Evangelist to
Start Meetings
The Rev. James E. Kratz,
evangelist, musician, organ
ist, and youth worker, begins
a series of meetings in the
First Church of the Nazar
ene, 520 North Holly st.,
Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30
p.m. He will then hold the
services nightly at 7:30 p.m.
through March 13, except for
Saturdays. Mr. Kratz will
provide a fifteen-minute sa
cred concert before each serv
ice at 7:15 p.m. The concerts
are free to the public.
Mr. Kratz is now under ap
pointment as missionary to
Brazil for the Church of the
Nazarene and currently en
gaged in evangelism. The pas
tor of the local church, the
Rev. Harold M. Sanner, said
that Mr. and Mrs. Kratz plan
to leave for South America
this year.
At First Church of the Na
zarene he will be featured in
in the Sunday school hour at
9:45 a.m. each Sunday, and
also in the youth services at
6 p.m.
Sunday the church con
tinues its emphasis on "Revi
val Preparation Days." The
pastor will preach at the 11
a.m. service on "Will God An
swer Prayer for Revival?" In
the 7 p.m. hour, his subject
will be "The Divine Demand
for Dependence."

Dr. E. P. Fosmark, general
director of the Conservative
Baptist Association of Ore
gon, will conduct a workshop
on visitation . evangelism in
the Sunday school at First
Baptist church, Saturday,
Feb. 27, beginning at 2:30
p.m.
Dr. Fosmark has had suc
cess as a pastor in building
churches through the Sunday
school and evangelism and
has been holding workshops
on the subject in a number of
Oregon churches.
The state director will
speak at both worship- serv
ices of the church on Sunday,
giving the message at the 11
a.m. and the 7:45 p.m. hours.
He will also speak at the mid
week service on Wednesday,
March 2, at 7:45 p.m.
Monday and Tuesday, Feb.
29 and March 1, Dr. Fosmark
will conduct training classes
for Sunday school and church
workers in the annex of the
church, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Workers from other Conser
vative Baptist churches in the
area will participate with
those from the Medford
church in these classes. Inter
ested persons from other
churches are welcome to at
tend. The Rev. James Neely is
pastor of the local church.
Church of God Plans
Progress Program
An eight-week Program of
Progress is in its third week
at First Church of God, Haven
and Holly sts.
The Rev. W. E. Martin, pas
tor, stated that the program,
being held in conjunction
with sister churches through
out the state, is designed to
challenge members to a high
er level of service by giving
them a part in planning the
program of the church and in
personally facing up to their
own spiritual responsibilities.
Working with Glenn McCul-
lough, general chairman of
the program, are the follow
ing committee heads: Mrs.
Everett Noss, resources; Mar
ion Helton, promotion; Roy
Hoover, fellowship dinner;
and Pete Ryn, visitations. The
chairmen form the Program
of Progress committee.
In line with the program
theme, Mr. Martins Sunday
morning sermon topic will be
"The Church Facing Up to
Its Task." Wednesday at 7:30
p.m. the pastor will speak on
"Steps We Should Take to
Move Forward."

Paul's Statement
Is Basis for
Sunday Sermon
"Do You Have the Indis
pensable Wisdom?" This ques
tion, . based upon St. Paul's
statement in 1 Cor. 2:1-2, is
the sermon topic chosen for
Sunday's sermon at St. Peter's
Lutheran church, by the Rev.
John E. Simon, pastor of the
church. The service begins at
11 a.m. and it will feature
"Sharing Christ" Sunday.
Immediately after the serv
ice the congregation's Sharing
Christ callers will receive
their assignments for sharing
their faith in Christ with oth
ers who may not yet have
Christ as their personal Sav
ior or who may not yet have
affiliated with a Christian
church in this area.
The Sunday school at St.
Peter's begins at 9:30 a.m.
The classes for all age-groups
and the recently-begun young
people's membership class
will meet immediately fol
lowing the opening service.
A new - adult membership
class, to meet for the first
time on March 10 is now
being organized. It will be
taught by Mr. Simon.
St. Peter's church is again
planning a series of Wednes
day Lenten services. They
will begin Ash Wednesday, I

sermons based on the Scrip
tures dealing with the noted
characters appearing in the
Lenten history. Next Wednes
day's featured character will
be "Peter, the Disciple Who
Denied His Lord."

the 11 a.m. service by the
chancel choir. The soloist for
both worship services is Mrs.
D. G. MacDougall, who will

Open House Set
Sunday by

There will be a "Church
School Open House" at the
close of tne 10 a.m. service
Sunday at the Congregational
church. This is to give the par
ents and other interested peo
ple an opportunity to find out
more about the work of the
school and the courses taught.
First, there will be a gen
eral program conducted by

ter Bish, then there will be an

with the different teachers.

Be Sermon Topics
Pastor Clynton Crisman of
the Friends church will
preach a series of sermons on
the seven churches of chap
ters 2 and 3 of the Book of
Revelation in the 7:30 p.m.
Sunday services between now
and Easter. Sunday evening's
topic will be "The Church at
Ephesus."
In the two morning wor
ship services, 9:45 and 11 a.m.
the subject of the pastor's
message will be "The Pass
over Lamb." Morning mes

Some deny that it is a divine
will; many regard it as authen
tic but do not comply with all
its terms.

Christ's will and testament
has four distinct divisions. Four
books of biography called the
gospels. These record the
birth of Christ, his childhood,
baptism, teaching, miracles, his
enemies, trial, death, resurrec
tion, and his return to heaven.
Next is one book of history;
an explanation of how, when
and where the Church was es
tablished and how to become
a Christian.
Following this book of Acts
are twenty-one books or letters
teaching how to live the Chris
tian life.
It closes with a book of reve
lation, concerning the future of
the Church, and a description
of the heavenly home of the
faithful.
