Madford had all aight first placa votes in class A-l whila Jaff arson ra mained in sacond placa. Pendleton, which like tha first two has won seven straight, was third with Marshfield 6-1 fourth and Lincoln 70 fifth. Vala had 77 out of a pos sible 80 points. It has a 7-0 record as do Willamina, Seaside and B Adon who are second, third and fourth respectively. Other A-2 teams in order are Coquille, Mac-Hi Woodburn. Eagle Point, Myrtle Point and Es tacada. (UPD The Detroit Lions may be in hot water with the rest of the Na tional Football league because Coach George Wlison "plain forgot" to pay his players a customary gift of $100 apiece before last Sunday's game with the Los Angeles Rams. ? As a result of Wilson's f'mental lapse," Detroit, may have to answer charges that they held the money back as aa incentive to beat the Rams. Incentive payments are against NFL rules and acting commissioner Austin Gunsel s reportedly investigating the matter. - Wilson explained from the Lions' training camp here that the Detroit club officials cus tomarily give each player $100 when they make the trip to the coast. ; He said he was given the money in Detroit before the club left for Los Angeles last week and was directed to give the money to. the players when the team arrived on the ' West Coast. 1 "When you're not winning, . you don't think of every thing," Wilson said, "I. just plain forgot about it Wilson said he gave the money to the players Monday following their 17-7 victory over the Rani. Wash.-dJPD - The Wasniuton State Cougars opened this week's practice with a two-hour, scrimmage Monday, concentrating on. de veloping a respectable passing attack. - Coach Jim Sutherland said his club would have to throw the ball to beat Oregon State this Saturday, adding that he had been disappointed with Cougars' ability to move the ball through the air in prev ious games this year. - TACKLE CHANGE Moscow, Idaho-flJPD Coach Skip .Stahley of - the Idaho Vandals said today that Tom Dinuovo will open at left tackle against Oregon this weekend, with Ron Ismal tak ing over Dinuovo's regular right tackle spot. Team cap tain and first string left tackle Jim Prestel will be out for the rest of the season, Stahley said. Prestel broke his foot against Washington State Saturday. Charge Possible The Detroit News carried a story last week saying that Wilson was holding back the customary gift unless the Li ons beat the Rams. Agencies Probe Leaflet Drops Washington - (UPD - At least seven U.S. agencies today in vestigated recent leaflet raids on Havana, Cuba, allegedly from airfields in this country, to determine if any federal laws were violated. At the same time, the five nation Inter-American Peace Committee launched an in quiry at U-S. request to find out whether the flights were conducted by Cuban refugees from bases in Florida. The investigations w elr e made urgent by Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro's mount ing anger at the United States. He told a cheering protest rally Monday night that U.S. authorities either were "accomplices or murder ers" or else defenseless to stop rebel flights against Cuba. The flights, which ; Castro said dropped bombs as well as anti-Castro leaflets, are be ing investigated by the State and Justice departments,' the FBI, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, and the Federal Aviation Agency. Customs Bureau and bor der patrol agents in Florida were under orders to halt the flights. But it was not clear imme diately what action the United States could take. A spokes man said the Justice Depart ment did not have enough facts to determine whether any federal law had been vio lated. : .; LA Council Nixes Ball Park Map Los Angeles CP& Even with all the taxpayer suits and stubborn residents out of the way, the Los Angeles Dodgers still find the road to Chavez ravine occupancy lit tered with obstacles. . This time it's maps. For the second time. Dodg er maps for the development of the ravine ' for a stadium site here turned down by the Los Angeles city council Mon day. City councilman Ransom M. Callicott, . chairman of the council's planning committee, rejected the three new maps submitted . and e x p 1 a i ned, "these maps I just received do not adequately answer' our questions about commercial development near the sta dium. These are not new maps." ' Last Wednesday, Callicott, who; says, "I have no quarrel with anybody," was one of the councilmen who rejected the Dodgers' map of the ra vine which showed the club's proposed 52,000 seat ballpark would be surrounded by ' a restaurant, car wash, service station, ice cream parlors and other facilities. . . -- v Rezoning Delayed The council delayed taking action on rezoning the 192 acres in the ravine for com mercial uses and another 125 acres for parking. Dodger president Walter OlMalley forwarded a letter with the most recent maps. He said, "at this time, I wish to restate our intention 'to use the purchased land for a stadium and landscaped ballpark and recreation area as per the terms of the con tract with the city plus such incidental facilities as are us ual to a stadium catering to the comfort and convenience of the public." Callicott said, however, the new maps gave no indication of where the "incidental facil ities" the commercial enter prises will be located. Any kind of incentive pay is against league rules and we know it," Wilson said. "We've been doing this for the players ever since we started coming out here to the coast. It is just the goodness of the Detroit management that they give every player $100 extra so that they can buy things for their families and friends. Sandy Awarded Split Verdict New York (UPD Middle weight Randy Sandy of Brooklyn, N.Y., scored a split 10-round decision over young Emile Griffith of New York Monday night in the feature bout at the Academy of Music. Sandy, a former national AAU middleweight champion who turned pro in 1951, gain ed the decision when both judges Joe Eppy and Joe Armstrong voted for him. . Open 9:30 Crash Victim in Critical Condition San Bernardino, Calif .(UPD A 42-year-old woman who was trapped in an upside-down position, for nearly seven hours in the wreckage of a small plane was reported in critical condition today at St. Bernadine hospital. -' Mrs. Charlotte Mildon 'of Arcadia, Calif., was rescued Monday from the craft in which her husband and . an other couple were killed -when her shouts for help finally attracted residents in the area of the crash. The small plane smashed into the ground late Sunday night a half-mile from the Hesperia, Calif., airport when it hit power lines as . it ap proached for a landing. The plane felL only 300 yards from homes in the area, but residents said they saw nothing when they went to investigate during the night noise made by the craft's im pact. - Killed in the crash were Mrs. Mildon's husband, Ed ward, 46, and Sgt. and Mrs. William J.
