Hutchison, wedding re ception; Mrs. Brian B. Mullen and Mrs. Hibbs, bazaar, and Mrs. William S. Cobb, pub licity. Mrs. Davis reminded the group that the family night dinner will be held Wednes day, January 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Fellowship hall of the church. Those attending are to bring a salad and hot dish. Child care will be provided during the dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7:30 o'clock. The board of the associa tion is planning a rummage sale for February 7 and 8. A plaque designating the purpose of the association was presented by Mrs. Lenox. The Rev. Reynolds was honored at the meeting with the pre sentation of a golf jacket and golf shoes. They were present ed by Mrs. Dellenback on be half of the association. New officers held their first meeting January 10 at the church. 4 Author Visits In Gold Hill Gold Hill - Dr. Gordon C. Baldwin, Tucson, Ariz., re cently visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Baldwin and his sister, Mrs. Joe Kavaleski at their homes on Maple Lane near Gold Hill. During the past six years, Dr. Gordon has written nu merous Western novels that have been published in Amer ica, England, Norway, and Sweden. He is a member of Western Writer's of America, and advertising manager for that group's magazine "The Roundup". Dr. Gordon was formerly an archaeologist with the Na tional Park service. He is a native Oregonian but has re sided in Arizona most of the time since 1928. Among his books are "Sun down C o u n t r y", "Travel North", "Ambush Basin", and "Brand of Yuma". 1 . Group to Mark 25th Anniversary The auxiliary to Jackson County chapter. Disabled American Veterans auxiliary, will celebrate its 25th anniver sary with a potluck dinner at the Girls' Community club, Monday, January 18, at 6:30 p.m. Members of the chapter are also invited to attend the event. Durno of Medford will bo among those attending the inauguration of President elect John F. Kennedy in Washington this week. Mrs. Durno ii pictured here in the living room of their East Main street home wearing one of the suits which she took with her to the capital. It is beige colored lace trimmed with a brown mink collar. Congressman and Mrs. Durno are living in an apartment hotel until they find permanent quarters. Mrs. Frank Christian, Talent, will wear this blue and silver formal gown for the ball which will follow the inaug uration of John F. Kennedy as president of the United Slates in Washington, D.C. Friday, January 20. The bodice is of silver brocade and the narrow, floor-length skirt and bodice accents are of royal blue velvet. Mrs. Christian will wear rhinestone necklace, earrings, bracelet and hair ornaments with the gown, and slippers with rhinestone heels, Mrs, Christian, who plans to attend all the gala events, packed a brown and green-striped tailored walking suit to wear for the formal Inauguration, and a black fur-trimmed afternoon suit tor the reception for distinguished ladies. Mrs. Christian and her husband have been active in the Democratic parly for many years, and she is president of the Oregon Lion's auxiliary. Sorority Plans Party The second annual benefit dessert-bridge party sponsored by Delta Gamma Rogue Val ley Alumnae association will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 21, in the Red Cross building. Mrs. T. J. Tinsley and Mrs. Karl Clinkenbeard are co chairmen. Mrs. Kenneth Bart- lett, Ashland, is decoration chairman; Mrs. Richard Strat- ton, Central Point, tickets: and Mrs. John Cotton, Ash land, prizes. The lesson topic to be presented will be family life. Meeting Tuesday. January 17, will be the Shady Cove unit at the home of Mrs. Frank D. Linden, Shady Cove, The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. with Mrs. Byron E. Crav en giving the lesson. Baby sitting will be avail able from Mrs. David C. Ber gren, TRinity 8-2626. Thursday, January 19, the Lone Pine group will meet at the Roxy Ann grange at 10:30 a.m. Project leaders will be Mrs. W. E. Acord and Mrs. Lorene Babcock. Cohostesses will be Mrs. L. K. Mrs. Kavn will review "Hunzaland," by Allen Banik, and Mrs. Watkins will present a selected subject. Mary Bakken, Carl Skyrman Engaged To Wed Mr. and Mrs. Joseph I. Bak ken of Honolulu, Hawaii, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ingrid, to Carl Skyrman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Skyrman, Cen tral Point. Miss Bakken is a graduate of Oregon State college where she was affiliated with Kappa Delta sorority. She is present ly Interning in dietetics at the University of Washington in Seattle. Mr. Skyrman, a graduate of Crater High school, is now attending Oregon State col lege, majoring in landscape architecture. No wedding date has been set. lima -mr. Following the luncheon there will be cards for those who wish to play. All mem bets of the Order of the East ern Star are invited. Mrs. Don ald Ashpole, president, will preside. Mrs. Ira Canfield will be chairman of the luncheon, as sisted by Mrs. C. D. Wood, Mrs. Jack Clark, Mrs. Glenn Linn and Mrs. John Jensen. Sharon Ann Roberti (Landli photo) July Wedding Planned by Pair Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Roberts, 1333 Murray street, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Sharon Ann, to Dustin Gcrbing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ger bing, 2154 Kings highway. Miss Roberts, a 1959 grad uate of St. Mary's High school, is employed by the Medford branch of Foster and Marshall, members, New York Stock Exchange. Her fiance is a graduate of Eagle Point High school and Is em ployed by the Medford school district. The couple plans a mid July wedding. McLeod Families Away for Winter McLeod - Several families have left the area to spend several months in other slates and cities. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barber spent the holidays In Cali fornia with their son and daughter-in-law, Lt. and Mrs. Richard Barber, prior to sail ing from San Francisco for Honolulu. They plan to return to the Mainland in April. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cham berlain spent the holidays with friends in Boulder City, Nevada, and then continued to Florida. They will return to their home the latter part of March.
