Locals Miners in Cuitody-Medf ord city police Wednesday night took into protective custody tour Ashland youths on a charge of illegal possession of intoxicating beverages. The youths, William Richard Sny der, 20, Michael John Car- mean, 18, and two 17-year-old juveniles, were stopped by a city policeman who observed one of the youths driving his car on the wrong side of the street on Ninth st., between Bartlett st and Riverside ave. They were taken into custody after the officer found a six- pack container of beer in the car. Hubcaps Stolen -Paul Oli ver Newcomb, 516 Dakota st., told city police that four hub caps, valued at $20 were stol en from his vehicle last night while it was parked on North Riverside ave., between Maple and Austin sts. Permits Issued The city building department issued several permits recently. Walt Young acquired a permit to construct a $1,500 mezzanine at 36 South Bartlett st., James DeWees acquired a $3,000 permit to remodel a residence at 430 DeBarr ave., and Ray Schumacher was issued a $1, 000 permit to remodel a com mercial building at 1617 North Riverside ave. Mclntyre Set for Monday Funeral services for Ernest Delbert Mclntyre, 58, of Jack sonville, who died Thursday, will be held at Conger-Morris Funeral home downtown chapel Monday at 10 ajn. The Rev. King K. Jones of the Jackson v i 1 1 e Presbyterian church will officiate. Commit tal will be in Jacksonville cemetery. - Mr. Mclntyre was born Oct. 11, 1901, on Forest Creek, and had lived in southern Oregon all his life. He attend ed Jacksonville schools, served in the Navy in World War I, and in 1925 he was married to Helen I. Culy, who survives. He owned and operated Mc lntyre Mercantile company, the Jacksonville Variety Store, and Nugget Confec tionery, and at the time of his death was an associate of Jacksonville Market. He was a past member of IOOF lodge, Jacksonville; of Waren lodge, AF&AM, Jack sonville; was charter member and past president of Jack sonville Lions club, served on the Jacksonville school board, and Jacksonville city council, and was active in civic affairs. Survivors, besides his wife, include two sons, Russell Mc lntyre, Jacksonville; Ronald Warren lodge, AF&AM Jack Mclntyre, Empire, Ore.: a daughter, Mrs. Donald R Swanson, Cleveland, Ohio; his mother, Mrs. Lola Mcln tyre, Jacksonville; a brother, Joe Mclntyre, and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Sawyer, both Jacksonville; and nine grand children. Honorary casket bearers will include Ray Coleman,, Ray Wilson, James Noble, Oscar Lewis, and O. W. (Stub) Matheny. Active bearers will include John K e a v e n y, Charles Young, Bruce Blew, M. L. (Doc) Tweedy, Arthur Davies, and Robert Minear. G. JOLLEY Die in Portland Ex-Supervisor of Forest Here Dies L. G. (Larry) Jolley, super visor of the Rogue River Na tional forest for two years in 1951 and 1952, died in a Port land hospital last night, friends here have been in formed. Jolley was assistant region al forester in the Portland of fice of the U.S. forest service, an assignment he took after leaving Medford. He was in charge of informational serv ices for the region. He and his family lived on Westerlund dr., in Medford, In addition to activities con cerning forestry management, he also was a member of the Medford Rotary club. His death followed an ex tended illness, but was not ex pected. Survivors include his wid ow, Isabelle, and two married daughters. Funeral services in Portland are pending. Williams, 57, died last night at the Veterans Ad ministration Domi ciliary, Camp White. Funeral ar rangements will be announced by the Perl Funeral home. MRS. ANN HEAD Applegate Valley - Funeral services for Mrs. Ann Head, 49, former Applegate resident, were held at Hull and Hull Funeral home in Grants Pass Thursday. Interment was in Missouri Flat cemetery. Mrs. Head, who was a life time resident of southern Ore gon, died Monday at the home of her mother, Mrs. Rudy Hel ler, in Evans Valley. Survivors include her hus band, William, her mother and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Kay Head, Grants Pass, and Mrs. Kenneth Knox, Fair banks, Alaska. SADIE NICKELL DAVIS Ashland-Mrs. Sadie Nickell Davis, 30, died in Milan, 111., Feb. 22. Illinois police are seeking cause of death. She was born May 16, 1929, in Garner, Ark. Survivors include her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Cri sel, Glenallen, Ala.; children, Mary Jane Nickell, Enna Eliz abeth Nickell, Wilma Marlene Nickell and Shirley Darlene Nickell, all of Colestine, Ore. She is the daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Forbes, Colestine. Five brothers and two sisters in eastern United States also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 29, at Mis souri Flats cemetery on the Upper Applegate at 11 a.m. under the direction of Litwil ler's Funeral home. The Rev. E. E. Crawford of the Ash land Church of the Nazarene will officiate. PETER GERTSON Ashland-Peter Gertson, 60, of 286 Vista st, died Feb. 25 in San Francisco. He was born Aug. 20, 1899, in Mani toba, Canada. Mr. Gertson operated a lumber mill in the Ashland vicinity for a number of years and moved to Ashland from Klamath Falls 14 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Gertson, Ashland; one daughter, Barbara, Port land; brothers Ben Gerstson, Ashland; John Gertson, Arm strong, B.C., and Henry Gert son Michigan; sisters, Mrs. Mary DeFehr, Mrs. Katherine Eoews, both Armstrong, B.C.; Mrs. Sadie Whitman, Sas katchewan; and Mrs. Lena Leaver, Didsburg, Alberta. Funeral arrangements will be announced by. Litwiller's Funeral home. ELMER SEMISCH Funeral services for Elmer Semisch, 54, of 1051 West 13th st., who died Wednesday, will be held at Chapel in the Trees in Siskiyou Memorial park Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Elvin S. Tollefson of Ascension Lutheran church of Medford will officiate. Pri vate committal services will follow at Siskiyou cemetery. Inurnment will be in the Co lumbarium of the Mausoleum. Mr. Semisch was born in Philadelphia, Pa., March 5, 1905. On May 31, 1958, in Reno, Nev., he was married to Margaret Harper, who sur vives. He had lived in Med ford for the past nine years, and at the time of his death was associated with the Re liable Cleaners. Mr. Semisch was a 32nd degree Mason, with his membership in south ern California. Other survivors include one son, Theodore Semisch, Phila delphia, Pa.; and one brother, Charles Semisch, St. Peters burg, Fla. Pallbearers will be Marvin Lemieux, Tex Phillips, Ira Culver, Harry Marshall, George Field and Hugh Lap pin. Honorary bearers will be Larry Neely, Jay Goodman, Attention Eagles! BISHOP Ashland - Clayton Franklin Bishop, 57, of 75 Coolidge St., Ashland, died Feb. 25 in a Medford hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1902, in Wol cott, Ind. He was a member of Ash land Elks lodge. He married Leeda Spence in 1922 and has been a valley resident since 1907. He was custodian at Washington and Talent schools for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leeda Bishop, Ashland; children, Jack Bishop, Waco, Texas, and Gene Bishop, Sac ramento, Calif.; three grand children, and two brothers, Rex Bishop, Stockton, Calif., and Buster Bishop, Berkeley, Calif. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at Litwiller's Mountain View chapel. The Rev. Herschel Hall of First Methodist church and the Elks lodge are in charge. Entombment will be in Rest Haven mausoleum. LAURA E. She crossed the plains with her family at an early age and had lived most all of her life in Oregon. She was a member for many years of the Seventh Day Adventist church. Survivors include a son, Jack Kells, Hillsboro; a sis ter, Mrs. Jennie Walker, Jack sonville; a brother, Frank J. Taylor, Gladstone, Ore.; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
