B Sunday, Feb. 14, 1960 Miss Patricia Higinbotham Becomes Bride of Boyd Jones Central Point-Miss Patricia Higinbotham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boling, 359 North Eighth street, became the bride of Boyd Jones, son of Mrs. Wesley Boyer, Mon tague, Calif., and Estil Jones, Elk Creek-Trail, in a cere mony held . February 1 at Medford Friends church. Clynton Crisman, pastor of the church, officiated at the eight o'clock evening rites at tended by 75 relatives and friends. The bride wore a gown of white Chantilly lace over taf feta fashioned with fitted bo dice and Sabrina neckline. The tiered bouffant skirt was of pleated tulle and lace and her fingertip veil was held by a circle of lace and tulle trimmed with seed pearls and sequins. She carried a heart ' shaped bouquet of white car nations encircling a white or chid. James Higinbotham gave his sister in marriage. Mrs. James Higinbotham attended her sister-in-law. She wore a red taffeta frock in ballerina length with white accessories and red and white tulle headdress trimmed with red carnations. She carried a heart shaped bouquet of white tulle and red carnations. Five-year-old cousins of the bride, Kathryn Ann Bresland and Richard Walch, were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. Little Kathryn wore a red and white frock with matching headband trim med with red carnations and she carried a nosegay of red carnations. Candlelighters were Ronald Walch, cousin of the bride, and Wayne Wright. Jerry Laizure, Medford, served as best man. Seating the guests were James Bres land, uncle of the bride, and Harold Rominger, step grand father of the bride. Mrs. Crisman played the organ music and soloist was Larry Smith. Baskets of white stock decorated the altar for the wedding and candles in candelabra lighted the church for the double ring ceremony. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Boling wore a beige knit suit with brown accessories. -The Fashionette- I - ..: . I '' I" Is. v Hi Mrs. Boyer chose a gray suit with black accessories. Their corsages were white carna tions. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Boling home. Red carnations and white stock decorated the rooms. Mrs. John Simpson, Ashland, and Mrs. Guy Hav- ice cut and served the wed ding cake baked by Mrs. Lee Collinsworth and Miss Jocky Cameron and Miss Linda Warren presided at the punch bowls. Miss Judy Peacock, .Medford, poured the coffee and Miss Lois Gage, Talent, was in charge of the guest book; Mrs. Bert Langston was in charge of the reception. Passing the bridegroom's cake was Elaine Wright, cous in of the bride, and Mrs. Jerry Laizure, Medford, was at the gift table. On . their wedding trip the couple traveled to points in southern Oregon and northern California visiting relatives. For traveling the bride wore a blue knit suit. They are making their home at the Shirleen Trailer court, Med ford. The bride Is a graduate of Crater High school and is a teller with the Jackson Coun ty Federal Savings and Loan association. Mr. Jones, who attended Buckingham, Va., schools, had been making his home in the Elk Creek-Trail area. He was formerly em ployed by Payless Drug store. Among the out of town guests attending the wedding and reception were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Boyer, stepfath er and mother of the bride groom, and Eston Jones, all Montague, Calif., brother of the bridegroom. Lady Elks Set Salad Luncheon Medford Lady Elks will meet Tuesday, February 16, in the Elks club party room. A salad luncheon will be served at 1 p.m. and cards will be played during the re mainder of the afternoon. Mrs. Emil Unger, Mrs. Louie J. Ruhl and Mrs. Budd W. Gail, winners at cards at the last meeting of the group, will serve on the refreshment committee for Tuesday's party.' ; .- ' Wives and widows of all Elk: members are invited to attend the Lady Elk meetings. Luncheon, Cards Planned by Court ' Plans have been, made by Roxy. Ann Court, Order of the Amaranth, for a luncheon and card party for its mem bers and friends to be held at the home of Mrs. R. M. John son, 21 North Berkley Way, Friday, February 19, at 12 noon. Reservations are to be made with Mrs. Frank Salyers, SPring 2-8001. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Jones (Taylor Photo) Sorority Chapter Announces Annual Luncheon and Show Fashion shows are always important events on the spring calendar and one held annual Jy in Medford is sponsored by Alpha Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. The chapter has an nounced that the sixth annual benefit event, a combined luncheon, fashion show and card party, will be held Monday, February 22, at Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Richard R. Riggs is general chairman of the event. Her committee members are Mrs. James Tengesdal, mod els; Mrs. Don Bills, decora tions; Mrs. Jack Bailey, pub licity. The luncheon will be serv- Art Show Announced An art show of works by Mrs. Victoria Staley and her son, Don, Route 1,' Box 436, Eagle Point, is scheduled for the Girls Community club Saturday, March 5. Mrs. Staley, a member of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists, is well known in the valley for her paintings. Her son returned home re cently after serving in the armed forces. The show is to open at 10 o'clock in the morning and will continue until 7 pjn. One hundred pictures, includ ing, water colors, oils, pencil. pen. and ink, and pastels will be shown. Mrs." Staley s will all be- oils. Several pieces of sculpture also are planned. Mrs. Blanche Powell Returns to Medford Mrs. Blanche Powell, 545 South Ivy street, returned this week following a one month vacation in California visiting relatives. Woman Honored At Recent Shower Eagle Point Mrs. Robert Burns was honored with a shower at the home - of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cearley, 30 West Third street, Eagle Point, recently. Mrs. Burns is the former Juanita Cearley. and was : graduated from Eagle Point High school in 1956. Her husband is a spe cialist fourth class in the U. S. Army. Mr. Burns, son of Mrs Pearl Burns, Garfield street, Medford, has been stationed in Spokane. He expects to be transferred to Ft. Priestley of Montgomery, Ala:, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Miss Lena Frances Priestley, to Stanley Palmer Culy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gale Culy, 21 Washington street,' Medford. March Wedding Planned by Pair The engagement and ap proaching marriage of Miss Jean Annette McGuire . to Bernard L. Johnson has been announced. Miss McGuire is a daughter of Mrs. W. H. Mc Guire, 909 West Fourth street, and the late Mr. Mc Guire. Mr. Johnson is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis M. Johnson, St. Paul, Minn. The couple is to be married March 5 at Zion Lutheran church. The bride-to-be is a grad uate of Medford high school and is employed at the Safe way district office in Med ford. Her fiance, a graduate of Alexander Ramsey High school, St. Paul, has a deco rating business in St. Paul. s Style Show Announced By League Medford Junior Service league's annual spring style show will be held this year on Friday afternoon, March 4, and Saturday evening, March 5, at the Rogue Valley Coun try club. League members are com pleting plans for the show, and reservations now may he made by calling Mrs. Gilbert Tumy. SPring 2-7400, or Mrs. James B. Shaw. SPring 2- 9393. Luncheon will be served Friday, and dinner will be served before the Saturday evening show. Although announcements are being mailed only to members. of the Rogue Valley Country club, the public is invited to attend this annual social affair. The two women are life-long friends. Two teams of Footlighter members will be selling tick ets from now until the last day of the play. It opens Tues day, March 8 and will contin ue through Saturday, March 12. The team that sells the most tickets will be treated to a steak dinner by the los ing team, which will eat beans. As an added spice for the contest, no husband and wife are to be allowed on the same team. Thayer Tarvin Is directing the production. Mr. Palmer gave his daugh ter in marriage. She wore a gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin, which was designed with finger-tip length sleeves and a veil of finger-tip length. She carried a white orchid bouquet. Miss Frances Palmer, who served as maid of honor for her sister, wore a turquoise blue gown of crepe. It had three-quarter length sleeves, a cowl neckline and a ga thered full skirt. Miss Gayle Weller was a bridesmaid. Her gown of blush pink was of the same design as the maid of honor's. Both carried white carnation bouquets. Dean Wilson, uncle of the bridegroom, was best man Melvin Acuff, brother of the bridegroom, was the usher and Gene Allen, brother-in-law of the bride, served as groomsman. Large baskets of white chrysanthemums and ' pink carnations provided a setting for the ceremony. The bride's parents were hosts for a reception which followed the service. Decora tions were of pink and white. The bride attended Ashland High 'school, and the bride groom attended Talent High school. He is employed by Li thia Lumber company. The newly-weds are making their home at 433 South Mountain avenue following their return from a wedding trip.
