"1 should make you write 100 times: 'It pays to drive carefully,' " he admonished her. A Bronx, N.Y., grammar-school teacher kept a naughty pupil after school. The pups whined, the mother barked, and the dog warden chopped holes in the floor. This caused a draft, so the teacher dismissed the class until further notice.
