The bride is the daughter of Mr. and -Mrs. Moore Hamilton, 43 Kose avenue, and the bride groom's parents are the Rev. and Mrs. Louis Samson, La Grande, Ore. The marriage service was read at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon at St. Mark's Epis copal church with the bride groom's father, pastor. of the La Grande Presbyterian and the Rev. George R. Her marriage to Mr. .Samion, held December 27 at St. Mark's Episcopal church, was one of the many large wed dings which marked the holiday season in the Rogue valley this winter. Music .was pro vided by the Bill Hannford quartet. The theme was "Winter Wonderland." Life-sized snow men, poinscttia table decora tions, modernistic snowflakes and a sleigh- scene were all accented by-blue lighting; Queen Mary Jo is a daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bat zer. Miss Batzer was escorted and crowned by Michael Moore, a freshman at Poil land university. Princeim for the event were (lilt Bolster, rector of St. Mark's church, officiating. About 300 guests attended the ceremony and the recep tion which followed at Rogue Valley Country club. For the event bouquets of white chrysanthemums had been arranged on the church altar and white chapel bows, loaned by Mrs. Alan Keaton, were tied with Christmas balls in pink and blue to decorate the ' pew ends. Christmas greenery was arranged throughout the church. Mrs. E. C. Conrad played traditional music. Q Richard Evans, a senior at St. Mary's school; Miss Marylee Lowry, sophomore princess, escorted by James Calhoun, a sophomore at St, Mary's, and Miss Diane Whipple, freshman princess, who was escorted by Miachel Read. Chaperones and guests at the ball were Dr. and Mrs. Florian Sliasky, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Von Buskirk, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Evans and the Rev. John Ilg. Miss Robinson was general chairman of the event. Head ing separate committees were Douglas Van Dyck, tickets; Dean Gradwell, decorations; Miss Virginia Krucger, queen's assembly; Stephen Miller, refreshments; Bill Smith, music; Miss Anne Man no, programs; Misses Karen Crevler and Mary Pat Nau- mcs, publicity; class officers, clean up. The bride wore a floor length gown of bride's dream taffeta designed on princess lines with chapel train. The bodice, made with scoop neck line and long sleeves, was ac cented with appliques of re embroidered Alcncon lace and pearls and these appliques were repeated at random on the billowing skirt and on the modified bustle back. The bride's elbow-length veil of hand-rolled silk illusion was held by a pillbox of Alencon lace and tulle embroidered with pearls and iridescent sequins. She carried an orchid and shower of stephanotis on her prayer book. Miss Dallas Barnard was honor attendant and Mir? Cynthia Rukovina was brides maid. Their gowns of pink satin, which repeated the color theme of the wedding, were fashioned with stand-up col lars, pleated back details and lowered waistlines, and were worn with little jackets. They wore queen's tiaras of pearls and rhinestoncs and carried pink carnations framed in sil ver leaves and rhinestones sprays. Mr. Hamilton escorted his daughter and gave her in mar riage. Arthur Samson, La Grande, was best man for his brother and seating the guests were Jim Lynch, Lakeview, Ore., John Dahlstrorri. La Grande and Robert Hamilton, brother of the bride. The reception decorations were in pink and white and wedding bells decorated the candle sticks and tall cande labra. Pouring coffee were Mrs. J. Sanford Richardson, aunt of the bride, Mrs. Hanley Heffer nan, Mrs. Edward C. Kelly and Mrs. Robert Dunn, cousin of the bride. At the punch bowls were Mrs. Doris Bu drow, Los Angeles; Mrs. Julia Ann Wirkkula, Mrs. Prentice Petty, Miss Margaret Brooks, San Francisco, Gamma Phi Beta sorority sister of the bride at the University of Ore gon, Miss Dorothy McGraw, and 'Michael Hartley and Duane Culbcrtson. Cutting the bride's cake wore Mrs. E. P. Leavitt, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Roy Wheeler, Arcadia, Calif., aunt of the bridegroom. The cake knife was loaned by the Misses Martha, Claire and Mary Hanley. Serving as host esses were the attendants' mothers, Mrs. Robert Ruko vina and Mrs. James Barnard. Mrs. Donald Wilkinson and Mrs. Jack Moad attended the gues( book and at the gift table were the Misses Barbara and Shirley Donahoo. Miss Lucy Keating and Jo Anne Hamilton, cousin of the bride, distributed the bridegroom's cake and Penelope Sage, and Diane Richardson, Portland, cousins of the bride, passed rice. The church and reception decorations were the work of Mrs. Claude Thompson, Mrs. Hcffcrnan, Miss Alice Thomp son and Mrs. Budd Gall. The mothers of both the bride and bridegroom wore silk jacket dresses of Dior blue with matching acces sories and pink rosebud cor sages. Mr. Samson and his bride are spending their honeymoon on the coast and will be at home in Eugene after Janu ary 2. For traveling the bride wore a royal blue suit with blue and bone accessories and an orchid. The couple will be married at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Medford January 21. Miss Day is a junior at San Francisco College for Women and will transfer to Holy Names college in Oakland after her marriage. Mr. Daly is the son of Mrs. Arthur Patrick Daly of Long Island City, Queens, New York, and the late Mr. Daly. He is a graduate of the City College of New York and did graduate work at the Uni versity of California at Berke ley last year. He is a civil engineer with Kaiser Engi neers of the Henry J. Kaiser Company, Oakland, The occasion of the' an nouncement was the first time the Day family had all been together for Christmas since 19S6. At the Day home for the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Day of Mon terey, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs, Edward Dierauf Jr., (nee Ver ity Day), Berkeley; Miss Su san Day and Mr. Daly, Family Members At West Home With Dr. and Mrs. D. Kirk- land West for the holidays were their daughter, Miss El len West, and their sons, Kirk Jr. and Bruce. Miss West, who makes her home in San Francisco, will begin a teaching assignment in February. Kirk West Jr. is a graduate student in politi cal science at the University of California, Berkeley, and Bruce is studying art and sculpture at the University of Oregon. Last' week Mrs. West and her daughter made a brief trip to Seattle to visit the West's son-in-law and daugh ter, Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Williams, and small son, Ben. Dr. Williams is in his second year as resident physician in pediatrics for Children's hos pital. He Is the son of Mrs. T. V. Williams, 1975 Houston road, tended Southern Oregon col lege. She received her degree from the University of Ore gon. Mr. Samson attended Eastern Oregon college, and is now a law school student at the University of Oregon. He served three years in the United States Nay as a pilot and held the rank of lieu tenant. The bride, whose father is Medford postmaster, is a mem ber of well-known Rogue val ley families. She is a grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Hamilton, Central Point, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Nealon who came to Oregon in 1883 and estab lished a home in the Table Rock area. Numerous parties for the bride and bridegroom preced ed the wedding. December 23 Mrs. Rodney Keating, Ash land, was hostess for a small luncheon at the Colony club honoring Miss Hamilton and the bride's mother gave a luncheon Monday afternoon at her home In honor of the bride's attendants. The Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Samson were hosts for the rehearsal dinner given at the Medford hotel Monday evening. if j 1 'I i'J Marriage Announced Central Point - Mr. and Mrs. James Hill, route 1, box 306, Central Point, announce the marriage of their daugh ter, Lydia F., to Corporal John E. Sisson, son of Mrs. Pauline A. Sisson, El Paso, Texas. Their wedding took- place December 20 in the Naval Air Station chapel at Corpus Chrlsti, Texas. The bride, a seaman in the Navy, was graduated from Grants Pass High school. Cpl. Sisson is in the Marine Corps. He was graduated from high school in El Paso. The young couple will re side in Corpus Christl temporarily. Ceremony At Church Weds Pair Miss Betty Jane Ernst Kreischer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jere Kreischer, 2D91 Springbrook road, became the bride of Grant Dade Hamlin, 1324 Winchester avenue, Fri day, December 23. The bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dade Hamlin, box 356A, Bend, Oregon. The Rev. A. L. Craig, Phoe nix, performed the ceremony at seven o'clock in the eve ning at the Southern Baptist church. A small number of relatives and friends attended. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Planken horn attended the couple. The bride wore a paisley print sheath dress of gray and green shades and her flowers were green orchids. Mrs. Plankenhorn wore a red vel vet sheath dress and a gar denia and white rose corsage. A wedding supper was giv en by the bride's parents at their home following the serv ice. The newlyweds will make their home at 317Vi Willam ette avenue. The bride attended Lone Pine and Medford High schools. The bridegroom, who is a former resident of Alaska, is employed at the Big Y Mar ket. Californian Visits Medford Relatives In the valley for Christmas and to attend the Samson Hamilton wedding was Mrs. Doris K. Budrow, Los Ange les. She was a guest in the homes of her niece and neph ew, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Myers and Kenneth R. Beebe, and her brother, M. M. Kin dle. Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Day, Prospect, gave a dinner for Mrs. Bud row at their home. She re turned to Los Angeles Wed nesday morning. Daughters Visit Mrs. Floyd Hart Holiday visitors at the home of Mrs. Floyd HBrt, Grant road. Central Point, are Mrs. Hart's two daughters and their families. Here arc Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bergstrom and two sons, Jake and Andy, and Mr. and Mrs. James Kecble, Miss C'arlotta Keeble and Hart Keeble. Both families lives at Newport Beach, Calif. Christmas day Mrs. Hart , was hostess for a family din-j ner. (Landis photo) Trowbridge-Elliott W adding Takes Place A wedding of interest to valley residents was held De cember 27 in Eugene when Miss Janeth Rae Elliott, Oak ridge and Medford, became the bride of Benjamin James Trowbridge Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs., Benjamin J. Trow bridge; 1625 East Main street. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul S. Elliott, Oak ridge. Dr. Wesley Nicholson offi ciated at the three o'clock aft ernoon rites held at the First Congregational church chapel. Ivory tapers in brass can delabra, cedar boughs and baskets of miniature ivory chrysanthemums and green ery decorated the church for the ceremony. Ward Sybouts was soloist. The bride wore a floor length gown of candlelight peau de soie fashioned with long sleeves, scoop neckline and bell skirt. A self bow at the waist accented the back pleats which formed a short train. Her fingertip length veil was held by a crown of pcarlized orange blossoms and she carried a crescent bouquet of cedar boughs and ivory roses which matched her wed ding gown. Mr. Elliott escort ed his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. Mrs. James Denny, Red ding, Calif., was honor at tendant for her sister, and Miss Christine Denny, Red ding, was junior bridesmaid for her aunt. They wore after noon length frocks of yellow taffeta with matching acces sories and carried nosegay bouquets of bronze chrysan themums and ivory rosebuds. Miss Pamela Trowbridge, Medford, sister of the bride groom, was candlclightcr. She wore a candlelight and yellow gold brocade frock. Robert Lathrop Bosworth, Medford, served as best man. Following the wedding re hearsal a dinner was held by the bridegroom's parents at the Vilage Green. Miss Bates To Return to College Miss Ursula Mary Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Bates. 1174 Oak Grove road, wil leave for Colorado today after spending the holi days with her parents. Miss Bates is a freshman at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in the college of business administration. She will be a guest of Miss Linda Collins, a classmate at the university, at Alta Ski lodge. Utah, before returing to college. She plans to spend spring vacation with Miss Jan Johnson, Wilmington, Del., and return to the valley next slimmer. While she was home last month, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stewart, Vancouver, B. C, her aunt and uncle, were visitors. Also Miss Julie Ma they, Eugene. - Parents Leave After Wedding; Couple Honored Mr. and Mrs. Jack Leath and son, Michael, left for their home in Camden, Ark., Thursday morning after hav ing been In Medford for the wedding of the Leath's daugh ter, Miss Christopher Leath, to David Myers Bosworth. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan P. Bosworth Jr., of Medford and the Applegate. The wedding took place December 28 at 4 o'clock at St. Mark's Episcopal church, with a reception following at the church. Mr. and Mrs. Bosworth were hosts later that evening for a dinner at the Rogue Val ley Country club in honor of the newlyweds. family mem bers and close freinds attend ed. The honored couple, their attendants and college friends were seated at the window table in the Crest room, and other family members and guests at tables on the lower floor. Fraternity and sorority sweetheart songs were sung and Y. S. Christianson, uncle of the bridegroom, sang a group of love ballads during the dinner hour. Eagle Point - Mrs. Betty Claus and daughter Patsy, have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Lindsay and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hufstader and family in Bend, Ore. They will return tms week end. The couple's engagement was an nounced in November. Miss Baker will return to the University of Oregon this week end where she is a stu dent. She is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
