Car Crash Study Slated in State Salem - (LTD - Beginning Dec. 1, a special study will be conducted to determine the nature and causes of injuries incurred in late-model car ac cidents in 12 Oregon counties. State police, the State Medi cal Society, Oregon Board of Health, hospitals and the auto motive crash injury research program of Cornell university will carry out the study. Counties involved are Des chutes, Crook, Jefferson, Was co, Hood River, Josephine, Coos, Douglas, Lane, Yamhill, Tillamook and Clatsop. . The research will cover only accidents in rural areas. Data produced in earlier studies, ac cording to the Oregon Traffic Safety commission, have indi cated the degree of protection offered by such safety ' fea tures as improved door locks, energy - absorbing steering wheels, seat belts and padded dashboards. - NOTED ARTIST DIES Bethlehem, Pa. -UPD- Percy P. The report said the fire was caus ed by a dirty flue. Gas Stolen-Eighty gallons of gas was taken from a truck at Hilton Lumber company recently and 10 gallons of gas from the end lift at the com pany Thursday, Raymond R. Koch, Central Point, reported to sheriffs deputies Friday. Hubcaps Stolen Four hub caps were reported stolen from a new car while it was parked on the lot of the Dar rell Miller company, 415 South Riverside ave., within the past two days, city police said. Theft-Donald Elwood Bur elson, 2201 Skyview dr., told city police that a fender skirt and hubcap, total value about $40, were stolen from his car while it was parked behind the Big Y Signal Service sta tion Wednesday evening. . Son Born News has been received here of the birth of a son Nov. 20 to SSgt. and Mrs. Bradley Gordon Wood of Winter Park, Fla. Mrs. Wood is the former Donna Mae Rohlfing, Portland, and Sgt. Wood is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood, route 1, box 206, Talent. Flue Fire - A fire which started in a flue of a stove pipe at the home of Terry F. McGriff, 314 Willamette ave., Medford, spread to the attic wall Friday, Medford firemen said. Damage to the wall and attic was reported. A stove pipe was too close to the wall, firemen explained. Stolen Tool Box -William Raymond Gregory told city police a tool box containing numerous tools was stolen from his garage at 503 Oak st. within the past two days. - Misses Gas-Tex Nash? 2075 Highway; 99, south, Medford, reported the theft Thursday of 70 to 80 gallons of . gas from a .granite pit a mile north of Jacksonville, sher iffs deputies, said Friday. Tires - Medford firemen were called Thursday at 1:57 pjn. to a flue fire at the James C. Fisher residence, 602 West 11th st. and at 10:57 p.m. to the McCabe Ware house, 14 . West Fourth st., where the alarm bell was ring ing. No fire was discovered at the warehouse, firemen said. Officials checked out the electrical system at the building later and found nothing amiss. . " Son Born -A son was born to Mr. and Mrs! Joe Francis, Corvallis, Friday, Nov. 27. The child, weighing 7 pounds and 2 ounces, has been named Anthony. Mr. and Ms. Fran cis have an older son, Mark, aged 19 months. Mrs. Francis is the former Dixie Neatha mer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs: Norman D. Neathamer, 119 Jeanette st. Francis, who plays football with the Green Bay Packers, flew from De troit following the Thanks giving game with the Detroit Lions, arriving in Corvallis only a short time before the birth of his second son. Mrs. Neathamer plans to go to Cor vallis the first of the week to spend several days with her son-in-law and daughter.. Millard will officiate. Committal will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. Mrs. Pearson was born March 20, 1881, in Pike coun ty, Illinois, and had lived in southern Oregon for the past 13 years. ROBERT J- KETTLES Private funeral services for Robert James Kettles, 78, of 819 South Peach st., whoudied at his residence Thursday, will be held at Perl Funeral home Monday at 1:30 p.m. Capt. William Ricken, of the Salva tion Army will officiate. In terment will be in the Memo ry Gardens Memorial park. Mr. Kettles was born in Ot tawa, Canada, March 18, 1881, and had been a resident of this area and of the state for three years. He was an electrician.
