MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford, Or. r Mrs. Lionel Eugene Rentschler Newlywed Pair Honored At Wedding Trail-Mr. and Mrs. Lynn 'Michael Wilde were honored January 2 at a reception in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recrea tion hall in Homedale, Idaho, The couple were married De cember 30 in an eleven o'clock morning ceremony at the tenr pie of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Idaho Palls. The bride is the former Miss Annie Lou Leslie, Down ey, Calif., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Leslie, Home dale. Mr. Wilde's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Millard Wilde, Trail. For the double ring cere mony the bride wore a white with pleated back interest. Her veil was held by a white satin crown trimmed with seed pearls and orange blos soms and she carried a cas cade bouquet of red rosebuds and white carnations. Miss Brenda Leslie attend ed her sister. She wore an ice blue brocaded satin frock and carried a nosegay bouquet of carnations and red roses. C. L. Guy Leslie and James Leslie seated the guests. Mrs. Leslie wore a teal blue dress with red carnation cor sage and Mrs. Wilde chose a royal blue dress with white carnation corsage. A red and white theme in poinsettias, white carnations and red roses was used for the reception. Serving ' were Mrs. Jewel Leslie, Mrs. La- Rue Leslie, Mrs. Melva Leav- itt, Mrs. Madora Davenport and Mrs. Mary Leavitt, all aunts of the bride. Miss Mary Ann Wing, cousin of the bride, was in charge of the guest book and Miss Diane Leslie and Miss Judy Packer, were at the gift table. The couple traveled to Ida ho and northern California on their wedding trip the bride wearing for traveling an olive green knit suit. They will make their home in Long Beach, Calif., for the next five months where the bridegroom is stationed with the U.S. Navy. They later plan to move to San Diego. Erin Merkel, formerly of Medford and now of Chula Vista, became the bride of Lionel Eugene Rentschler, Gardena, Calif. Mr. Rentsch ler's mother is Mrs. Patricia Rentschler, Gardena, Calif. Elder Merrill Enright of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Gardena officiated at the five o'clock afternoon rites held at the Chapel of Roses. Miss Del Delker was solo ist. White chrysanthemums and white satin ribbons and bows trimmed the spiral stair way which the bride and her attendants descended. The chapel was decorated with large bouquets of white chrys anthemums and gladioli and lighted tapers. Chancel torches lighted the chapel and during the ceremony the Benediction of Lights was fo cused on the kneeling couple, r The bride wore a floor length gown of white silk peau de soie with Chantilly lace bodice. The bouffant skirt formed a chapel train and a bustle bow accented the back of the waist peplum. Pearls and iridescent sequins trimmed the gown and half crown which held her triple fingertip length veil of French silk illusion. The bride carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and lily of the valley encircling a white orchid. Give Daughter Dr. and Mrs. Merkel gave their daughter in marriage. Mrs. Clifford Fischer, Loma Linda, Calif., college room mate of the bride, was matron of honor. Other attendants were Mrs. Gerald Hannah, Los Angeles, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Beverly Sammon, San Leandro, Calif., roommate of the bride during her nurse's training. They wore coral silk peau de soie frocks in waltz length and carried colonial bouquets of white chrysanthemums. Their headdresses were of coral vel vet with short veils. Gerald Ghelfi. Phoenix. Ariz., served as best man and seating the guests were Wal- West Sacramento. Calif., and is employed by Rancho Los Amigos hospital,. Downey, elementary and Prospect High Mr. Wilde attended Elk Trail schools. For her daughter's wedding and the reception which fol lowed at the Chapel of Roses reception hall Mrs. Merkel chose a Delft blue silk crepe and lace dress with matching accessories and pink carna tion corsage. Mrs. Rentschler wore a champagne colored silk brocade sheath dress with matching accessories and a burnt orange carnation cor sage. Decorations Whil White chrysanthemums and white and coral gladioli deco rated the reception hall for the reception, attended by 150 relatives and guests. Mrs. Tom Gibson, . Loma Linda; Miss Delker, and Miss Beth Davidson, both Glendale, Calif., assisted with the serv ing. Miss Jewelle Thompson, Medford, was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Philip Lockaby, Loma Linda, was at the gift table. John Walters, head -of the violin department at La Sier ra college, played a violin se lection while the newlywed couple sat in the wishing chair. The couple traveled to Bor rego Springs, Calif., on their wedding trip and are making their home at 24612 Stewart street, Loma Linda. For her traveling attire the bride chose a charcoal and white suit with black and white ac cessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet. The bride attended Med ford schools, Newbury Park academy, Calif., La Sierra college, and is a graduate of Glendale Sanitarium and Hos pital School of Nursing. Mr. Rentschler attended Lynwood academy and is a graduate of La Sierra college. He is a freshman in the College of Medical Evangelists Dental School, Loma Linda. ,Among the out of town guests attending the wedding and reception were Elder and Mrs. O. E. Schnepper, Placer ville, Calif., and Dr. and Mrs. 1. 1 M. Steele, Apple Valley, Calif. Party Honors Mary Pay Lucy; Rites Monday Miss Noreen Kelly, who will be the attendant for Miss Mary Pat Lucy at her wed ding tomorrow at Sacred Heart church, honored the pride-elect at a party and linen shower Friday evening. A group of 12 friends at tended the event given by Miss Kelly and Ben Trow bridge Jr., at 1509 East Main street. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Car ter, Oceanside, Calif. Mrs. Carter is Miss Lucy's mother. Miss Lucy is the bride-elect of Ralph Holzapfel, Shedd, Ore. She has been Jackson county extension agent for home economics and has been making her home at 128 South Columbus avenue. Following the four o'clock rites Monday a reception will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Valton Finley, 1327 Reddy avenue. Couple Leaves After Stay Here Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Car penter have returned to their home at Waitsfield, Vt., after a stay in the valley with Mr. Carpenter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. V. Carpenter, Topsides, Old Stage road. Mr. Carpenter, an architect and builder, helped to design an unusual gondola-type ski lift which is now in operation at a resort near Waitsfield, and both he and his wife are ski enthusiasts. Both are also ar tists and volunteer time each week to teach art classes in Waitsfield. Luncheon, Cards Planned by Court Women of Roxy Ann court, Order of the Amaranth, have planned a luncheon and card party for Friday, January 15, at the home of Mrs. Vernon A. Turpin, Old Military road. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. The event 'is for members of the court and their friends. Reservations for the party may be made by calling Mrs. Frank Salyers, SPring 2-8001. The Turpin address is Route 2, Box 424. The monthly meeting of the court will be held Thursday, January 21. , Card Parry Members of the Getogether club will have a card party Friday, January 15 at Girls Community club. ' ' i: Mr. and Mrs. Newly weds Make Home In Brookings Central Point-Mr. and Mrs. David Gates are making their home in Brookings following their wedding November 27 in the First' Baptist church at Crescent City, Calif. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Golden, 119 Wilson road, and the bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gates, Brookings. The Rev. Kenneth Hollin sead officiated at the evening ceremony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white lace over taffeta with a veil made by Mrs. Earl Moore, Gold Hill. She carried a white Bible covered with pink car nations. .Miss Sylvia Gates, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a light blue dress of organza over taffeta. Phyllis and Sherry Cassey, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. They wore pink nylon dresses and carried bas kets of pink carnations. Jerry Golden, , brother of the bride, was best man and Felix Rodriques and David Bushnell were ushers. At the reception which fol lowed at the church Mrs. Kent LaRue and Miss Jo Ann LaRue served the cake. Miss Reba Taylor poured. Miss Linda LaRue took charge of the guest book and Mrs. Pearl Burns assisted with the gifts. The newly-weds took a brief wedding trip following their wedding, the bride wearing for traveling a black wool sheath dress with a white fur hat. Hess, and small son, Stev en. v The young couple returned recently from Columbia, Mo., where Dr. Hess was released from active service with the United States Army. The young man, a veterinarian, was graduated from Washing ton State college and is prac ticing in Los Altos. He spent two years in the service. ' Mother and Son Home From Trip Mrs. Sam Gilbert, and son, Brandt, 2510 Lyman avenue, returned recently after spend ing the holiday season with Mr. and Mrs. Craig Gilbert, Homestead Air Force Base, Fla. The Florida couple are Mrs. Gilbert's son and daughter-in-law. While there Mrs. Gilbert met her daughter-in-law for the first time and saw her grandson, Jeffrey, who was born September 21 at Home stead where Craig is stationed with the Air Force The Medford woman and her son flew from .the west coast, to Miami, Fla., Decem ber 16 and returned to Los Angeles December 29, where they visited Sam Gilbert's brother, Sidney. Prior to re turning to Medford January 2 they visited Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm. . Election of officers, for the next year will also take place at the meeting, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in the Board and Staff room at the hospital. - Two women will be given pins denoting 1,000 or more hours of volunteer service, Mrs. Bessonette states. Hours of service may be accumulat ed over a period of more Allan one year, she adds, and m some cases the women earning pins have been faith ful workers since the auxil iary was organized five years ago.
