FEBRUARY 12, 1961 Lustig-Keeble Ceremony Of Interest in Medford A wedding ol interest to valley residents was held Jan uary 28 in Newport Beach, Calif., when Miss Carlotta Anne Keeble, Newport Beach, became the bride of Paul Charles Lustig. The bride is a daughter of ;Mr. and Mrs. James B. Keeble, Bayshores, Newport Beach, "and the granddaughter of Mrs. Tloyd Hart, Medford and -Newport Beach. Mr. Lustig's "parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lustig, Grosse Pointe, .Mich. He is stationed at 1 rToro Marine Base, Santa Ana, Calif. The Rev. James G. Blaine Tofficiated at the ceremony -held at the Newport Harbor Lutheran church. ; The bride wore an after--noon length frock of white .satin fashioned with fitted :Concert Set On Monday ' Phoenix-The Phoenix Sen ior High school band and chorus will present a concert "Monday, February 13, at the ;high school gymnasium under ;the direction of Gary Monical. The program will start at 8 '.'p.m. and no admission charge 'will be made. Numbers to be played by the band will include "His -Honor," "Blue Fantasy," "Ma-rderia,!'- "Londonberry Air," ."Television Suite," and "Copa :Cabana.", , ; ; The Girls chorus will pre sent several selections, includ ing "The Bells of St. Mary's," i"Dry Bones," "In the Still of "the Night," and the "Sun Has Gone to Sleep." ' A triple trio will sing "The Old Lamplighter." The triple "trio includes Shari Miller, "Darilyn Popow, Kay Dem "mers, Jan Stone, Carole Mo trin, Linda Goble, Vicki Lati "mer, LaVonne Lanfear, and :Marian Troxel. ' : A trio, including Kay De Mers, Darilyn Popow, and "Dixie Davis, will sing "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." bodice and bell shaped pleated skirt. The bodice had a boat neckline, three-quarter length sleeves and large self covered buttons. A self belt tied in front with the streamers fall ing to the hemline. Her elbow length veil was held by a crown and she carried a bou quet of white carnations and stephanotis encircling a white orchid. Miss JillCagney was maid of honor and Miss Michelle d'Usseau was bridesmaid. Best man was Hart D. Keeble, brother of the bride, and John VanDyke, seated the guests. Following the ceremony a small reception -was held at the Balboa Bay club apart ment of the bride's grand mother, Mrs. Hart. Among those attending the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bergstrom, Bayshores, aunt and uncle of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Beaven, Manhattan Beach, Calif., cous ins of the bride; Mrs. Aimee Deuel, Medford; Jack Enders, Palm Desert, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Saycrs, Via Firenze, Lido Isle; Mr. and Mrs. George Rightenburg, Hubbard Lake, Mich.; Ranald Peeler, Corona del Mar, Calif., and Miss Dor othy Hannam, Glendale, Calif. ' f-' Student Elected To Campus Post In election held recently at Pacific Union college, Ang- win, Calif., Miss Gladys Bed doe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Beddoe, Carpenter Hill road, was elected presi dent of the Women of Alpha Gamma, the campus organiza tion for dormitory women. Miss Beddoe, who is a 1958 graduate of Medford High school is a junior pre-medical student majoring in social studies. Celebrated By Couple Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ballance former Medford residents now living in Boulder, Colo., were honored recently on their 25th wedding anniversary. The event was celebrated at an open house January 22 in Boulder. Miss Mary Jean LaRue was in charge of arrangements and Mrs. Virginia LaRue was host ess. Rooms were decorated in pink and white. Two of the Ballances' daughters, Karen and Eileen, greeted guests. Others assisting were Mrs. Emma Henderson, and Mrs. Charles Leibbrand, both for merly of Medford, Mrs. Sylvia Parsons and Miss Marlene Frazier. Mr. and Mrs. Ballance were married in Patoka, 111., and lived in Medford for 14 years before moving to Boulder in 1956. Their son, Elvin, is employ ed by the Federal Aviation agency, Albuquerque, N.M.; their daughter, Karen, attends Central Business college, Den ver; Eileen is a sophomore in Boulder High school; and an other daughter, Maxine, atr tends Foothills school. Out-of-town guests at the event included Mr. and Mrs. Leibbrand, now living in Den ver. Valentine Party Set For Monday The annual valentine party for all Scottish Rite Masons and their ladies will be held February 13 at 8 p.m. in the Masonic temple. Scottish Rite Women's club sponsors the event. "Sweethearts" will be the theme. Card games and other en tertainment, with refresh ments, are planned. Mrs. Fred Graten is chairman. Others on the committee are Mrs. Ross McVay, Mrs. J. F. Ward, Mrs. Clay Lee, Mrs. E. H. Taylor and Mrs. Edward Pease. 4 Couple Leaves Gold Hill - Mr. and Mrs. Richard Arp from Golden dale, Wash., have returned to their home after spending some time in Gold Hill. While here they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Jones. Valentine Event Planned by Club Reamcs Social - club will hold a Valentine luncheon Wednesday, February 15, at noon in the dining room of the Medford Masonic temple. All members of 'the Order of the Eastern Star are invited. Mrs. Donald Ashpole, presi dent, will preside. Following the luncheon there will be a short business meeting and cards. Mrs. William W. Jackson will be the chairman for the luncheon and will be assisted by Mrs. Glen Hale, Mrs. Don ald Chase, Mrs. George Wi mcr, Mrs. Frances Bean and Mrs. Lily B. Russell. Get Together club will spon sor a public card party Friday, February 17, at Girls Commu nity club. i Dessert will be served at 1 p.m., with cards to follow. Footlighter Officers Announced Dr. Lawrence Ware was elected president of Medford Footlighters, little theater group, at the annual session last Monday night. Dr. Ware succeeds Robert Ford. Other new officers are Mrs. Alvin Reiss, vice president; Mrs. Jim Foster, secretary; Mrs. Roy Keim, treasurer; Frank Buchter, executive producer; Mr. and Mrs. Ford, Mr. Reiss, members-at-large. Retiring officers are Mrs. Ford, vice-president; M r s. Keim, secretary; Mrs. Helen Ashley, treasurer; Mr. Buch ter, business manager. Members of the club ex pressed their gratitude to the retiring officers for the lead ership they have given the group and "the many accom plishments brought about dur ing their term of office." In the past year the club has reorganized and passed a new constitution. Groundwork has been laid to expand club activities into such fields as a drama festival and a drama workshop which would be open to anyone interested in studying theater arts and crafts, it is reported. The four plays produced in the last year have drawn a record breaking attendance of 1,774 persons, an increase of about 500 over the previous year. Theater-goers on the Footlighter mailing list are 608 as opposed to under 400 last year. Dr. Ware commented that these accomplishments, while showing healthy growth, are but a fraction of the group's potential. He stressed that the club must expand it's working membership and it's theatrical endeavor to become a major cultural force in the community. Grand Master To Be Visitor Charles Goold, illustrious master o Table Rock council, Royal and Select Masters, an nounces that D. Lynn Wood son, Portland, grand Illustri ous master, will make an offi cial visit to the council Tues day. February 14. Tl-e meeting will start at 8 p.m. aud will be preceded by a covered dish dinner at 6:30 p.m. for members and their wives. The council will fur nish the meat dish and mem bers are asked to bring a vegetable, salad or dessert Convention Plans Made At District Board Session Plans for the annual con vention of First district of the Oregon Federation ot Wom en's clubs, were made at a district board meeting Tues day in the banquet room at Kim's. ' The convention will be held Thursday, April 4 in Bethany Presbyterian church, Grants Pass. Mrs. William R. Harms was named general chairman. Mrs. Clay M. Lee Medford, First district president, pre sided. She introduced Mrs. Fred C. Cast, Portland, stale president; Mrs. Ralph Foster, Ashland, state chairman of mineral and wild life, and sec ond vice president of this dist rict; and Mrs. William - E. Sweet, Medford, state charr man of the education depart ment for the Junior council and secretary of First district. Others introduced were Mrs. H. J. Stephens. Rogue River, first vice president; Mrs. Wil liam E. Boone, Medford, treas urer; Mrs. Jack D. Brummond, Medford, corresponding secre tary; Mrs. Jason Ottinger, Medford, parliamentarian and past district president; Mrs. Carl W. Peterson, junior past president and chairman of the board of directors. Mrs. Lee welcomed the group and gave a report on the state board meeting, held in Portland, January 30 and 31. Miss Collman, James G. Olsen Set Wedding Day Talent-Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Lee Beck, route 1, box 30, Talent, announce the engage ment and approaching marri age of their daughter, Ruth Ann Collman, to James Galen Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Olsen, San Francisco, Calif.1 Miss Collman is a graduate of Talent High school. Mr. Olsen was graduated from San Francisco High school and served two years in the U.S. Navy. He is employed by Ed Ross Mobil Service station, Medford. The couple plan a March 17 wedding at the Church of Jesus Christ or Latter-day Saints church in Ashland. They will live in the Talent area. Past Matrons Plan Meeting Monday Adarel Past Matrons will meet for a dessert luncheon Monday, February 13, at the home of Mrs. Wallace Brill, 75 Lozier lane, at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Fred Ryde will assist the hostess. , Mrs. Lynabel Deck, Rogue River, conservation chairman; Mrs. Jessie Cooley, Grants Fass, education chairman; Mrs. Robert Billingsley, Med ford, fine arts chairman; Mrs Roy Nye, Ashland, Interna tional Affairs chairman; Mrs. Ralph O. Chapin, Grants Pass, public affairs chairman; and Mrs. Edward C. Root, Med ford, chairman of the Council of International clubs, all gave reports. Resumes of work done by the various clubs of the dist rict were given. Reporting were Mrs. Gene Denning, Illinois Valley Federated Women's club; Mrs. William R. Harms, Grants Pass Wom en's Federated Breakfast club; Mrs. William R. Burkelt, Rogue River Civic Improve ment club; Mrs. Foster, Ash- and Women's Civic club; Mrs. Ray Burnett, Talent Federat ed Women's club; Mrs. Jack D. Brummond, Travel Study club; and Mrs. Gene Chamber lain, Medford Junior Women's club. Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Norman Wade, and Mrs. Eugene In gram gave reports for the ex tension committee. First dist rict is the only district in the state to score a 100 per cent in extension at the state board Returns Mrs. Effie Reynolds, 21 North Peach street, has re turned home after spending a two month vacation with her brother and sister-in-law in La Crosse, Wise. She also visited other relatives and friends while there. In Kansas City, Mo., she was a guest in the home of another brother and family. meeting, it was said. Mrs. Lee appointed Mrs. Robert Haworth, Medford Junior Women's club, as his torian. A no-host luncheon was served at noon, with tables decorated in the valentine mo tif. Mrs. Root gave the invoca tion. Medford Junior Women's club was hostess for the day. Mrs. Bren Starcher was a guest for the luncheon. Mrs. Cast, guest speaker, told of the "fine results of the Institutes that were held throughout the state last fall." She also told of representing the Oregon Federation of Women's clubs at the Oregon legislature, where she spoke on the resolutions that were adopted at the slate board meeting, urging the control of obscene material and pornog raphy. She urged members of the Federation to attend the West ern Conference, March 14, 15, and 16 at the Sheraton hotel, Portland, when the Oregon Federation will be hostess to the western division of the General Federation of Wom en's clubs. Mrs. Foster also reported on the state board meeting. Mrs. Lee appointed Mrs. Brummond, Mrs. Chamber lain, Mrs. Burnett, and Mrs. Foster to make plans for a "Day in Court" in Jackson county; Mrs. Burkett, Mrs. Harms, and Mrs. Denning to plan a "Day in Court" in Jose phine county; and Mrs. R. T. Lindley, Klamath Falls, to set up a day in Klamath county. Msr. Lee adjourned the meeting after reading a thought for the day stating that a priceless ingredient in every work of "quality" is someone's honor.
