Smith, immediate past presi dent of Oregon Education as sociation, will speak at the Wednesday, January 4, meet ing of the Medford branch, American Association of Uni versity Women. Her talk will follow the year's theme, "Windows to the World," and the topic will be "Education Washes the Windows." The meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Stuart V. McQueen, 2136 Hillcrest road, at 8 p.m. Mrs. John C. Glynn, branch higher educa tion chairman, is in charge of the program. Assisting the hostess will be Mrs. Thomas McCamant, Mrs. S. C. Jones Jr., Mrs. Samuel Poirier and Mrs. Ralph A. Wicse. Des Moines Pair Medford Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Charles How ard, Des Moines, I3., were guests in Medford of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Hibbs, 190 White Oak drive, for the Christmas holidays. They have continued to San Fran cisco from where they are em barking on a cruise to the Orient. n Returns , Mrs. Julia Vakoc, 214 Col lage street, returned Thurs day from a week's visit in Santa Monica, Calif., where she was a guest of her grand daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Warren. Mr. Christensen is a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Christensen, 183 Black Oak drive. Mr. Friend escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The Rev. Robert Jacks sang for the double ring wedding. Baskets of pink chrysanthe mums decorated the church. The bride wore a floor length gown of white taffeta fashioned with empire waist line, three-quarter length sleeves and scoop neckline. The neckline and flared skirt were accented with appliqued guipure lace. Her fingertip length veil of illusion was held by a lace and pearl cap and taffeta rose and she car ried a bouquet of garnet roses. She also carried a white em broidered handkerchief which had belonged to her great grandmother. Miss Judy Christensen, sis ter of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids and matron were Miss Susan Knight, Miss Louise Schroe der, Salem, and Mrs. Dan Avila, Modesto, Calif. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Jill Christensen, sister of the bridegroom. They wore satin frocks with matching accessories. Their headdresses were Newlyweds At Home In Medford Mr. and Mrs. Del Roy Mar quez are making their home at 824 Cedar street, following their wedding December 21 at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Afton Root, route 2, box 203F, Medford. The bride is the former Marian Shaw Talbot, daugh ter also of H. E. Shaw, Ogden, Utah. Mr. Marquez is a son of Mrs. C. June Barker, Mill City, Ore., and A. Marquez, San Luis Obispo, Calif. Bishop Dwaine Nelson of the Medford Second Ward of I he Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiated at the 7:30 o'clock ceremony, at tended by families and close Iriends ot tne couple. The ceremony was held on the 74th birthday of the bride's grandmother. The bride wore a cream and gold sheath dress and carried a bouquet of white roses. green leaves and white and silver bells. Miss Joyce Ann Dillard at tended the bride. She wore a golden brown frock. Little Terry Ann Talbot was flower girl for her mother. Roger Larson, Central Point, served as best man. Following the ceremony a reception was given by Miss Dillard at 824 Cedar street White roses, white bells and white candles decorated the room and serving table. The bride attended Ogden Utah, school and is a waitress at Brown's cafe. Mr. Marquez attended Woodburn High school and Benson Technical Institute, Portland, and is cm ployed by Rogue Transporta tion company, Ashland. matching saiin bows and held short net veils. The honor at tendant Jwas in American beauty red and carried a bou quet of pink carnations, red roses and clusters of long needle pine. The other attend ants wore frocks of frosted pink and carried bouquets of deep rose and red carnations and pine needle clusters. Harold Friend served as best man for his brother. Seating the guests were Gary Safley, Wayne Pounds and John Holmes, all Eugene, and Greg Milnes, Salem. For her daughter's wedding and the reception which fol lowed Mrs. Friend chose a beige lace dress with match ing accessories. Her flowers were two shades of red carna tions. Mrs. Christensen wore a blue lace dress with match ing accessories and pink carnations. Mrs. Robert Sleeter and Mrs. James McCoy, cousin of the bride, cut and served the tiered wedding cake. Mrs. Douglas Hinesly and Miss Maureen McCurdy presided at the punch bowls. Mrs. Gene Fields poured coffee and Miss Karen Johnson was in charge of the guest book. Miss Theresa Elzea and Miss Rosaline Hewitt were at the gift table. 1 The newlywed couple trav eled to Oceanlakc on their wedding trip, the bride wear ing a brown and black tweed suit with black accessories and a rose corsage. They will make their home at 1549'2 Mill street, Eugene. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and is a senior at Sa cred Heart School of Nursing in Eugene. Mr. Christensen also graduated from Medford High school and is a senior in the school of business at the University of Oregon. Among the out - of - town guests attending were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis, Yankton, S. D., grandparents of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Niles and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Schonebaum, Kla math Falls. Festive Party Has Cruise Theme Among the festive New Year's eve parties given last night was one hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Y. S. Chrislianson and Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Deuel at the former's home on Val ley View drive. Thirty guests were bidden. These included Maxwell Peirce, Mrs. Chris- tianson's son who came up from San Francisco for the event and plans to return south this morning. He is man ager of the Canterbury hotel in the Bay city. ' "Slay-at-home" cruise was the party theme and decora tions included ship pennants, bon voyage articles and mini ature ships. Women guests received leies. The invitations, which cov ered two legal-size sheets of paper in red ink, were the work of Mrs. Deuel. She in corporated amusing notes on who would entertain, using the names of the guests, gave suggestions as to the proper attire for the party and com ment about the party menu. Mr.' and Mrs. John B. Bone, 1 609 Oregon avenue, are spending the holidays in the Hawaiian islands. They made the trip to Honolulu aboard the Malson Lines' SS Malsonia, which tailed from San Francisco in mid-December. Martin, 926 South Ivy street, in a cere mony December 16 at the former First Church of God. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Dorothy A. McCormick, 1980 Orchard Home drive. and Charles E. McCormick, route 2, box 668, Central Point.' The Rev. W. E. Martin of ficiated at the double ring rites held at seven o'clock in the evening. The ceremony was attended by 50 relatives and friends. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a white silk dress accented with sequins. She carried a bou quet of pink and white carna tions. Mrs. Duane Lisac, cousin of the bride, attended the bride. She wore a black frock with pink cummerbund. Her flow ers were pink carnations. Barry Hurd served as best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Mc Cormick home on Orchard Home drive. The newlywed couple tra veled to Eugene on their wed ding trip, the bride wearing a blue dress. The bride and bridegroom attended Medford High school. Mr. Martin is in the U. S. Navy, Visitors Here The Rev. and Mrs. John W. Roelfs, Dakota avenue, had as guests for the holidays her brother, Lewis Smith, Los An geles, Calif. Mrs. Roelfs mother, Mrs. Mary Smith ac companied Mr. Smith to Med ford. She will make her home with the Roelfs. Family Returns To Central Point Central Point Mr. and Mrs. Wis Clay and their son, Wayne, have returned to their home at 214 Alder street, Central Point. Mr. Clay re cently retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. His service includ ed North Atlantic patrol duty, convoy duly to Murmansk, Russia; neutrality patrols to Newfoundland. Iceland, and Greenland; serving on destroy ers in the Pacific; participa ting in a world goodwill tour; standing-by in the Formosa crisis, protecting Quemoy, and prior to his discharge, serving as manager of the Ream Field Chief Petty Officers' club, Im perial Beach, California. Mr. Clay is now attending Robertson's School of Busi ness in Medford. Mrs. Clay is a daughter of Mrs. Henry Mueller, 220 South Third street. Central Point. Their son. Wavne. is attending Crater High. To Gary Alvin Gasaway a wedding trip The wedding of Miss Sheila Ann Spcnce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Stafford Spencc, 118 Medford heights, to Gary Alvin Gasaway, Her miston, took place Tuesday, December 27, at St. Mark's Episcopal church. The bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvis P. Gasaway, 921 Highland avenue, Hermislon. The Rev. George R. V. Bol ster performed the double ring ceremony at four o'clock in the afternoon before about 35 guests. White chrysanthe mums decorated the altar and while bows with Christmas ornaments marked the pews. Mrs. Ernest Conrad was or ganist. Acolytes were Fred Lorish Jr. and Donald Kcngla. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a street-length white satin dress with a bell-shaped skirt, a set in self belt and elbow-length sleeves. The neckline was scoop shape, and her waist length bouffant veil was held by a large white satin rose. She also wore a necklace which was a gift from the bridegroom. Her flowers were stcphanolis and carnalions, carried on a white Bible. Miss Marcia Lou Spcnce was maid of honor for her sis ter. She wore a gown of sap phire blue, styled like that of the bride's, and curried a cres cent shaped bouquet of while carnalions. Lowell Saylor, Echo, Ore gon, was best man. Serving as ushers were Ralph Lee, Richland, Wash., cousin of the bridegroom, and Peter Cas tric, Hermislon. A reception for I he newly weds followed at the church. Baskets of holly and blue and white chrysanthemums deco rated the room. For the event the bride's mother wore a blue-grey wool dress with white satin hat and a corsage of red baby rose buds. The bridegroom's moth er chose a wood-violet crepe dress with beige accessories and a corsage of pink baby rosebuds. Mrs. Carl Meyers and Mrs. Gerald Burton, Florida, (nee Barbara Gordon, Medford) cut the wedding cake. Mrs. Kenneth V. Howard poured coffee and Miss Kama Gasa way, sister of the bridegroom, poured punch. Miss Alexa Ilibbard took charge of the guest book and Miss Janet Perry was at the gift table. The bride, a graduate of Medford High school and Ore gon State college, is director of health, physical education and recreation at the Salem Young Women's Christian as sociation. The bridegroom, a graduate of Hermislon Senior high school, is a senior in ag ricultural enqinecring at Ore gon Slate. She Is a member of Alpha Phi social sorority and was charter honored queen of Hetnel 00, interna tional Order of Job s Daugh ters, In Medford. He is a mem ber of Kappa Sigma frater nity. The young couple will re side at 412 Capitol street, Southeast, Salem, on their re-1 turn from north. Those coming from out of town for the wedding includ ed the bridegroom's father and brother, David, Hermis lon; the bridegroom's grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Parsons, Dayton, Wash.; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Parsons, and children, Ryan and Evanna, also of Dayton; Lt. Gerald Burton, Florida; Miss Yvonne Carson and Bill Carson, Junc tion Cily; and Lt. Jerry Carl ton Neill, San Diego. The bride's parents were hosts at a rehearsal dinner December 26 at their home. Prior to the bride's coming to Medford, she was honored at a shower given by the board of directors and person nel at the Salem YWCA. Wedding Held Christmas Day The Chapel of the Star was the scene of the wedding Christmas day of Mrs. Eliza beth May Reeves to Earl H. Hanscom. The marriage vows were read by the Rev. Marie Headlec by candlelight. Lawrence Anderson gave his mother In marriage and Mrs. Dale Eldred, a daughter of the bride, was matron of honor. Carl Anderson, anoth er son of the bride, was best man for Mr. Hanscom. Bonnie and Shirley Miller were acolytes and Donna Mil ler was ring guardian. Jane Miller took charge of the guest book. The bride wore a travel suit of blue and grey with a corsage of pink rose buds. The newlyweds will be at home at route 2, box 069, Cen tral Point, after January 15. Rainbow Girls List Officers; Ceremony Set Line officers for Warren assembly, Order of Rainbow for Girls, were announced at a recent meetimr at the Jack sonville Masonic temple. They Include Miss Mary Beth Housel, advisor; Miss Lona Buffington, associate ad visor; Miss Cora Havcnor, charity; Miss Marilyn Smith, hope, and Miss Mary Satter field, faith. Gail Buffington, new wjir-t shipful master of Warren Ma sonic lodge, was introduced. He presented the new mother advisor, Mrs. Gertrude Win-ningham. The new officer! will be installed at the next meeting Thursday, January 12, at 7:15 p.m. at the temple. Miss Janice Armstrong, ad visor, announced that a fire side party will be held at her home, 714 Park street, Med ford, Monday, January 2, at 7:30 p.m. A surprise parly was held for the girls by the Rainbow Mothers club after the meet ing. Gifts were exchanged. Mrs. C. P. Uhrhane of New York City is visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mueller, and also at the homes of her sisters, Mrs. Clay and Mrs. Robert G. Harper and Mr. Harper, 230 Alder street. Leave for East Gold Hill - Lt. and Mrs. George Christensen and daughter Karen left Decern ber 27 for Fort Belvoir, Va., to reside. He will take ad vanced officers training. The Christcnsens were guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Christensen, Gold Hill, during the Christmas holiday. Prior lo their visit with his family, the couple were guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Trent, Dal las, Tex. The lieutenant recently re turned to the U.
