Dean Twists Ankle In Tornadoes1 Drill Availability of big center Lowell Dean for Medford's basketball encounter Satur day night with Klamath Un ion high was uncertain this morning. Dean, who had recuperated from a bout with flu which hampered him last week end, turned his ankle in practice yesterday. He was sent to a doctor for a checkup. Medford opposes Klamath at Klamath Falls in the last of four Southern Oregon confer ence games between the schools this season. The fray is billed as one of the top ones of the week end in the state. For the Black Tornado is rated No. 1 and No. 2 in Oregon and the KF Pelicans have No. 3 and No. 5 rankings in the polls. The Tornado will provide one of two tough assignments for Klamath this week end. Klamath goes to Grants Pass this evening while Medford draws a bye. Crucial Frays The Pels consider, both games crucial. They can cinch a state tourney spot by beat ing Grants Pass, putting them selves five games apart with four in the league to go. A win over Medford would bol ster Pel hopes of overtaking the Tornado in the campaign for the conference title. Klam ath has held the mantle for three straight years. The KF fracas is mighty im portant to the Tornado, too. Medford can sew up the cir cuit bunting with a win over the Pelicans. Otherwise, the Medfords would have to win two of their three remaining games.
