In re-examining lfil obesity studies reported in the last H0 Wall Street Chatter New York -OTH-With his customary candor, R. E. Buschsbaum of W. E. llutton & Co. reports ''the market" has become exceedingly diffi- ' cult to write about nowadays and for the most part has made dull and unprofitable reading. In a period such as this, he believes, it is more profitable and more interesting to dis cuss individual stocks than to try to outguess what the aver ages are going to do. One can't help wondering how concerned the brokerage houses arc over the large drop in trading volume on the ma jor stock exchanges so far this year. The New York Stock Exchange currently is running about 18 per cent be hind last year while the American Exchange has sagged a noteworthy 47 per cent. Excellent values at the present lime, according to Goodbody & Co., are Allied Chemical, American Cynamid and Olin Mathieson, all of which should experience a worthwhile growth in earn ings in I960 and in later years.
