Wednesday, Apr. 20. 1960 B MAIL TWBUNI, Mtdf.rd, On 'Delicious' Colors This Year Appealing for 'Fashion' Taste tne colors for the new season might well have come right out of the Easier Bunny's basket! The colors for spring time are an array of clear-tinted water-colors ... or a fresh box of assorted bon-bons . . . or may even be comparable to the listing of ice cream flavors. Yes, this season's colors are "delicious" all ways - appeal ing to the eye, delectable to the "fashion taste" and mouth watering in their nomencla ture. White - whites are milky, vanilla flavored, oyster-toned, cream, oatmeal and bisque tinted. Beige - there's a cool and fresh look to the beige family for spring. Pale almonds, but ter creams, bamboo and light toast are the diverse hues of this color range. Yellow - there's a real fiesta of paled yellows for the season ahead. There's lemon and citron, saffron and butter, quince and peach, apricot and flax; to name but a few! Green - what wonderful greens to be seen this season! Out of the orchards and gar den come lime greens, pale apple greens, soft lettuce tones; mint and moss greens are smart and new-looking as are grass hues, the olives and all the many variations of leaf greens. Reds - from true pinks to variations on orange - red themes - there's a new ap pearance to red - it's paled down, cool-looking and de- ?- ' f - ' ' s signed to accent or blend with all the many new pale colon. Pale cherries, gentle vin rose, fresh shrimp, apricot and rosy peach, strawberry par fait, whipped cranberry and fosting pinks are t) e diversi fied notes of the red color scale. Blues - there's a brighter look to navy and a paler look to the low-keyed blues. Bluet Borrowed Blues are borrowed from the landscape of a fresh spring day . . . here are some of the newsmakers: the blue of the sky, the blues of a robin's egg, the blue of cornflower, blue bell and wisteria. Blues mi pretty as a calm sea, a pea cock's feather and bluebird's back are repeated In sparkling silks, rich cottons, luxurious suitings and coatings. Blues slip gently into the purple tones this year, as pan sy purples, lilacs and laven ders bloom throughout the fashions scene. Good violet becomes an im portant color after five, and mauve -cast blues and rose cast mauves step into the bright sunlight. Brown - now so new for spring when combined with pastels, used for accents or en dorsement for checks, r'aids or multi-stripes - is a surprise favorite! Importantly New Brown stands in harmony with the loveliest prints of the year. Bark tones, chocolate, sienna, mocha, raisin and lots of variations or coffee-with-cream are importantly new. Cafe espresso, rich and sul try, is the elegant touch for those who take their coffee "black." Again and again, such shades as burnt almonds, dark toast, cedar and nut browns stand out. Greys - from light to dark, grey is seen in woolens pri marily - especially the beige grey - called greige, or com bined with pastels in plaids and stripes; blacks are big when combined with white or the new pale tones; bright. hot shades blaze at their best in night settings but generally it's the great white way and the pale-glowing pastels that are making exciting fashion copy this seasonl THE' COAT FOR SPRING 1360-One of the newest looks in coats for the coming season is the double-breasted design with braid trim outlining the front.
