Silver Tea Central Point-A silver tea was given for the opening of the new Central Point li brary, Friday. July 1, spon sored by the Jaycettes. Money from the tea will be used for the library. More than 100 people attended during the afternoon according to Libra rian Mrs. Bert Cook. Families Vacation In Victoria Hornbrook-Cunada, particu larly the province of British Columbia, is proving tho fa vorite vacation land for a number of area people this year. Returning last Tuesday from a trip north were Mr. and Mrs. Thomaa Watt and aons, Tommle and Ronnie. They left on Juno 27, spent two days in Portland with Mra. Watt'i parenta, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rubisch, then in Seattle they visited Mr. Watt'i sister, Miss Sally Watt, who conducts a training school for stewardesses for the United Air Lines. In Seattle they boarded the Canadian Pacific steamer Princess Marguerite for the four-hour boat trip to Vic toria, B.C. where they spent two days. Visiting, among the many other points of inter est, the Buchart gardens. They also took the sight seeing drive through Victoria aboard the horse-drawn trol ley car, called "The Tallyho." A ferry boat took them from Victoria to Port Angeles, Wash., from where they drove to Kennwick, Wash. In Kcn newlck they visited Mrs. Watt's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Shelton. Leaving Kennewiek, they drove to Bend, Ore., for a visit with Mr. Watt's broth er and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Watt. They visited there, too, with Mr. William Rann, an uncle of Mrs. Watt's whom she had not seen since 1940. Post, Auxiliary Announce Plans For Summer Victoria, B.C. was the des tination also of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jeter. En route north, they stopped at Corvallis, Ore. for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. David Holland, former Hornbrook residents. They returned via Mt. Rainier National park and the Columbia river highway, ar riving home on Wednesday after an absence of one week. ( Visits Aunt McLeod - Private Robert Prirp whn la stationed at Camp Irivin, Barstow, Calif., Is visiting his aunt, Mrs. uor othy Tackstein on Big Butte creek. Crater Lake post and aux iliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, held a buffet supper July 8. The post served sup per to about 60 persons. Mrs. Stanley Morgan, Phoenix, Ariz., an auxiliary member for many years, was a guest. Member! of the auxiliary and Mrs. Ivan Lusk, Camp White hospital chairman, en tertained veterans at the do miciliary recreation room the afternoon of July 8. A local observance of the 30th anniversary of the Veter ans administration is planned for July 21, when representa tives of the domiciliary and Veterans Administration Vol unteer Services will hold a banquet at Kim's restaurant. Special speakers, awards and recognition ceremonies are planned. The next meeting of the post and auxiliary will be August 16. The annual "wa termelon bust" will be held at the domiciliary p I c n I cl staff and VAVS members will grounds August 21 when the I serve.
