Putnam has been made by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Murray, 3724 Crater Lake highway. Mr. Putnam is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Putnam, Myrtle Point. Miss Murray is a graduate of Southern Oregon college and is teaching second grade at Washington school in the Medford public school system. Mr. Putnam is a graduate of Southern Oregon college and is a teacher of the seventh grade at Central Point Junior High school. A June wedding is planned. Dorothy Huskey Visitor in City Miss Dorothy Huskey, for merly health educator for Jackson County Public Health department, is in Med ford as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Minear, Stage Road south. Since leaving Medford three years ago Miss Huskey has been employed as a health educator, in Madras, India, by a group of inter national agencies. Miss 'Hus key made the trip from Mad ras by air with stops in New Delhi, Bombay, Cairo, Paris, New York and Portland; she will leave Tuesday for the return trip going by way of Sacramento and Los Angeles, Honolulu, Tokyo and Hong Kong, with brief stops in each city. Mrs. Lloyd Smith, 3232 Jacksonville highway, will be hostess for the Fidelity club Wednesday, January 27, at 1 p.m. A dessert luncheon will be served. 2 DAYS ONLY... Miss Betty Jon Hall (Haugen pholo) Thetas to Mark 90th Anniversary Members of Kappa Alpha Theta will gather Thursday, January 28, to celebrate the 90th birthday anniversary of the social fraternity. The organization was found ed at Indiana Asbury college, now DePauw university, Greencastle, Ind. Local members will meet for luncheon at the Rogue Valley Country club at 12:30 o'clock and are asked to bring their "birthday pennies" which will be contributed to the Institute of Logopedics. Ol son, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, have announced the engage ment of their daughter, Miss Jeannine A. Olson, to Norman L. Hooper. Mr. Hooper is a son of Mrs. John Esp, 889 Olym pic street, Medford, and V. Ray Hooper, also Med ford. Miss Olson attended Bon ners Ferry High school and is now enrolled as a sophomore medical technician student at Oregon Technical institute. Mr. Olson was graduated from Eagle Point High school and is now a third-year student of structural engineering at OTI. The couple plans an early fall wedding. Mr. Hooper recently was a guest in the Olson home and during his stay in Bonners Ferry the engagement news was made known. Officers of Guild To Be Hostesses Newlv elected officers of St. Catherine's Guild of St. Mark's Episcopal church will be hostesses for a guild meet ing in the parish house Mon day, January 25, at 8 p.m. A film strip that the guild purchased for the church school will be shown. Mem bers will sew articles for the school following the showing. Hostesses will include Mrs. Frank Hunt, president; Mrs. Robert Wilcox, vice-president; Mrs. Ann Wirkkula, secretary; and Mrs. W. V. Deatherage, treasurer. Miss Relling is a senior at Medford High school and is employed by Russ Jamison Public Relations Service. Mr. Klocke is a graduate of Crater High school and is employed by Cascade Wood Products Inc. Albright, 1022 West Fourth street, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Patsy Laferne, to Loren M. Glenn, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Glenn, 315 North Second st., Central Point. Miss Albright is a senior at Medford High school. Her fiance is employed at the B and P Car Wash. Their wedding has been set for early summer. Miss Robinson Named Princess Miss Carol Robinson, sopho more from Medford, has been chosen Winter Carnival prin cess by fellow students at Marylhurst college. The car nival, an intercollegiate event sponsored by Portland State college, will be held at Tim berline on Mt. Hood, Febru ary 26 to 28. Miss Robinson, a blonde, is well known in musical circles as a piano soloist and singer. She plans to become a medi cal technologist and is a mem ber of the science honor so ciety. In the carnival election she was the candidate of the Marylhurst ski club, Kriski, to which she belongs. A graduate of St. Mary's high school, Miss Robinson is the daughter of Mrs. Mildred Robinson, 236 South Oakdale avenue. She will appear in her new role on February 12, when she and princesses from other colleges will be present ed on television. Her ski cos tume will be the gift of the Marylhurst student body. Founders' Day To Be Observed Chapter AA.PEO Sister hood, will have a special founder's day program, at a meeting -Wednesday, January 27, at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. D. B. Whalin, 300 Windsor avenue. Mrs. M. D. Jones and Mrs. W. E. Edwards will-be assist ing hostesses. Ultrasonic Cleaning Miss Melba Snow Couple to Wed In Summer Rites Central Point-Mr. and Mrs. Elton Snow, Lakeview, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Melba, to Richard Callender, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Callender, 545 Oak street. Miss Snow is a graduate of Southern Oregon college and is a teacher in the elemen tary school system in Salem. Mr. Callender is a senior at Southern Oregon college and will receive his degree in sec ondary education in June. A summer wedding' is planned. Nutter-Dutton Ceremony Held Miss Mary Louise Dutton became the bride of Norman Jay Nutter in a ceremony held January 16 in Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. John Ilg officiated at the 2:30 o'clock afternoon rites. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Lillian Dutton, 411 Woodstock street, and Gay Dutton, route 2, box 13, Jack sonville. Mr. Nutter'js parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Glea son 1846 Taylor road, Central Point. Mrs. June Lindgren attend ed the bride and serving as best man was Paul M. Dutton, brother of the bride. Following the ceremony a reception was held for rela tives and guests at the Dutton home on Woodstock street. ' The bride attended Medford High school. Mr. Nutter at tended Crater High school and is employed by Sacred Heart hospital. They are making their home at 233 Vi Beatty street here. '" Valentine Ball Important Event The annual Valentine Ball, outstanding social event of the year for Beta Sigma Phi sorority, will be held Satur day, February 13 in the star light room of the Rogue Val ley Country club. Highlight of the evening will be the crowning of the valentine queen, chosen from among the five valentine princesses, with each princess selected by her sorority sisters to rep resent their chapter. Glittering hearts and cu pids in the traditional red and white theme of St. Valentines day will decorate the ball room. Music will be furnished by a four-piece orchestra, "The Taylor Combo," under the direction of Roy Taylor. The formal dance is planned and coordinated each year through the Beta Sigma Phi City council with each chap ter taking an active part in the arrangements. Reservations must be in by February 8 and may be made by calling Mrs. Floyd Carr, SPring 2-7249 or Mrs. Joe Sayre, SPring 3-2500. . Thursday Club Slates Session Phoenix-The monthly meet ing of Phoenix Thursday club will be held Thursday, eve ning, Jan. 28 at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. M. J. Po- pow, 3744 Calhoun road. Assisting the hostess will be Mrs. Fred Hallgren, Mrs. Robert Furry and Mrs. Mar- jorie Lawrence. A discussion of revision and re-writing of the club constitution will be led by Mrs. Raymond Furry, committee chairman.
