There Is a story that years ago a man used to get a large income simply from placing an advertise ment in many papers. For a dollar, bill he promised to tell the send er how to get rich without working. His answer was, "Fish for suckers like I S. Government experts are telling us that one variant of this game is to send letters to thousands of people saying that, if they will send a five dollar bill, they will get a package of a food supple ment containing vitamins and minerals which, if taken each day, will give abundant health and strength to the whole family. Many sensible people who get these letters tell me they throw them into -the waste basket, but just enough peo ple send the five dollar bill so that someone can make a living without much work. Some people are now writing me asking how they can be sure that a complete stranger with no standing in the busi ness or scientific world has played fair with them, and has sent them real medicine? What is to stop him from send- ng pills made out of. flour or sand? Some of the buyers are now sending me a few of the pills, asking that I have them analyzed to see if they really contain vitamins. Obviously, that would cost much more than the pills cost. Other peo ple keep sending me come-on literature from a man who says that, with hii pills, he will send a booklet of mine that outlines "my plan of treatment." Obviously, he is trying to give the reader the impression that to some ex tent I am In partnership with him. I definitely am not. He must be like the man who, a while ago, had his name le gally changed to that of a well-known medical authority and then started to sell medi cine by mail. It is hard for a lawyer to stop these fellows because their answer is that they didn't say anything defi nite, and they were not trying to cheat. But it is very em barrassing for the man being victimized. Mexico's oil reserves are estimated at 1.7 billion barrels.
