One is (or holding city pris oners in the county jail and the other for county employ ment of Modford Parka and Recreation Director Robert Haworth as county parks and recreation director. Both agreements are effective as of July 1, according to County Commissioner Ralph James. The county will assume con trol, custody, security, board ing and be in charge of the general welfare of all prison ers "under sentence of muni cipal court" when they must be jailed for more than 24 hours. Cost to the city is $1.45 a day per prisoner. The city will pay all medical expenses. We assume it to be of mu tual benefit to city and coun ty to have park and recreation departments coordinated by a director." the other agreement stated. Jackson county 4-H club members from the Talent- Phoenix area clubs and Ruch and Antelope clubs were top competitors at the Talent- Phoenix 4-H clubs prefair July 9 in the Talent commu nity club hall. The prefair provided com petition in the widest variety of projects of any of the coun ty prefairs, and drew a large number of parents and lead ers, 4-H leaders said. Umatilla Wheat Farmers to Vote ' Pendleton - (UPD - Wheat farmers in Umatilla county are scheduled to vote next Thursday for or against mar keting quotas for the 1961 wheat crop. Two-thirds or more of the eligible farmers who vote must approve quotas before they can be put into effect. As required by law the secretary of agriculture has proclaimed wheat quotas sub ject to a growers' referendum, and farmers will make the final decision on whether or not the quota controls will apply to the 1961 production.
