'e Thmday, Mty S, 1961 Fund Drive Head For Area Named S'3 Mrs. Edwin Olds, 903', 4 West 11th St., will head the Medford fund drive for the City of Hope National Med ical center early next month, it was announced today. Contributions will be sought to help support the three point program of patient care, research and postgraduate medical education at the free, nonsectarlan medical facility, Mrs. Olds said. She called attention to the nationwide scope of the City of Hope, which accepts pa tients from all parts of the country, and, in turn, is as sisted financially by almost i 400 auxiliaries from coast to coast and donations of inch viduals everywhere who sub scribe to its humanitarian objectives. "Although approaching the half-century mark of services to others, the City of Hope has never presented a bill to anyone," Mrs. Olds pointed out. "We believe this to be a remarkable record of philan thropic achievement on the highest possible level. Located near Pasadena, Calif., the City of Hope Na tional Medical center accepts victims of physically, emotion ally and financially catastro phic diseases on referral from private physicians. It special izes in cancer, leukemia blood, chest and heart dis orders. Last year 28,000 pa tients received treatment. School News CP Junior High Eighth grade students of the Central Point Junior Hign school attended the Jackson county school forestry tour of the John Black timber demon stration tract. The program is sponsored by the Oregon State college, United States agriculture de partment, and the Jackson county schools. The tour requires about two hours In the field with seven 15-mlnute stops. Under discus sion was commercial thinning, seed production, fire control, tree planting, commercial tree culture, tree Identification, pruning and soli and root re lationships. Information Is provided by Hie state forestry department, the Industrial Forestry asso ciation, the forest service, soil conservation service, the bureau of land management and the Jackson county exten sion service. The Central Point elemen tary and Junior High school chorus and director, Mrs. Jo anne Sousa, have expressed appreciation for the new capes. "You just can't trust any body these days," Chlattelcy said. Amazed officers learned Chlattelcy had broken Into a home and made off with two cameras, a radio and some sil verware. Then he carefully slashed the loot In a bus depot locker. That was the last he saw of It. When he came back to pick up the loot he found the lock er broken open. Inside was a note, reading: "This locker has been bur glarized. Please report your loss to the management and file a claim." That's what made him mad enough to call police.
