ecialty hop I T 7; VL0S Evy Norland's and Jimmy Darren's romance blossomed on studio lots and led to a "wedding with trimmings." It was love, all right but will it be strong enough to beat Hollywood's jinx? people. Then I looked over to where Jimmy was seated, and he smiled at me reassuringly. After a couple of smiles, I guess I was hooked." Jimmy takes up the tale from there. "I asked Evy to lunch, which for me consisted mainly of vitamin and protein pills that day, and she thought I was pretty weird. After lunch, I walked her back to Stage 11 where she had English classes. I wanted to ask her to come for a drive, but I didn't have the nerve. I walked away, maybe 20 steps, before I turned around and blurted out very un romantically, "Will you come for a drive with me?' "She said, 'yes,' just as unromantically, and we drove to the beach. We just sat there talking about all sorts of things for two or three hours. By the time we got back, , we were going steady." Richt now the newlyweds are honeymooning in Europe and meeting Evy's folks in her native Denmark. When they get back, Evy says proudly, there'll be no house hunting. "We already have a 3 -room apartment in Hollywood. We picked it together. And all of our furni ture. It's Danish modem." Evy's theatrical career is just beginning. She's made only one picture, "The Flying Fontaines," for Columbia, but Jimmy's career is booming. Currently, he's in "All the Young Men" with Alan Ladd, and hell make "The Guns of Navarone" next. Besides his movies, Jimmy's singing, which he always figured was just of the "shower variety," has made him even more popular with teen-agers. He sang two songs in "Gidget" that resulted in a recording contract Since then, several of his releases have been high up on the "best-seller" lists. With the professional success that has come their way and with each other, Jimmy and Evy Norlund Darren feel that life has been good to them.
