CATHERINE M. LIBEU The body of Mrs. Catherine Marianne Libeu, 89, of 936 Grant ave., who died Thurs day, is being forwarded by Qonger-Morris, funeral direc tors, to Los Angeles for serv ices and interment. Mrs. Libeu was born in Isor, France, Dec. 28, 1871. She moved to San Francisco in 1885 to join her parents,, and in 1891, in Los Angeles, she was married to John B. Libeu, who preceded her in death in 1926. She had lived in Med ford for the past eight years with her daughter, Mrs. Ryan. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Ryan, Medford; and Mrs. Robert Aldrich, Mrs. Robert Mobley, and Mrs. Walter Mobley, all of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Charles Walters, of Redondo Beach. Calif.; four grandchil dren and 10 great grandchil dren. Another daughter, Mrs. Robert Calef, died in 1951. The family requests tnai memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart hospital building fund. FRED SURRAN Funeral services for Fred Surran, 82, who died in Jack sonville, will be held at Perl Funeral home Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. T. S. Ga- pen will officiate. Committal will be in the Missouri Flats cemetery. Mr. Surran was born April 26, 1878, in Maple Valley, Mich., and had been a resi dent of the Jacksonville area for 2VS years. Survivors inclue two sons, Alfred Surran, Grants Pass, Wesley Surran, Applegate; one daughter, Beverly Guches, Applegate; and one sister, Mrs. Delia Parker, Medford, MRS. MARY E. MORTON Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Eleanor Morton, 80, of 111 Third St., Ashland, who died Wednesday In a local hos pital, will be held at Ashland Mortuary Chapel, Fourth and C sis., Ashland, Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. B. J. Hol land of the First Presbyterian church will officiate. Commit tal will be in Mountain View cemetery. Mrs. Morton was born Feb. 28, 1880, in Staten Island, N.Y. Her husband, Louis J. Morton preceded her in death several years ago. She had been a resident of Ashland since 1942, and was a member of the First Presbyterian church. Survivors include a brother, Clem Adamson, Lakeview, Ore.; a brother-in-law, M. F. Dietze, Ashland: and two nieces. The family requests that contributions may be made to the building fund of the First Presbyterian church. Peter Gunriar May Run Against Morse Salem (UPU Peter Gunnar, who resigned Thursday as Re publican state chairman, indi cated he may run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Wayne Morse (D-Ore.), whose term expires in 1062. Gunnar said his resignation as head of the GOP in Oregon did not mean an end to po litical activity. "Politics gets in the blood," he added. Gunnar declined to discuss his plans, but he did not deny suggestions he might seek Morse s seat. He also declined to rule out the chance he may seek a seat in the state legislature.
