This chemical was developed at USDA's Western Utilization Research and Development Division, Albany, Calif., and the Food and Drug Adminis tration has given approval for its use. as an additive to de hydrated alfalfa meal. Caro tene, the compound responsi ble for vitamin A,' is stabilized by EMQ so that only 30,000, 000 units are lost by oxida tion instead of the 100,000,000 units lost when it is not used. EMQ also preserves the com pound xanthophyll and vita min D, both important for livestock, it is . reported in Agricultural Reserch (Oct.). TRUE CONFECTION New Haven, Conn. Two Accidents Reported To Police This Morning Two accidents were report ed to Oregon state police yes terday morning. At 6:30 a.m. a car operated by Robert Watson Bear, 22, of Myrtle Creek, failed to make the curve near Neil creek, south of Ashland, strik ing a tree on the right should er of the road. - ; According to police, Bear and his passenger, Alben De lion Montgomery, 19, of Myrtle Creek, were both thrown from the car but were not injured. The vehicle was demolished. Police reported that appar ently Bear went to sleep while driving. , ' The second accident, also Weapons Display Draws Big Crowds Bristow, Okla. - (DPD - Guns hold an unusual fascination for people, as the Bristow Na tional Gun Show proves every year. . T. More than 20,000. visited the 1958 .show. They saw more than 10,000 guns valued at ;-$2 million displayed by about 200 dealers from 36 states. This year's 'exhibit, featured collections from some 250 dealers in 40 states.' The Bristow show was founded six years ago and since then it has become ,the largest gun show to be held outside Chicago. Two Bristow sportsmen, Jim Weaver and Ted Herman, started it. The first one was held in an old school building with 30 entries. The only charges connected with the sh&w are ior table rentals to the gun dealers who exhibit their collections. No admission is charged. The displays include both modern and antique guns, ranging in value from $10 to $5,000. About 90 per cent of the weapons are in firing con dition. . The Mann vehicle was then pushed into a coupe operated by Leslie Elmore, 53, of 936 Winchester ave. Police said the Mann vehicle had a damaged rear bumper and trunk. The Clement ve hicle, which had to be towed from the scene, was heavily damaged in the front. State police notified 'Ro berta Clement that a com plaint would be filed against her in district court for fol lowing too close.
