A Union City, N. J., house wife who can "talk the ears oft a billy goat" offers to campaign for Vice President Nixon. An El Cajon, Calif., man volunteers his services to Sen. John F. Kennedy to go to Moscow to "handle" Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. These are among the off beat letters that the two pres idential nominees have been getting from thsir supporters during the past few weeks. A New York City man wrote Kennedy recently that ne was a self - appointed spokesman for the American male who favors Mrs. Ken nedy for First Lady. 'Dish' in White House "Would you please inform your most charming wife to persist in not conforming to the image of what all these gloomy and tasteless puritan women (mostly GOP) have of . . . what the President's wife should be like?" he asked Kennedy. "Assure her that there is a much greater amount of voters, particular ly men, who contemplate with pleasure the idea of at last having, if you will excuse the adjective, a real dish in the White House." The Union City woman 1 with the knack of talking was concerned about Nixon s re cent knee injury. She volun teered to Nixon to "make your campaign ;tour for you:" The California man who wants to spar with the Soviet chieftain put it this way to Kennedy: "I can handle Khru- shchev. I won't be overmatch ed with him. In fact, I will be undermanned with him, but not so much that it would be an unfair fight. I know just what to say to him and just what to do. Subsequently, you had better give this (of fer) some consideration," he advised Kennedy. Nixon'i Face Some of Nixon's supporters are concerned about his per sonal appearance. A woman living in a trailer wrote Nix on that she had dressed down another woman who had crit icized the look of Nixon's jaw. A New York man informed Nixon that the Democrats had been criticizing his appear ance. "However, if candidates are chosen by looks, why not run a TV star? Kennedy does wear his hair cute like Prince Charles, but is that sufficient qualification for president of the United States? Abraham Lincoln was ridiculed for his appearance during . his time, yet his likeness now is greatly respected," the New xorK sup porter wrote Nixon.. A Pittsburgh photographer offered his services to Nixon nnedy Backers Offer Advice, Assistance during the campaign. "I I would endeavor to present your best face forward at all times," he told Nixon. ' Speech Defect A man who campaigned in the . Wisconsin primary for Kennedy informed the Massa chusetts Senator that he had set a woman right about Ken nedy's accent. He wrote: "An old lady in Montfort . . . wor ried about the senator's Bos ton accent. She said it made her suspicious when a Cath olic talked like a foreigner. Uf course, I told her that all other Americans born and raised around Boston had the same speech defect, and that it wasn't their fault that they couldn't speak good American like us midwesterners," the Wisconsin campaigner wrote Kennedy, who happens to be a cum laude graduate of Har vard university. A Miami Beach man has written Nixon that he "would sure like to sit down and write a real great song for you ... to (fit) your person ality and ability and FREE." An 81-year-old man In Key- ser, W. Va., who has voted in 15 presidential elections has offered to campaign for Nixon in seven cities ranging from Pittsburgh to Albany. ; An elderly man in Aurora, 111., has applied to Nixon "for a job of soliciting votes for you in this coming election." He claims he was "responsi ble for about 7,000 votes in the last election." A New Jersey man has in formed Kennedy that he has Atlantic City sewed up for him. "Just call me an agent for the Kennedy campaign," he notified Kennedy. A Tennessean has informed Kennedy that he would like to work for the senator lining up about 200 votes in New- burn, Tenn.
