Vets With Gl Term Should Check Policy More than 128 thousand veterans in the Pacific North west should give careful study to their GI insurance hold ings, S. T. Brannock, contract representative, VA Domicil iary, White City, said Friday. The veterans still hold GI term insurance, a type of in surance that plays a definite role for a young growing fam ily but may become prohibi tively expensive for the veter an near retirement age, Bran nock stated. This is one of the biggest problems now facing the VA, Brannock pointed out, using as an example a recent letter from a World War I veteran to emphasize the importance of the situation. "Feel free to use my pres ent plight to warn other term insurance holders," the veter an wrote. "1 find myself near ing 70, unable to continue my G-E Stitchers The fifth meeting of the G-E Stitchers 4-H club was held at Edge Oaks dairy. The U.S. Flag pledge was led by Jillinda Arthur. The 4-H flag pledge was led by Bonnie Goehring. We had three visitors, Ar lene Jarrett, and Christine and Marilyn Streeter. We spent the rest ol the after noon swimming. ' ; Jillinda Arthur, Reporter . term insurance payments at their greatly increased rate and unable to obtain new in surance coverage. If I die, my wife has nothing: yet over the years we have invested more than $3,000 in this form of in surance." Mounting Costs Mounting costs can become prohibitive as the years go by, Brannock said. For instance, a term GI insurance policy that carries an annual premium of $9-a-thousand at age 33. jumps to an annual premium of S47-a-thousand by age 65, and to $73.16-a-thousand at age 70. Brannock emphasized that the VA is not trying to tell in dividual veterans how to han dle their insurance programs. The individual -program de pends on the circumstances of each veteran's financial sit uation, and his total insurance plans and program. Each pol icyholder should review his GI insurance holdings period ically to be sure they meet his current and long-range needs. The number of GI term in surance policies in force in Washington state are 58.071; in Oregon, 41,053; Montana, 13,947; Idaho, 13,123; and in Alaska, 2,310. - . , Full information on GI in surance programs may be ob tained from the contact of fice, VA Domiciliary, White City.' . . feWEISFIELD'S VNX MAONIFKfNUY ITT LIB AND HAN MTAIUO 14 -KARAT V&OV- Xf !
