prizes. Refreshments were served. Mrs. Jim Smith was co-hostess, i Guests Included the Mes dames Laura Applewhite and Paul Finneil, Ashland, and John Lisac Sr., Harry Fitzpat rick, Arthur Madsen, Jim Hobbs, Bert Grout, William Roahr, Maurice Hildcnbrand and Alvin Boswell, and the Misses Jeanne Hobbs, Shirley Boswell, sister of the bride, and Donna Smith. Wedding News Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. John A. Car ter, 1111 Reddy avenue, la.st week announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Janet Ann Carter, to Antonio J. Arana, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Arana, Sutherlin, in the Park Wedding chapel, Reno, Ncv. The Rev. Warren Ward of ficiated at the rites held last fall. Mrs. Arana Is a graduato of Medford High school and Oregon State university, where she was active In mu sic organizations. Mr. Arana is a graduate of Vale High school and Oregon State uni versity. He was a member of (he 1937 Rose Bowl football team and was affiliated with Sigma Nu fraternity. Mrs. Arana Is employed by Slate Farm Insurance. Mr, Arana Is with the shipping department at Medtord Cor poration. They are making their home at 235 South Oak- dale avenue. Arrington-Lytle Rites Announced Aihland - Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Arrlngton are making their home at 978 Bellview avenue, Asniann, loiiowing their marriage March 11 in Reno, Nevada. She is with the display advertising department of The Medford Mail Tribune, Mr. Sieg, a graduate of Medford High school, is a student at South ern Oregon college and Is em ployed at Eastside market. Grandparents Present Among the wedding guests were the bride's maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred T. Norris, 737 Siskiyou boulevard, Ashland, and the bridegroom's maternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs, Daniel Mix, 2542 Walden place, Med ford. Mr. Norris, who has liv ed in the valley 55 years, was mayor of Jacksonville at the time the county courthouse was moved from that town to Medford. The family moved to Ashland in 1937. In Medford for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wandell and Teresa, cousins of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wandell and Lynn, un cle and aunt of the bride, all Klamath Falls; Mrs. Virginia House, Eugene; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mellbye and family, Monmouth, Ore., and Robert Hoefs, Myrtle Point. A rehearsal dinner was giv en by the bride's parents Fri day, with 22 family members and guests attending. Attends Wedding Wililams Mrs. S. V. Find Ipv Williams, recently attend ed the wedding of her niece, Mrs. Patsy wooacocK, ior merlv of Provolt. to Peter Duane Back, Montrose, Colo. The couple was married in the First Baptist church of Montrose, and will live there. Annual Tea Announced ' "There will be music in the air at Hillcrest Orchards on the afternoon of April 14." This promise is made by Mrs. L. Scott Ellis and Mrs. Ivan Harrington, co - chairmen of the 1961 silver tea for the benefit of the American Can cer society. The tea is an an nual spring event at Hillcrest house, and is given by the Jackson County committee of the ACS. Many valley women coop erate with the committee to make it a gala occasion. Some Individuals loan personal col lections or items of interest for exhibit. Women's clubs and organizations enter floral arrangements in the contest which has been the principal feature of the tea in recent years. The addition of background music this year, to carry out the theme, "Music in the Air", will be a pleasant addition to the afternoon s entertainment, it is thought. The public is invited to at tend, and the hours will be 2 to 4:30 p.m. i Student Plays With Orchestra Marylhurst college chamber orchestra, in which Miss Lin da Smith of Medford is a vio linist, will be augmented by 11 members of Portland Sym phony orchestra when it ap pears in concert at the col lege this evening. The guest musicians include several Marylhurst graduates. Miss Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Smith, Route 2, Medford, and: is a freshman at Marylhurst.1 Miss Lynne Parsons, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Par sons, 2500 East Main street, was program chairman for St. Patrick's day festivities on the Marylhurst campus, which were handled by the freshman class. Pre-Easter Concert Set Today; Vocalists Listed Members of the Philhar monic Society guild will serve g ...... ..pw Co. Lynn Siolund, vocal music supervisor for Medford High school, will be on of the solo ists for today's concert to be given by the Philharmonic Society of Southern Oregon. Mr. Sjolund will sing the baas role in Haydn's "Seven Last Words of Christ" which will be the principal program num ber. Collins, Mrs. A. C. Allen Jr., Mrs. Oliver Y. Beard, Mrs. Ernestine Hartley, Ash land, and Mrs. Royal Bebb. Coffee and cookies are serv ed at Intermission time. The concert, to be directed by Richard D. Werner, will feature a chorus, orchestra and - soloists. Principal pro gram number will be Hay dn's famous composition, "The Seven Last Word of Christ." Soloists are to be Mrs. Sue Boe, Grants Pass, contralto; Mrs. Merle Morgan, soprano, Shady Cove; Paul Adams and Ronald Hollensted, both Grants Pass, tenors, and Lynn Sjolund, Medford, bass. Narrator will be Edward Humphrey, Medford, and Miss Virginia Dericksen will be or ganist. In addition, the orchestra will play Flotow's "Overture to Martha" and a Sinfonia by Bach. Dur- no is expected In Medford this afternoon from Washington to spend the Easter Tecess at his home on East Main street. Mrs. Durno preceded her hus band, arriving here several days ago from the capital. An informal reception spon sored by the Jackson County unit, Oregon Federation of Women's Republican clubs, will be given Friday, March 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Red Cross chapter house, 60 Hawthorne avenue, In honor of the Durnos. Len nox, Mrs. H. A. Stanley, Mrs. Doiph Phipps and Mrs. Curtis Medford Women On Island Tour Three Medford women have returned home after spending three weeks touring the Ha waiian islands. They are Mrs. Frances Flinn, The Plaza; Mrs. E. G. Trowbridge, Jack sonville highway, and Mrs. O. L. Overmyer, 610 South Holly street. They made the round trip by jet plane, leaving from Portland and returning by way of Seattle and Portland. They report the island flow ers as particularly beautiful at this season. L. Hopkins will serve cake Mrs. L. D. Ipskeep and a com mittee will greet guests at the door. The Durno's youngest daughter, Miss Kaye Durno, is expected this afternoon from San Francisco to see her par ents. While here Congressman and Mrs. Durno expect to spend considerable time with their sons-in-law and daugh ters, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hensley and children and Dr. and Mrs. Brian Stringer and small daughter. The Stringer's daughter, Susan Elizabeth, was born January, 17 shortly after the Durnos left for Washington. . Mrs. Durno was guest of honor Friday afternoon at a luncheon given by Mrs. B. L.
