Forest Service Films To Be Shown at Monday Meet Films furnished by the Rogue River national forest of the U. S. forest service will be shown Monday, December 19, at the Arm Chair Travel group at the Senior Activity center. The showing will begin at 1 p.m. and will be the last pic tures to be shown at the Cen ter, 601 East Jackson street, this year, since December 26 and January 2 are holidays and no meetings will be held. Both the Travel club and the Spanish class, which meets Monday evenings, will have their next meetings January 9. On December 12 the seniors were entertained by a two hour showing of colored slides by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ca noose, taken on their trip to Europe. The oil painting class will meet as usual on Tuesdays throughout the holidays. The exhibit planned by the group will take place early in Jan uary. Not To Meet The woodcarving and clay modeling group will not meet on Wednesday, December 21, but are to meet as usual De cember 28 at 1 p.m. The or chestra plans to continue weekly meetings on Thursday afternoon, both on December 22 and 29. Their weekly ses sions have become a favorite drop-in time for many seniors who listen to the music and join in the singing. Everyone is welcome and is invited to attend this weekly entertain ment. The group of 19 senior mu sicians under the leadership of Edward Root, a retired coun ty school music director, has recently made records of their lively pieces for the use of the Friendly Visitors of the Rogue Valley Council on Aging to take to nursing homes and homes for the aged. The or chestra is also willing to play at these homes when a piano is available. The Center committee is in need of a good record player in order to use the collection of 200 records given to the Center for a music apprecia tion group. Any one who has one to donate is asked to get in touch with John Gribble, Mr. Root, or Dr. Frank Roberts. Gift Distribution Set For Monday The annual distribution of Christmas gifts to veterans at the Veterans Administration domiciliary will take place at 6:30 p.m. December 22 at the theater building. The Veter ans of Foreign Wars auxiliary, department of Oregon, spon sors the distribution. Those wishing to attend 218 EAST MAIN who need transportation may board the bus at Trailway de pot at c p.m. Plans have been made for all volunteers to take part in the distribution. It was their an nual Christmas treat. Mrs. Ida Kelly presided at the business meeting which followed. The lodge voted to send Christmas greeting cards to all members confined to their homes and also to the juvenile members. It was announced that ho meeting will be held Decem ber 26. For the next regular business meeting on January 9, Mrs. John Dodge and Mrs. Oda Thomason will be in charge of serving the refresh ments. The Senior Citizens Orches tra will furnish the entertain ment at the social meeting January 23. Announce Dinner Jacksonville - Royal Arch Masons and Widows will meet in the Jacksonville Masonic hall Tuesday, December 20. A potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. will precede the regular ses sion.
