E. Ford, 904 West 10th st., was presented the Life Scout rank at a Court of Honor Tuesday at St. Mary's school. Mrs. Ford received a minia ture of the Life Scout badge which she pinned on her son in the presence of Scout Troop 1 members, their families and teachers. Scoutmaster Charles Hack- ett presided at the ceremonies, He was assisted by George W. Davy, institutional repre sentative, and scout commit tee member E. E. Ford, Rob ert Wright and John Carnegie, Michael Ford gave an ex planation of some of the ac tivities involved in earning the merit badges required for Life Scout rank. He has been a member of Cub Pack 1 and Scout Troop 1 throughout his scouting experiences. He is now a Webelos den chief. He is an eighth grader at St. Mary's school and is now completing the requirements for the Roman Catholic church's Ad Altare Dei award for service to the church and knowledge of the faith. Badges Presented The Court of Honor cere monies included the presenta tion of badges of several oth er ranks. Larry Wright, Dennis O'Hara and Larry Pickell were made Star Scouts. First class rank went to Patrick Herrick, Dennis O'Hara, Andy Adams, Paul Adams, Randy Corliss, John Miller and Valton Albert. Receiving second class rank were Thomas Clark, Richard Baker, Patrick Thompson and Danny Seitz. Michael Holtzinger, Urban Moore, Stephen Whinihan and Gary Roberts received their tenderfoot badges and scout neckerchiefs. Several merit badges were awarded to John Carnegie, Dennis O'Hara, Michael Ford and Larry Wright Scoutmaster Hackett dis played the certificate received by the troop for winning a Class A prize in the Scout Week window display contest. The Court of Honor was fol lowed by a social hour during which refreshments were served by Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Charles Hackett. Dr. Barnhouse to Conduct School A five -dav Bible Study Mission will be held in Med- ford starting Sunday by Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse, Fhu- idelphia, teacher of the Bible Study Hour, heard weekly over radio station KMED. Dr. Barnhouse will conduct the mission at the First Pres byterian church, Eighth and Holly sts. The sessions wm De held Monday, Feb. 22, through Thursday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday Dr. Barnhouse will speak at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship serv ices at the church and at 7:30 p.m. He may be heard over KMED from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Sunday as the local wor ship service will be broadcast immediately following t n e National Broadcasting Com pany study hour program. Dr. Barnhouse has served as pastor of the Tenth United Presbyterian church, Phila delphia, for 32 years, is editor of Eternity Magazme, and considered an authority on world missions and the poli tics of France, Africa and the East, and is author of more than a dozen books. All interested persons are invited to attend the Bible sessions here. Any Bible ques tions submitted in writing in advance will be answered by Dr. Barnhouse during his stay in the valley. The 10 a.m. sessions will be on the theme of "living truths from the gospel of John." "vzlva Damage Suit Filed In Circuit Court Virgil Ray Buttram, 3655 South Pacific highway, is seeking $1,750 general dam ages, $54 special damages from Connie Lou Gardner and Cecil Gardner, 1730 Camp Baker rd., as a result of a traffic accident, accord ing to a complaint filed in cir cuit court. Buttram was stopped in the inside southbound lane at 3653 South Pacific highway and was signalling for a left turn July 31, 1959, when his car was struck by one driven by Connie Lou Gardner and owned by her father, Cecil Gardner, according to the complaint. Buttram suffered severe and permanent injuries as a result of the accident, accord ing to the complaint. Doctor and medical bills total $54. Formula foi Public Highway Monies Outlined Washington (UPD The na tion's governors told senators Wednesday how they could pump $900 million into the interstate highway program. The initial reaction to the pro posal was friendly. Gov. Abraham A. Rlbicoff of Connecticut outlined a new formula at an informal joint meeting of the Senator's Pub lic Works and Finance com mittees. Sen. Pat McNamara (D-Mich.L chairman of th public roads subcommittee. presided at the closed session. Ribicoff later withheld a public explanation of the gov ernor's plan pending another meeting with the House Ways and Means Committee. How ever, Sen. Albert Gore (D Tenn.) told newsmen there was "a meeting of the minds between senators and gover nors on what should be done on the interstate system." The question, said Gore, is whether the administration can be persuaded to spend the necessary funds.
