Late entries will be non-competitive. A new division for flower shows, planned for bloom cy cles, will be' a part of the Central Point event. The di vision is open for exhibits of three named flowers of the same variety at three differ ent stages of bloom, showing color from bud to maturity. The general public, as well as garden club members, is invited to enter any or all horticulture classes and any artistic design class in which they qualify. Marsh all are making their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, follow ing their wedding May 18 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple there and a reception in Med ford May 20. The bride is the former Miss Katherine Lorraine Fer ris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Ferris, 1804 South Peach street, Medford. Mr. Marshall is a son of Mrs. Maria Huff and Norris H. Marshall, Salt Lake City. President John B. Hawks of the Temple presidency of ficiated at the 11:15 o'clock morning rites. Mr. and Mrs. Ferris accompanied the cou ple to the Temple. Among those attending the wedding was Mrs. Lyman Ceremony Weds Miss Templeton, Galen Clifford Bcrean Baptist church, White City, was scene of the wedding Friday, May 20, of Miss Anah Mae Templeton to Galen Wayne Clifford. The bride's parents are Mrs. Jac quetta Templeton, 247 Beatty street, and Glen H. Temple ton, 146 South Holly street. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen W. Clif ford, route 1, box 190, Eagle Point. The Rev. Ray E. Nelson performed the doubh - ring ceremony at 7:30 o'clock in the evening. Mrs. Larry Root, sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor and Gary Dale Clif ford, the bridegroom's broth er, was best man. The bride wore a white sheath dress with a blue and white flowered band about the waist and a matching flowered jacket. She wore a corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Root's dress was a blue sheath and her corsage was of white carnations. Punch and cake were served to the guest following the ceremony. The newlyweds are making their home near Eagle Point following a wed ding trip to the coast. The bride attended Med ford schools and is now a stu dent at Medford Beauty school. The bridegroom, a graduate of Eagle Point High school, is employed by Berg man Welding shop. Piano Recital Is Recent Event A piano recital by pupils of student affiliate members of the Oregon Music Teach ers association was given re cently at Purucker Piano House. It was the second an nual recital presented by the affiliates and was of special interest to OMTA members as it demonstrated the qual ity of work the teachers were doing. Affiliates who entered pu pils were the Misses Shirley Hopkins, Darelyn Huson and Roberta Willett. The pupils gave a varied program, ranging from Bach in the classical period, to Gil lock of the contemporary pe riod. Receiving instruction from the affiliates are Russ Fergu son, Greg Johnston, John Wes- terfield, Greg Barnett, Diana Heidemann, Anne Branch field, Reta Culy, Judy Wilson, Fredia Gooltz, Joyce Phelan, Alice Cook, Judy Fogelquist and Patty McQuigg. Granddaughter Is Valedictorian Central Point-Mr. and Mrs, R. L. Isaacs, Taylor road, have received word that their granddaughter, Sandy Rae McKcnzie, has been named valedictorian of her graduat ing class at Bladcnsburg, Maryland, High school. The student is a daughter of Major and Mrs. Don H, McKcnzie, Hyattsville, Md., former residents of Medford Major McKcnzie was a teach. er in Medford junior high school from 1938 to 1941 and Mrs. McKenzie is the former Dorothy Isaacs, a graduate of Medford High school. Guests Here Mr. and Mrs. Gordon De Armond have been guests at the home of Mrs. Do Ar mond's mother. Mrs. Nellie Granger, 2303 Spring street. For her wedding and re ception the bride wore a floor length gown of white embroidered nylon fashioned with scoop neckline and long sleeves. It was trimmed with sequins and pearls and her fingertip length veil was held by a tiara of lace and pearls. She carried a nosegay center ed with a white orchid. The Friday evening recep tion was held at the Medford Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the rec reation hall. In the receiving line with the newlyweds were Mrs. Clifford Nielsen, Redding, Calif., sister of the bride, who was matron of honor; Miss Sharon Ferris, Medford, an other sister, who was brides maid, and Clifford Nielsen, Redding, who served as best man. Mrs. Nielsen and Miss Fer ris wore frocks of lavender cotton print with lavender chiffon overskirts. Their flow ers were white carnations. Ushers were Nate Banery and Terry Payne, Gold Hill, with Paul and Clair Ferris, brothers of the bride, assist ant ushers. For her daughter's recep tion Mrs. Ferris wore a light blue sheath frock with or chid corsage. Baskets of lavender iris and white peonies decorated the room for the reception. They were placed on either side of a heart-shaped arch covered with white satin ribbon and orchid colored bows. Serving for the reception were Mrs. Charles Smith, who cut and served the tiered wed ding cake, Mrs. John Wilford, Mrs. D w a i n e Nelson, and Mrs. Clinton Phelps. Miss De lores Risley was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Mar win Despain, Miss Sharon Huffman and Miss R o n d a Martin were at the gift tables. Following the wedding in Salt Lake City a dinner was given for the couple by Mrs. Marta Huff, mother of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Lula Massey. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ferris, and Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Hixon, un cle and aunt of the bride, Salt Lake City. For her traveling attire the bride wore a white brocade sheath dress with white ac cessories. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and the Latter-day Saints Business college. She is a secretary for the Guarantee Trust Deed Corporation in Salt Lake City. At the college she was affili ated with Lambda Delta Sig ma scholastic fraternity. Mr. Marshall attended Granite High school and the LDS Business college and is a salesman and bookkeeper for the Burloch Furniture com pany in Salt Lake City. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored at a linen shower given by Mrs. Hors ley, the former R a m o n a Baugh of Medford, and her sister, Miss Naomi Baugh, Salt Lake City. Members Honor Winner of Award Mrs. Edward P. Barnett, winner of the Medford Jay- ceettes first annual awaru of merit, was guest of honor Tuesday at a luncheon meet ing of Kiwanian Dames. The event was held in the home of Mrs. John Raapke. Mrs. Barnett, a past presi dent of Kiwanian Dames, was nominated by the club for the Jaycette contest. ' Mrs. Barnett 'was presented an orchid, and for dessert a large cake, baked and deco rated by Mrs. E. Ronald Rice, was served. A check for $100 was giv en to the Kiwanis club to pay for a new drill recently pur chased for use in the county wide clinic sponsored by the Kiwanians. This was the last meeting of the season for the club, and plans were made to hold a swim parly and coffee during the vacation months. Sessions will be resumed in the fall. Assisting Mrs. Raapke were Mrs. Robert Hart, Mrs. Rice, Mrs. William Peek and Mrs. L. Paul Walker. Gold HmWoman To Be Hostess Contemporary Book club will meet June 1 at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. MacLeod Maurice, in Gold Hill. Mrs. Maurice will be hostess for luncheon and will also give the program. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Shama Shama-Christean Ceremony Held at Catholic Church The wedding of Miss Patri cia Lucille Christean to John L. Shama was an event of May 6 at Sacred Heart Cath olic church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Christean, Grants Pass, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shama, 3502 Crater Lake avenue, Medford. The Rev. William McLeod performed the double - ring ceremony at two o'clock in the afternoon. Baskets of orange blossoms provided a setting for the rites. Miss Mary Robertson was at the organ. The bride, whose father gave her in marriage, wore a Medford Student To Return Home; Wedding Day Set Miss Mary Kathryn Conroy, who was graduated from Marylhurst college May 21 with the degree of bachelor of science in education, will arrive in Medford Tuesday. Miss Conroy is a daughter of Mrs. C. T. McKinley, 1102 West Ninth street. Mrs. McKinley was in Marylhurst for the graduation ceremonies. After leaving school Miss Conroy went to Portland where she is the guest of friends and Wednesday at tended graduation ceremonies at Portland State university. Her fiance, James Franklin Conser, was a member of the class. The wedding of Miss Con roy and Mr. Conser has been set for June 25 in Sacred Heart Catholic church here, and in August Mr. Conser will report for duty with the United States Air Force in Middlesex, England. He was commissioned in the Force at graduation. Miss Conroy's graduation ended an active college career. Her minor was in home eco nomics, and she has served as state vice-president of the col lege clubs section of the Ore gon Home Economics associ ation. At the Senior Ball in the Rose Bowl of the Multnomah hotel on May 13, she was a member of the Miss Maryl hurst court, chosen by student vote on the basis of charm; friendliness, and loyalty to Marylhurst traditions. Miss Conroy, who is listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities for 1960, has attained the dean's honor list and has been ser- retary of the Associated Stu dents of Marylhurst college as well as of her class in junior year. As a singer in the college chorus and the selected Chor alists group, Miss Conroy has appeared frequently both on and off campus. In her sopho more year she was crowned Queen of the Carnival. Shower Given For Bride-Elect Miss Simonne Petard was the honored guest at a bridal shower Wednesday evening, May 18, held in the staff room of Elk Lumber company. Miss Frances Thrun was hostess. Spring flowers decorated the room. Guests played games. Refreshments were served. Miss Petard is to be married June 4 to Joseph Munneke, Sacramento. Twenty-eight guests sttend ed the shower. June Meeting Set By League The June meeting of the Eleanor Roosevelt league will be held Wednesday, June 1, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. William Dvatherage. 1701 Stratford avenue, Medford. Plans for the summer will be discussed. Dawn and Leslie Gutches, children of the bride's cousin, served as flower girl and ring bearer. William Morse, Cen tral Point, was best man. Ushers were Gerald Chris tean, brother of the bride, Grants Pass, and Ronald Har rison. A reception for the newly weds followed at the home of the bridegroom's parents. Miss Lorraine Scalberg poured punch and Mrs. Vern Hulse poured coffee. Mrs. Donald Pigg cut the cake, and Mrs. Jack Veal took charge of the gifts. Mrs. James Scalberg was at the guest book. Baskets of flowers decor ated the rooms. The young couple is resid ing at 401 East 12th street following a wedding trip to the coast. The bride wore a summer suit with black ac cessories for traveling. The bride attended Grants Pass High school and is em ployed by the Business Serv ice Bureau as a secretary. The bridegroom, who attend ed Crater High school and Southern Oregon college, is a salesman with Acme Realty, Central Point. Pupils Present Spring Recital Elementary and advanced music students of Mrs. Peggy Apollo presented a spring re cital Tuesday evening at the First Southern Baptist church. Sheppard, 2660 Crater Lake avenue, became the bride of William Clayton Weeks, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Weeks, Glendale, Ore., in a ceremony May 21 at the Sheppard's home. Dr. George G. Roseberry of First Methodist church offi ciated at the two o'clock af ternoon rites attended by 25 relatives and friends. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white Chantilly lace sheath frock over white s atin fashioned with long sleeves. Her flow ers were pink carnations and roses. Miss Linda Sheppard at tended her sister. She wore a yellow brocaded taffeta frock with full organdy sleeves. Her flowers were white carnations. Terrance Eagle, Boise, Ida ho, cousin of the bride, serv ed as best man. Following the ceremony a buffet supper was held. Bas kets of white stock and pink carnations and roses decorat ed the room for the wedding and reception. Mrs. Sheppard chose a lavender print chiffon sheath frock over lavender taffeta. Mrs. Weeks wore a charcoal gray and white dress. Their flowers were pink and white carnations. The bride is a graduate of St. Mary s High school and is a saleslady in the women's fashion department of Sears, Roebuck company. Brown presented her piano class in a recital the afternoon of May 22 at Purucker Piano house. The Rev. John Si mon officiated at the double ring rites held at eight o'clock in the evening. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Woodward, Route 1, Box 92, Eagle Point. Mr. Christian's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christian, Brownsboro road. Mrs. Robert R. Raffelly played the organ wedding mu sic and accompanied Norman Woodward and Mrs. John Mil lard, who sang. Yellow carna tions and stock decorated the altar for the wedding and ivy and candles were in the church windows. A founder's day ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Gladys Sloan, who incorporated the Delta Kappa Gamma flower, the red rose, and lighted tap ers in the program.
