II. CONTROVERSIAL MARTIN The most controversial man in town is Cincinnati's Billy Martin, recently involved in a "bean ball" incident with Chicago favorite, Pitch er Jim Brewer. Southpaw pitcher Jim Brew er and the Chicago Cubs set up the possibility Monday when they filed a joint suit asking $1,040,000 damages from Billy Martin, Cincinnati Reds infielder, for his assault on Brewer, Aug 4 . There were intimations la ter that Martin might file a counter-suit against Brewer iioroipo Mint the pitcher threw at his head to set off the attack. Should he file such a suit, it was indicated he would have the full support of the Cincin nati club, since its general manager Gabe Paul, said, "Of course we'll fight it. If the case comes to trial, there will be some very interesting de velopments."
