Miss Gaily a Guinotte Bride of LeRoy IValland Miss Gailya Guinotte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Meier, 1301 Fortune drive, became the bride of LeRoy Walland, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Walland, 3113 Ross lane, in a ceremony April 8 at First Presbyterian church. Dr. D. Kirkland West offi ciated at the double ring rites held at 8 o'clock in the eve ning. More than 100 relatives and friends attended. The bride wore a white bal lerina length Chantilly lace over satin gown fashioned with fitted bodice and long sleeves. The scoop neckline was accented with a band of iridescent sequins and the skirt had lace panels in the front and back which were caught at the sides with lace and sequin rosettes. Her fingertip length veil was of silk illusion and was held by a lace bonnet embroidered with pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of hyacinth sprays encircling a white or chid. Mr. Meier gave his step daughter in marriage. Miss JoAnn Jamison was maid of honor. She wore a ballerina length dress of pow der blue silk organza with matching bandeau with veil. Miss Deanna Kunkel was bridesmaid. Her frock was of white lace over powder blue and her bandeau also held a veil. They carried cascade bouquets of white carnations with blue ribbons. Keith Paschke served as best man and ushers were Paul Neiscombe and Richard Brown. Blue iris and white stock decorated the church for the wedding. Blue bows marked the pew ends. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Meier chose a powder blue silk sheath dress with matching jacket and blue and white accessories. Her stole was grey fur and she had her corsage on her purse. Mrs. Wahand wore a silver brocade sheath and matching jacket and black accessories. Her furs were brown. Their cor sages were white carnations. For traveling the bride wore a rose red suit with white accessories and the white orchid from her bridal bouquet. They arc making their home at 321 Palm street, Ashland. The bride is a senior at Medford High school. Mr. Walland attended Medford High school and Oregon State college. He is employed by the Oregon Food store, Ashland. Among the guests attending the wedding were the grand parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Kunkel, Medford. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyers, Springfield, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ohlund, Yreka, Calif.; and Mrs. Carl Hammel, Albany, Ore. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored at a mis cellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Ronald Plank enhorn. Other hostesses were the Misses Jeanne Bevis, Heather Norrls and Lynnda Neal. Lavender and white decor ations were used with dark purple lilacs. About 30 friends attended. 1 Family Dinner Held on Sunday A family gathering and Easter dinner were held last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Emmert, Med ford. Relatives were Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hammonds Sr. and children and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dunn and daughters, all of Eagle P.oint; Mr. and Mrs. Lindell Carney and children and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Ham monds Jr. and daughter, Med ford; Mrs. Robert Perry and children. Central Point; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reese, Prospect; and Mr. and Mrs. William Carney, Redding. William Carney, Mrs. Em mert, Mrs. Hammonds Sr., Mrs. Dunn and Lindell Car ney are cousins. An Easter egg hunt and games followed the dinner. The William Carneys spent the week end with relatives in the valley. l l i - UHUUJt Mr. and Mrs. Business Women Endorse Purpose of New Council Medford Business and Pro fessional Women's club en dorsed the statement of pur pose of the Medford Human Rights council at their meet ing Thursday evening at the Jackson hotel. During the meeting Mrs. F. R. Faulkner was re-elected president of the club for the coming year. Other officers elected at the dinner meeting were Miss Gladys Durrand, first vice-president; Mrs. Rich ard L. Williams, second vice president; Mrs. Roy Keim, re cording secretary; Mrs. Rich ard L. Chamberlain, treas urer; Mrs. C.H. Redmond, cor responding secretary; Mrs. Florence Lance, auditor, and Mrs. Earl Miller, director. Miss Margaret McGee, member of the Medford club and on the staff of Congress woman Edith Green in Wash ington, D.C., was elected offi cial delegate from the club to the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's clubs convention in Philadelphia in July. Delegates elected to the state convention in Salem May 13 through 15 were Miss Durrand, Mrs. Ethel Tennant, Mrs.' Chamberlain, and Mrs. Keim. Mrs. H. F. Friel will serve as an alternate. Also at tending the state convention will be Mrs. Faulkner and Miss Laura York, past state president. Five new members were Initiated during a candlelight Women Attend District Meeting Mrs. Albert Hunteman, 2207 Capital avenue, was elec ted delegate to the Oregon dis trict convention of the Luth eran Women's Missionary League. She will represent the Ladies' Aid of St. Peter's Lutheran church, Medford, at the session In Portland April 27 and 28. Also attending from Med ford will be Mrs. Milan Bever, Mrs. G. J. Wolff and Mrs. Ed win Guetzlaff . Mrs. Guetzlaff is chairman of the Southern Oregon zone of the Lutheran Women s Missionary League. Convention theme will be "Laborers Together." Forty- seven societies will partcipate in a Mission Fair to be held April 27 in the gymnasium of Concordia college. Pi Phis Plan Founders' Event Jackson county alumnae of PI Beta Phi social sorority will hold their founder's day dinner Thursday, April 28, at 6:30 o'clock in the Medford hotel. Mrs. E. H. Loveness is rep resenting the Medford club at the Southern Oregon District conference April 23 and 24 in Klamath Falls. Miss Marjorie Blizzard, state first vice-president, and Miss Lucille Norton, state second vice-president. are principal speakers at the conference. A letter of appreciation was read from the Girl Scout Council thanking the club for the donation of two Girl Scout camperships to Camp Low Echo this summer. . A joint session of the two lodges is scheduled in the Medford hall. All Rebekah lodge members and visiting members of Rebekah and Odd Fellows lodges are invited. Several Jewels will be pre sented to members of the IOOF lodge in recognition of may years of membership. Coin Week Starts Today; Display Set Members of the Rogue Val ley Coin club will observe National Coin Week by dis playing their coin collections in the lobby of the First Na tional Bank of Oregon, Med ford branch. "Why it pays to be a numis matist" is the theme of this year's coin week, which be gins today and ends April 30. It Is sponsored by the American Numismatic asso ciation and is aimed at telling the fascinating story of coins and coin collecting. The public is invited to view the display and to talk with the club members' in charge. Betrothal Told During Luncheon Announcement of the en gagement of Miss Joan Esther Walden to Ray L. Bilderback was announced yesterday at a luncheon. The bride-elect is daughter of Mrs. Wilbur L. Walden, 848 West McAn drews road, Medford, and the late Mr. Walden. Mr. Bilder back is the son of Mrs. W. H. Turley, Coleman Creek road. Medford, and L. M. Bilder back, Medford. The luncheon was given by Mrs. Walden at her home. In the evening Miss Walden en tertained fellow employees at the local Western Union of fice, and revealed the news to them. Both Miss Walden and Mr. Bilderback are graduates of Medford High school. Miss Walden has been employed at the Western Union office in Medford since her graduation. Mr. Bilderback is employed at Sayre and Toso, San Fran cisco, as a tabulating super visor. Grove announce the engagement of their daughter, Janice Marie, to Joseph E. Hasler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hasler, Table Rock road, Medford. Miss Grove, who is a gradu ate of Phoenix High school, is attending the Southern Ore gon School of Practical Nurs ing, and will be graduated in September. Mr. Hasler is a graduate of St. Mary's school and is employed at Medford Concrete Construction com pany. A June wedding is planned. Shower Honors Mrs. Konopasek Mon Desir Dining Inn was the setting for a surprise shower for Mrs. Clifford Kon opasek Monday, April 11. Mrs. Julia Tummers, owner- manager of the inn, was hostess. Individual tables were dec orated with miniature swans and lilacs and bouquets of lilacs and a large stork were arranged on the gift table. The group will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at the home of Mrs. Otto Nagel, Eagle Point. Roll call is to be answered by naming botanists who named native herbs In Oregon. Each member is asked to come with sketches and Ideas to help the committee with the colonial herb garden which will be entered at the Medford Garden's club show May 14. The Herb club has a library of 28 cloth-bound and IS paper-bound books, plus many magazines and government bulletins. There are a total of 220 pieces, all of which are catalogued. Honey was the topic of the March meeting. Mrs. Nagel talked about honey and its value to health and Mrs. L. W. Lingscheit spoke concerning the display of different kinds of honey. Mrs. Carolyn Mueller and Kiwanian Dames Plan Party Kiwanian Dames will hold a luncheon and business meet ing Tuesday, April 26, at noon at the home of Mrs. John Dellenback, 257 Wind sor avenue. Hostesses for the afternoon will be Mrs. John Dellenback, chairman, who will be assist ed by Mrs. Arthur Savard, Mrs. Darl Gleed, Mrs. Don McNeill, Mrs. Wayne Struble.
