West Berlin Mayor Willy Berlin - IUPII - The East German Communists increas ed their diplomatic pressure on West Berlin today in a new indication of a possible Red move against the free city before the U.S. presi dential elections. The West Berlin newspaper Telegraf reported Sunday Communists planned to move against West Berlin and said it received reliable reports that East German Communist Leader Walter Ulbrichl has organized "storm troopers" for an assault. Previous reports in Bonn have told a major buildup of Cody Confesses Lying for Money Los Angeles-(UPI)- Glib John Fatrick Cody today admitted he had in the past lied for money as he underwent cross examination on his talc of "m u r d e r for hire" at the Finch-Tregoff murder retrial. The self-styled ladies' man testified last week Dr. R. Ber nard Finch, 43, and Carole Tregoff, 23, paid him $1,400 to kill the wealthy surgeon's wife, Barbara, 33. Cody insisted, however, lie would draw the line some where in what he would do to get out of jail. The prosecution witness said he was a salesman but when asked sarcastically by Defense Attorney Grant Coop er if he supported himself by his wits Cody replied: "When I'm not working, yes." Cody claimed he never planned to go through with the murder plot, and engaged In talks with Finch and Carole only for the purpose of bilk ing money from the wealthy surgeon and his mistress. Communist armed forces circling Berlin and diplomatic sources In Washington have heard reports the Communists may move against the West ern outpost. The situation, was becoming so tense that a government spokesman in Bonn indicated the West German Parliament would not meet in West Ber- Judge To Visit Brother in China Hong Kong - Judge Wil liam Walsh entered Commu nist China today to visit his imprisoned brother, Roman Catholic Bishop James E. Walsh,' Judge Walsh, of Cumber land, Md., was met at the barbed wire frontier by a Red Chinese border guard. He did not know his actual travel plans in advance, other than the fact that he was taking a train to Canton, but he undoubtedly will be ac companied all the way to Shanghai by a Chinese Red Cross official. Judge Walsh's wife, who came to Hong Kong with him from the United Slates, re mained in the colony.' The judge took two pieces of luggage with him, mostly clothes and things he hopes to be able to give his brother. Bishop Walsh is serving a 20 year prison term in Shang hai on charges of "espionage." Since he is 69, Judge Walsh said he assumed his brother would never leave the prison alive. Happy Camp - Nellie Gil more, Mail Tribune carrier, reports that there are three drag line operations started along the Klamath River be tween Highway 09 and Happy Camp. Iin this fall, apparently be cause of Soviet threats to Brandt, now vacationing in Austria, told the West Berlin newspaper B. Z. today he would abandon his campaign to become chancellor and re main in the city as mayor if a new Berlin crisis arose. The new diplomatic pres sure by the Communists came in the form of a memorandum to all the nations that took pari in the war against Nazi Germany. It was issued to mark the 15lh anniversary to morrow of the Potsdam agree ment which divided Germany among the allies. Old Charget Repeated The memorandum repeated its old charges that the West ern 'allies, particularly the United States, had violated the Potsdam treaty repeated ly, thus nullifying it, and had supported the revival of Nazi and militarism in West Ger many. It said such violations meant the Western allies had lost their rights to remain in West Berlin. It denounced West Berlin as a "dangerous trouble spot" and again de manded a peace treaty be tween the Western powers and the two Germanies. Gun Accident Kills Reservist San Bernardino, Calif. MUPD A 23-year-old Air Force re servist was accidentally killed Sunday when a pistol he had bought for his wife's protec tion, discharged as he showed her how to use it, police re ported. George Michael Howard had just returned home after serving a 10-day duly tour as a flight engineer and was re hearsing his wife Wanda, 22, in the use of the .22-caliber automatic. Western showers during the night were scattered mostly from the Central Rockies through Nevada and Northern California into Southern Ore gon. North Dakota reported drizzles. O r :., v Post-Vote Rioting Breaks Out in Korea Seoul, Korea - IUPII - Savage post election rioting broke out in three areas of south-central Korea today and the govern ment mobilized army troops to restore order. Demonstrations also broke out in Seoul for the first time since the April revolution which toppled the regime of former President Syng man Rhce. The rioters and demonstra tors all were protesting the handful of members of Rhce's Liberal-Democratic parly who were elected to the new Na tional Assembly in balloting Friday. There were some charges of election rigging, particularly in cases where Liberal-Democratic candidates ran for office successfully despite the fact they were in jail. Stock List Firms In Early Trading; Buying Distributed New York - IUPD - Stocks firmed in the early trading today with electronics, some steels, aircrafts and .drugs providing most of the thrust. An advance today would give the list its third consec utive rise since the federal reserve board cut the margin rate to 70 per cent last Wed nesday. 'Absolute Rest' Ordered for Castro Havana -IUPD- Premier Fidel Castro's doctors today order ed "absolute rest, mental as well as physical," for the bearded Cuban leader suffer ing from an ailment that has kept him out of public view for days. Castro's illness has touched off speculation of a crisis in leadership in Cuba but most observers believed his anti American brother Raul would serve as acting premier until Castro recovers.
