The dancers arrived at the park wearing their little black slippers, but because the grass was damp and slippery, they soon dis carded the slippers in favor of bare feet. Pre-play entertainment by the singers and dancers each evening before curtain time is one of the most de lightful features of the Ashlond festivol. Among the hundreds of Shakespearean fan who attended the annual Feasting of the Tribe of Will In I'lhia park Monday night were (loft to right) Mrs. Howard Belton and Mr. Bel ton, Salom, Mrs. Morgan S. Odell and Dr. Odoll, Portland, and the Bellon's son, John. Mr. Belton, who Is Oregon state treasurer, represented Gov. Mark Hatfield at the event and spoke during the ceremonies which officially opened Iho 1960 soason of the Oregon Shaketpearean festival in Ashland. ML-.. kli I Au I : t: A ,, rise rSTL cfe:, One of the junior guests at the Shakespearean party in Ashland Monday night was Tommy Kerns, who was offered potato chips by Dr. Arthur Kreisman of Southern Orogon collage, Mr, and Mrs. W. H, Baker, Grants Pass, were standing near Tommy, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kern, Klamath Falls, were further down the inack line.-' Mr. and Mrs. James McDonald, Portland, were among visitors who attended the Feast and open ing play Monday night as guest of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival association, Mr. Mc Donald is British consul In Portland. State officials, educators and dignitaries from varlou western cities were guest of the association for the festive event and play. One of the busiest men at the Feasting of the Tribe of Will Monday night was Dwaine E. Smith, Medford, official photographer for the Festival. Assisted by Gary Aldrich of the Festival public rela tions staff, Photographer Smith took dozen of picture which we J to newspapers and magaiines throughout the country. - 2
