The wedding is planned for October 15 at the Phoenix First Presbyterian church. r Wedding Day Set By Couple Hornbrook - Mr. 'and Mrs. Ernest Elmore have announc ed the engagement and ap proaching marriage of their daughter, Gerry, to John L. Wayne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wayne, Hornbrook. Miss Elmore was a mem ber of the 1960 graduating class of Yreka High school, of which Mr. Wayne also is a graduate. He is employed at Eastlick's Mill in Yreka. Their marriage is set for August 27 in the Hornbrook Methodist church, after which they will make their home in Yreka. Miss Elmore is a charter member of the Vaquerras, Hornbrook's girl's mounted drill team. Student Nurse To Be Graduated Central Point - Miss Laurel Higinbotham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Higinbotham, Taylor road, Central Point, is scheduled to graduate Friday, August 12, from the Univer sity of Washington, School of Nursing, Seattle, Wash. Miss Higinbotham, a grad uate of Crater High ' school, also attended Seattle Pacific college and took her clinical training at the Swedish hospi tal, Seattle. She majored in orthopeuics and also received training with convalescent pa tients. Attending the ceremonies Friday will be Mr. and Mrs. Higinbotham, her sisters, Sandy, a sophomore at Simp son Bible college, San Fran cisco, and Sue, a senior at Crater High school, and brother, Tim, a junior high school student. Miss Higinbotham will work at the Swedish hispital. Later this month she plans to visit relatives in the valley. Hornbrook Woman Home From Kansas Hornbrook - Mrs. L. E. Je ter has returned home from a two weeks' trip to Arcadia, Kans., where she visited her parents and her sisters and brothers. She made the trip both ways by air, the return trip on a jet plane, which brought her from Kansas City, Mo., to Los Angeles in a little over two hours. In Los Angeles, Mrs. Jeter visited briefly with her daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Campbell and sons, Ricky and Tininiy. It was while they were en route home from a visit with the Campbells that Mr. Camp bell's grandparents, Siskiyou County Superior Court Judge and Mrs. James M. Allen of Yreka, were killed Tuesday evening approximately only ten miles from home. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell are expected to arrive soon in Yreka for his grandparents' funeral. Janice Robinson, Paul Gene Roby Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Rob inson, 116 Sunrise avenue, announce the engagement ot their daughter, Janice Anita to Paul Gene Roby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Roby, 133 Taft avenue, this city. Miss Robinson, who will be a senior at Medford High school this fall, is employed by her father at Robinson Brother's store. Mr. Roby, who graduated from Medford High school in 1959, is working with his father, a contractor. Natural Food Associates To Hold Convention Here The fifth annual state con vention of Natural Food asso ciates will be held in Medford Thursday, August 25. Theme of the meeting will be "Sur vival in the Atomic Age." The entire program will center around foods that are known to maintain health. Miss Alfreda Rooke, Escon dido, Calif., will be the prin cipal speaker. Miss Rooke has taught more than 20 years and supervised health educa tion in California schools. For eight years she was an in structor in nutrition at the University of Southern Cali fornia, college of dentistry, department of dental hy giene. She is educational con sultant of the American Acad emy of Applied Nutrition and curator of the Dr. Weston A. Price Research Studies, and is clinical nutrition counselor. During the convention here organically produced foods will be displayed and the eve ning banquet will be pre pared entirely from such foods, it was announced. 1 Applegate Families Entertain Visitors , Applegate Valley - Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. Maddox and six sons have returned to Pacific Beach, Calif., after spending a week with Mrs. Maddox's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Williams, Sterling. Other out-of-state guests here recently were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hyde, Pullman, Wash., who were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Forbes Brown. Club Announces Bridge Tourney An open individual master point session is being planned by the Riverside Bridge club for Wednesday, August 17. Top places won in the reg ular monthly master point play of the club last Wednes day have been announced. In the north-south position were Mrs. B. H.
