Weber, Med ford, have been elected offi cer in their living groups at Oregon State college. Miss Elden, a junior in edu cation, will be president of Alpha Phi, one of 17 sororities on the OSC campus. Miss Weber, a sophomore in home economics, will be treasurer , of .Sigma Kappa. Woman Arrives For Visit Here Mrs. Ross Groshon, Gris- wold, Iowa, arrived in Med ford Wednesday evening from Santa Barbara, Calif., to visit at the home of Mrs. Fred Rankin, 18 Richmond avenue. Mrs. Groshong, who has been spending- the winter visitine friends and relatives in Santa Ana, Glendale and Santa Barbara, was a college roommate of Mrs. Rankin at Rockford College for Women in Illinois, and has often been a guest at her former home in Omaha and Blair. Director Announces Cast For High School Musical Lynn Sjolund, director of the Medford High school choir, has announced the cast for the production "Oklaho ma" which will be presented April 21-23 at the school. Double cast in the role of Curly, the ;hero of, the play will be John Frohnmayer and Calvin Dean. John Frohn mayer will be playing his third lead in as many years in Medford High school operettas. The feminine lead role of Laurey is also double cast, with Janet Mhyre and Bar bara Tyler sharing the hon ors. Ado Annie the comedienne, will be payed -on alternate nights by Sara Hinkle and Linda Samuelson. Other featured roles will include Rosiland Handles as Aunt Eller; Keith Berg as Jud; and Kenneth Hall as All Hakim, the Persian peddler, Ike Skidmore, owner of the ranch where Curly works, will be portrayed by Wally Huffman. The role of Ado Annie's father, Andrew Car- nes, will be played by Joel Gregory. The sheriff, Cord Elam. will feature Dave Lundquist, Kathy Allen and play Gertie, the other woman in Curly's life. Cowboys Fred and Slim will be Bill Rupp and Ralph Lobdell, - Supporting roles will in clude Ellen, Sharon Smith; F a y e, Christine Hillstead; Virginia, Julie Gandt; Vi- viene, Diane Hunter, and ranch hands, Jim Henson, Art House and Mike Gardner. All leading roles except those which have been double cast will have understudies. Students cast for this include Charlene Highland, Ralph Lobdell, Wally Huffman, Bill Rupp, Lynn Knight and Lu cille Lowry. The musical will go into full rehearsal next week. Ticket sales begin on April 4. ': Newlyweds Live in Ohio Mr. and Mrs. Richard Allen Spry left for Piqua, Ohio, to make their home following their wedding Saturday, March 12, in Ascension Lu theran church.' The bride is the former Beverly Mae Bristow, daugh ter of Mrs. A. C. Phelan, 921 North Central avenue, and D. A. Bristow, Drain. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. Spry, Piqua." The Rev. Elvin S. Tollefjon performed their wedding at 1 o'clock in the afternoon be fore a small number of friends and relatives. The bride wore a light blue frock. Her flowers were white and red roses. Miss Jeannine Mae, Rogue River, the brides maid, wore a pale pink dress with white roses. Ron Kaer was best man. Mrs. Phelan was hostess for a reception which followed at the Phelan home. The bride was graduated from Eagle Point High school and the bridegroom was grad uated from Piqua Central High school. She has been employed by Van Lee's store. f Pops Concert Announced , The Philharmonic Society of Southern Oregon will pre sent a pops concert Sunday afternoon, May 1, at the Med ford High school auditorium as a benefit toward restora tion of the United States hotel in Jacksonville. The afternoon of light popu lar . music, under Director Richard D. Werner, is spon sored by the society to further the goal of $8,500 which the Pioneer Sites Foundation has set for restoration of the old hotel. The public is invited to the concert. It will begin at 3 p.m. Committee Headsi Invitations Out Announced For Annual Luncheon Committees have been an nounced for the traditional Easter Monday luncheon sponsored by St. Anne's Altar society of Sacred Heart Catho lic church. The event will be held April 18 at Rogue Valley Country club beginning with luncheon at 12:30 o'clock. Bridge, pinochle, canasta and other card games will be played. . Mrs. William Cowning and Mrs. Vincent Nicoletti are co chairmen. Mrs. John Jensen will be in charge of decora tions; Mrs. Dan Hull, score pads; Mrs. Joseph Moore, tal lies; Mrs. Raymond Wise, in dividual centerpieces; Mrs. Laurence Espey, prizes; Mrs. R. A. Davis gave a luncheon' at her home, 909 King street, Tuesday after noon to honor her two sis ters. They are Mrs. Ethel Couch and Mrs. Daisy Clapp, both of Bismark, N.D. The decorations and menu were in the St. Patrick's day theme. Mrs. Couch and Mrs. Clapp, who have been guests here since the holidays, will leave for Portland and their home the latter part of this week. Sojourners club will have their semi-annual guest day meeting at 12:30 Thursday, March 24, at the Girls Community club. The program will consist of a fash ion review and card playing. Glub Convention To Be Thursday Mrs. Hildred M. Zell, Was co, Ore., will be guest speaker for a convention of the First District, Oregon Federation of Women's clubs, to be held in Medford March 24.. Mrs. Zell is a past president of the Ore gon Federation and chairman of the disarmament division, International Affairs depart ment, of the General Federa tion of Women's clubs. Convention sessions will be held in First Methodist church, West Main and Laurel streets. Mrs. Zell has served on the board of the General Federa tion since 1950 and is also chairman of the board of trustees of the scholarship loan and fellowship fund of the Oregon Federation. Mrs. Walter Brown, Klam ath Falls, Oregon Federation president, will also attend the convention and speak. Mrs. Carl W. Peterson, Ashland, First District president, states that registration will begin at 9 a.m. Medford Junior - Women's club and Travel Study club members will be chairman and co-chairman for the event. They will have a coffee hour from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. for all the clubs in the First Dis trict, which consists of Curry Klamath, Josephine and Jack son counties. The morning session is plan ned from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be a president's panel discussion, internation al Affairs panel, and election of officers, at the morning session. Luncheon will be served at 12:15 p.m. The afternoon session will start at 1:30 pjn. A Vogue fashion show will be directed by, the Junior club. Judges will choose the best piece of clothing and it will be en tered in state competition. Mrs. Zell will speak on "The East and West Meet." Mrs. Zell went on the Gen eral Federation of Women's International clubs convention tour last summer, when they visited the Phillipmes and Japan. Following this will be in stallation of District officers Mrs. Brown will be installing officer. Mrs. Peterson reminds all members of the District clubs to attend the business session in the morning, and added that women who do not be long to federated clubs are invited to the luncheon and the afternoon session.
