Under the contract, the firm is also to install 220 feet of 24-inch drain tile and place "rubble" from the buildings on Bellvlcw School property at an additional cost of $1,000. Pony Express Riders on Time Austin, Nev.-tUPD-Riders pounded across the great Ne vada desert today on sched ule In their centennial rerun of the famed Pony Express. They hoped to keep their time-table intact which allow ed them only 10 minutes to change horses and riders at relay stations. It was a far cry from the old days. Modern riders are switching off every 10-14 miles while the old timers often went 140 miles without relief and then perhaps did It again if a fresh rider was available. Figures Released Salem (VPD - The Oregon Tax commission today releas ed new determinations of true cash value of utility property in Oregon: The values showed an increase of about nine per cent over 1959 for a new high of $1,124,956,212. This was a Jump of $94,- 151,307. Last year the total exceeded the billion dollar mark for the first time. . The commission set the new values following its annual review of utility assessments for property tax purposes. This announcement by John Welon, partner in the firm, was confirmed by Mayor Car roll Banks, who stated that the city council has approved the sale of a portion of city property, 70 by 132 feet, to the firm with conditions that the city be granted opportun ity to lease office space. Banks said that Laurence Cushing, legal advisor to the council, is working up an agreement that will establish rental at $50 per month for the balance of the fiscal year with $60 per month for the remaining four years of a five year agreement. Option Included The paper will also carry a right of option for another five years with the stipulation that the city have first chance to purchase the building if it he sold. Weldon states it is not a money making proposition for their firm. With both the city and firm losing their of fice space in a recent sale, it is a matter of solving their mutual housing problem, he said. Mayor Banks outlined the terms of the agreement in which the city sold the 70 by 132-foot portion of their 279 foot by 132 foot lot to the ac counting firm for a sum of $500 and the condition for housing. The city will retain 209 feet of frontage on Lister st. Jack Eggers, purchser of the Beall building, present lo cation of city office, told the city council and Weldon and Stilling, that he could let them use the smaller of the two offices until they found suitable quarters. Welon said that it will take about 30 days to erect a new office building. The city will have offices on the west side of the building, with the ac counting firm on the east side. Other offices are planned for the building. EP Scout Building Work Scheduled Eagle Point - Official work ing days for the Scout Com munity building will be Sat urdays beginning at 8 a.m., according to Chairman Harry Hanscom. Hanscom slated that there will be blocks to haul and unload, block laying and backfill work to be done this week end. , The committee voted to ob tain and deliver all of the blocks needed to finish the building. Anyone having a truck who would help bring blocks from Medford to the building site is asked to con tact Harry Hanscom. Park Chairman Donald Kimmel received $248.02 at the meeting Monday night. Kimmel hopes to have the necessary materials to install the sprinkling system and make necessary preparations for the planting of the grass in the lower park. Kimmel also stated that he would contact the county agent in regards to spraying the poison oak that is begin ning to come up in the area. All wives of men working on the community building have been asked to bring a potluck luncheon for the fam ily. Wilma Hanscom said that there will be no special invi tations issued to the wives since none will be issued to the men. Another contribution by the women of the community will be the making of homemade ice cream later in the after- I noon.
