Mr. and Mrs. Berwick L Wood invited a group of friends to their home, 2445 East Main street, for an elec tion night party. Ten were in vited to listen to the returns and for a late supper. Medford Couple Visit in Hawaii Mr. and Mrs. John Mans field, 1615 Crater Lake ave nue, returned to Medford No vember 2 following a 3'2 weeks vacation in Hawaii. Highlights of their stay in the Islands were the activities during Aloha week which in cluded the crowning of the King and Queen of Aloha week, a week end at Kona re sort, and a trip to Pearl Har bor aboard Henry Kaiser's ship "Catamaran." The couple visited friends and while sightseeing through out the Islands visited Maul whero they watched the filming of the new Frank Si natra film, "Devil at Four O'clock." S,M,L, 68 David Abel To Play Here David Abel, young west coast violinist, will play in Medford Saturday, November IB, for the seasons first Jack son County Civic Music con cert. Young Abel established himself as one of the fore most of the younger genera tion of American violinists with a Town Hall debut. He has appeared as soloist under Arthur Fiedler with the San Francisco symphony; also under Fiedler with the Bos ton Pops orchestra; and with the Boston symphony under Pierre Monteux. The violinist also appeared on the Standard Hour with the Los Angeles philharmo nic, and has filled many other notable engagements with other symphonies. His local appearance will be at the Medford High school auditorium. Couple To Wed At Holiday Time Mr. and Mrs. Perry Strom: 1464 Dixie lane, announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Mavis Evelyn, to Dennis Ronald Lundgren, son of Mrs. Eugene Franklin, 1224 Stewart avenue and the late Ronald Lundgren. Both Miss Strom and her fiance are 1060 graduates of Medford High school. Miss Strom is a fresh man at Southern Oregon col lege and Mr. Lundgren is em ployed by tlie Piggly Wiggly store. The wedding has been set for December 26, and will be held at home. Dinner-Dance Set Wednesday Lively Rogues will hold the November dinner-dance at the Rogue Valley Country club. Wednesday. November 16. Dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m. with dancing following. The date for this event was changed from the original schedule due to conflicting events. Host couples for this meet ing are Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Griffin and Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Leljnaar. Bosworth. The bride-elect is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Leath of Camden, and her fiance is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan P. Bosworth Jr., Route 1, Box 62, Jacksonville, Ore. The wedding is set for four o'clock in the afternoon of Wednesday, December 28, at Travel Study Club Plans CARE Tea November 21 The Travel Study club of the Oregon Federation of Women's clubs, will Join the General Federation of Worn en's clubs and the Oregon Federation in supporting the CARE program for Latin American countries, accord ing to Mrs. Jack D. Brum- mond, Travel Study club president. "They will, through CARE supply the equipment and tools necessary for self-help and self-respect. The lessen ing of human suffering on a peoplc-lo-pcople basis has and always will be CARE'S great est concern," Mrs. Brummond stated. A CARE tea on Monday, November 21, at the Girls' Community club will kick off the CARE campaign. Mrs. Brummond appointed Mrs. Clay M. Lee, chairman for the tea. Others on the committee are Mrs. Edward C. Root, Mrs. William E. Boone, Mrs. Jason Ottinger, Mrs. Beryl Lyon and Mrs. Brummond. The tea will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and the pub lic Is invited to attend. There will be music and speakers during the afternoon. CARE is a government ap proved, but not government supported organization. rtf 4 Mrs. Ralph Hibbs (at left) and Mrs. Malcolm Byers were without aicorti for the Champagne Supper given by Medford Junior Service league November 5, since their husbands. Dr. Hibbs and Dr. Byers, were out of the city on a hunting trip. Mrs. Hibbs Is president of the league, which gave the supper as a benefit for the league's kindergarten for deaf children. Miss Leath and Mr. Bosworth plan to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with his parents at their home on the Applegate and wed ding plans will be completed at that time, j Countriai Auiitad The General Federation CARE program will assist the people of Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guate mala, Haiti, Honduras, Mex ico and Panama. Latin America was select ed because more than one third of the total United States investments abroad is in this area. The General Federation of Women's club's CARE pro gram is one in which a su preme effort is being made to alleviate the suffering and misery these people are ex periencing, Mrs. Brummond said. Mrs. Lee, First District president of the Oregon Fed eration, has asked every club in the district to support this program.
