MORNING GLORY LEAGUE Alley Cats defeated Kool Kats 1488 to 1467 in the cham pionship playoff in the Morn ing Giory Bowlirg league. Members of the titular team are Myrna Adams, Vicki Mek vold and Nancy Eicher, all first -year bowlers. Third Decision For Sam Jones United Press International San Francisco - d'PD - Sam Jones posted his second three hitter and third victory of the season Friday night and the San Francisco Giants pounced on Vernon Law for three home runs while drubbing the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-1. Jones rationed Pittsburgh to singles by Rocky Nelson and Bob Skinner then gave up a bases -empty home run to Roberto Clemente in the sev enth Inning which spoiled Jones' hopes for a shutout. Law Gets Willies Big Sam now has registered two three hitters to go with a one-hit job so far this season and it only is getting started. Law, who had won all four nf his decisions this year and gone the distance in each case, literally got the willies Fri day night before gloating crowd at Candlestick park. (UP1 Teleplioto) Red Raiders Upset OTI in Track Meet Ashland Southern Oregon college scored a decisive up set victory over Oregon Tech 89-41 in a track meet on the Raider oval Friday that saw three SOC records broken. Aslander Stu Baker again led the way for the Raiders with a double win. He ran the lUO-yard dash, where he tied his own school record of -.10 flat, won the 220 and ran a leg of the record breaking mile relay. Howard H a r t m a n was another double winner for the Raiders with verdicts in the high and low hurdles. Hart man also got a share of anoth er first. He tied with team mate Mike Maki in the high jimp at 5 feet 8 inches. Maki also got a first in the broad jtimp with a leap of 19 feet 7 Vi inches. Len Dobry took two events and set .a record in the shot put.. He put the shot 46 feet 52 inches, and threw the dis cus 130-8. Don Korth broke his own SOC Baseball Club Tops Mountaineers Ashland Southern Oregon college kept its hopes alive for a third consecutive Ore gon Collegiat conference base ball title by whipping Eastern Oregon college 9-2 on the Raider diamond Friday. Victory gave the Ashland- ers a 7-2 standing in the OCC compared to the 9-2 mark of look heading Oregon college. Opportunity for the Raiders to grab another pair of de cisions and pull even with the Wolves was wiped out when an EOC-SOC twinbill set for Saturday was cancel led because of rain and wet grounds. The scraps are not to be made up. It was lefty John Younger again getting the win, his fifth of the season against one defeat. Younger struck out nine and Talked three. He aided offensively with two hits and knocked across two runs to aid his winning cause. Five Hit Twice Jess Munyon, Bob Jones, Kerm McLemore, Jack Brown, and Younger all got two hits for the winning Raid ers who are on the heels of league leading Oregon col lege. EOC scored first in the opening inning with a pair of singles and stolen base. The Pirates Cop Track Fray Phoenix - Phoenix High grabbed the first places in 12 of the 14 events here Friday afternoon to crush Illinois Valley 88 23 to 33 13 in dual track meet. Fred Lumley was a triple victor for the Pirates with tri umphs in the two dashes and the broad jump. Gary Chriss won the high hurdles and high jump and Ron Baker te discus and shot put. Firsts for IV were taken by Loren Meredith in the low hurdles and Mike Hanby, in the pole vault. In the third Phil Sword walked, Jones singled and Mc Lemore was safe on an error to load the bases. Brown sing led home two runs and Mc Lemore scored on a passed ball. Four more tallies crossed thep late in the seventh when McLemore started things with j a walk. Brown sacrificed and was safe on an error with McLemore scoring. BYU Captures Track Meet Provo, Utah-ilTD - Brigham Young University Saturday won its-fourth consecutive In termountain AAU track and field championship and set two new records doing it. A total of four records were set during the meeting held for the first time at BYU stadium before about 2,300 fans. BYU got a total of 66 13 team points. Second was Utah State University with 46 13 point, followed by Idaho State college with 25 13 and Uni versity of Utah with 20. The Provo team set records in the mile relay and in the 440 yard run. Levi McDonald Trial Continues Portland - d'PD - Testimony in the trial of Levi S. Mc Donald of Portland here Fri day included a charge bv a former Oregonian Storeotyp- er that McDonald asked him to drive two accomplices to the site of one of the truck bombings of the struck Port land newspapers Jan. 31. Oren Hull, who has not yet been charged in the case, said that McDonald had him drive two men to the Oregon Film Service location. Hull said he did not know what would take place until a few minutes before the planting of the dynamite in four Film Service trucks. McDonald is charged in connection with destruction of property by dynamite.
