Mothers Of Twins Organize First meeting of Mothers of Twins, a unique new group in the valley, was held Wed nesday, June 22, at the home of Mrs. Neil Jackson, 216 Ha ven st. Mothers of twins are eligi ble for membership in t h e club. Aims are to promote interest in and knowledge about twins; to help new mothers of twins through ex change of ideas about baby care; to provide an equipment exchange for members; and to help needy families with twins through equipment and clothing assistance. Mrs. James Parton was elected temporary president; Mrs. Edward Hinkle, vice president; Mrs. Robert Doe scher, secretary, and Mrs. Elis abeth Underhill, treasurer. Meetings will be held the third Wednesday of each month and anyone with twins who wishes to attend or ob tain information about the club may call Mrs. Parton, SPring 2-8583. Gardner, new worthy patron, and his father, Fred Adarel Chapter Installation Is Unique Jacksonville Mr. and Mrs Fred M. Gardner were in stalled worthy matron and patron of Adarel chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in open ceremonies held June 18 at the Masonic hall in Jack sonville. Mr. Gardner's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Gardner, past matron and patron of the chapter, were the installing officers, this be ing the first time that such an event had taken place in the 80 - year history of the chapter. ' The ceremony was one of a series of father-son Masonic events for the Gardners which are noteworthy. The elder Mr. Gardner "raised" his son as a master Mason in Warren lodge in Jacksonville, in later years installed him as master of the lodge, in the ca pacity of a past master, ini tiated the younger man into Adarel chapter, OES, and then installed his son as worthy patron of the lodge. This is unique in the lodge, now in its 105th year and No. 10 in the state. Others installed were Mrs. J. E. The ceremony, in which the parents, past matron and patron of the chapter, installed their son and daughter-in-law into these offices, was on of a series unique in the history of Warren Masonic Lodge No. 10 in Jacksonville and Adarel chapter of the OES. Following installation of Mrs. Gardner as matron, her daughter, Teresa, played a violin solo and Mrs. Sue Lytle sang. Following Mr. Gardner's installation, his son, Brian, recited a poem, "Just a Son." For the ceremony the new matron wore a gown of white organza designed with tiered skirt and she carried a nose gay of yellow and white dai sies. Her officers wore white and yellow frocks with appli qued daisies. She expressed her thanks to all of the committees, par ticipants and guests of the eve ning, gave her theme, watch words, and scripture text for the ensuing year, and an nounced standing committees for the year. The new worthy matron in troduced her husband, wor thy patron, their children Teresa and Brian, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. man, Ashland, A. Bert Free- and her sister and family. Mr. and Mrs Franz E. Sedlacek and chil dren of Milwaukie, Ore. The worthy patron intro duced his parents, the install ing officers, and his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack A. Gardner. Past matron and patron jewels were presented to Mrs. Evernham and Donald Shores by Mrs. George Mero and Gail Buffinglon. Following recitation of the Mizpah benediction, a recep tion was held in the dining room. The chapter room and dining room were decorated in the worthy matron's colors and flower, yellow, white and green with yellow and white daisies. The tea table was centered with yellow and white daisies, white delphin iums and yellow and green candles. Presiding at the tea table were Mrs. McNair, Mrs. Bert Freeman, Mrs. Fred Fick and Mrs. Ray Clary, Miss Trafton To Speak Here Miss Lois Tafton, north western director of Union Oil Company of California's "Sparkle Program" will con duct a luncheon meeting for Union Oil Company Associat ed Wives at the Rogue Valley Country club in Medford, Tuesday, June 28, at 12 noon, it was announced today. The Sparkle Progrnm was originally designed for the further acceptance of the Union Oil company service stations throughout the entire retail marketing area by the rapidly Increasing number of women motorists throughout the country, it is said. Several months ago Miss Trafton was employed as northwestern di rector of the Sparkle Pro gram. In this capacity she speaks to womens' organiza tions, conducts meetings for Union Oil Company Associ ated Wives, and, in general, represents the company in this new service. W. L. Cochran, retail sales supervisor for Union Oil In this area, will be present to answer any questions the women wish to have answer ed about the many ramifica tions of their husbands' busi ness. Miss Trafton will speak on "enjoyable auto travel and fashion wise wardroblng," and will show a color coordi nated travel wardrobe, e Melvin Johnsons Entertain Guests Gold Hill - Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin John son and family at their home on Kanes creek were his sis ters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Todd from Seattle, Washington, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Angel and three children from Los An geles, caiif- Head Nurse Honored On Retirement Twenty years of service by Mrs. Anna Barnes, R.N., were formally recognized Thursday as members of the Rogue Val-' ley Memorial hospital medi cal staff, board of directors and employees held a tea hon oring her on her retirement. One Hundred and fifty friends and associates attend ed the event at which the medical staff presented her with a jet plane ticket to her , Home in Savannah, Ga., via New York City, where she will vacation for several days. In addition, Mrs. Barnes re ceived substantial cash gifts, trnnsistor radio and other gifts. Administrator Charles Gus- tafson awarded the hospital's 20-year service pin to Mrs. Barnes who has served as a head nurse since she joined Community hospital In 1S140. Representing the medical staff, Dr. Edwin R. Durno de scribed the petite nursing vet eran as "the idenl bedside nurse," while Dr. Ralph Thompson recounted her rig orous wartime schedule of voluntary night duty follow ing a full day shift at the hospital. Mrs. Chester Guches spoke on behalf of the hospital board of directors, acknowl edging the nurse's "selfless and loyal service to the com munity," and citing her vital contribution in the training of wartime nurses' aides.
