OCTOBER 18, 1968 Charter Members To Be Honored At Anniversary Past presidents and charter members of the auxiliary to Crater Lake Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagle, will be hon ored at the 2Bth anniversary of the auxiliary's institution Thursday, October 20, at the Eagles hall at 8 p.m. Eight charter members are till alive, of whom seven are past presidents. Mrs. Isabelle Tucker, the first president of the auxiliary, said that there .were 50 charter members and the instituting officer was D. D. Hale, a past president of the Oregon state aerie. Mrs. Stuart Forbes, president of the auxiliary, is chairman of the event. All members whose birth days occur in the month of October will also be honored Thursday. Information concerning the amount of insurance needed for family coverage to supple ment the income with Social Security benefits, and a dis cussion of the basic types of insurance are on the program. Saturday: 2 p.m. - Daughters of the American Resolution, Girls Community cm, Program For Center Announced Mrs. Eugene Thorndike will show colored slides of a recent trip through the south ern and south eastern states at the Senior Activity center Monday, October 17, at 1 p.m. A special feature will be pic tures taken during the Gaspa- rilla day festival held at Tampa, Fla., celebrating the famous pirate of that name who ones besieged that coast. Pirate ships parade the Tampa Bay and there is a parade of floats in town. The Center is located at 601 East Jackson street. The beginners Spanish class will hold its fourth meeting Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock. New members can still enter this class. The ad vanced class meets Thursday mornings at 10 o'clock. Any one who already has taken Spanish and wishes to renew his skill is invited to this class, which has been study ing for almost two years. Mrs. Victoria Staley has re sumed teaching the class in oil painting which meets each Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock. New members can enter this class at any time. There will be no woodcarv- ing class Wednesday, October 19, due to Illness of some of the members. Instead there will be a meeting at one o'clock- of the Center co-ord inating committee, which will include teachers, hostesses and house committee members, to consider management and pro grams of the center. The Center orchestra which meets Thursday afternoons is planning to enter a float in the Veteran's day parade No vember 11. 1 Dinner Event A welcome back dinner will be given for the Dis abled American Veteran aux iliary by the chapter Monday, October 17, at the Girls Com munity club, 229 North Bart- lette street, at 6:30 p.m. Wo men of the auxiliary will fur nish the salads. Chapter Holds Recent Party; Meeting Slated Central Point Gamma Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held a card party recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Adams, North Second street. Mrs. B. M. Thumler spoke on Pleasures of Possession" at the regular meeting of the sorority last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Kay Kelley. A shower honoring Mrs. Gor don Mekvold followed the meeting. Refrcshmens were served by Mrs. Roy Madden, co- hostess. The group also held a baked food sale Saturday at the Postal Drug store. The next meeting is set for Wednesday, October 19, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Robert Knight. Mrs. Donald Lacey will be co-hostess.
