The group decided to spon- sor the cancer drive in the community with Mrs. Vic Van de Weghe to act as chairman. The practice of awarding popsicles to the room having the begt parental attendance at meetings will be discontin ued because it failed to Cchieve its purpose. The majority ruled, also, to hold the PTA meetings every 'second month during this term and, provided in case of important matters to call a special meeting at that time. Burns announced that the .'project of moving the swings at the school was completed, -whenwAl Simmen headed a 'committee of workmen which included H. G. Ice cream, cake, punch and candy were served to Ann and Stevie Ceecato; Kim and Ricky Killingsworth, Rhonda Rainwater, Bobby and Susan Ferguson, Lori Ann Nunes and Reylin Middleton. Mothers present were Mrs. Pat Killingsworth, Mrs. Ro land Rainwater, Mrs. Robert Ferguson, Mrs. Michael Nunes and Mrs. Dick Erhart. Thursday, Oct. 1, the mem bers of the Bridge club drove to the home of Mrs. Frank Qhlund's on Cotton wood creek, northwest of Horn brook. High prize was won by Mrs. Art Blanchard, second high by Mrs. Frank Graves and low by Mrs. H. G. Thomp son. Other ladies playing were Mrs. Fred Haynes, Mrs. Er nest Spannaus, Mrs. M. G. King, Mrs. Al Simmen. Mr. and Mrs. William Span naus and children, Jane and Gary, of Oroville were guests last week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. . Ernest Span naus. They spent the time buck hunting on the Bogus mountain area but had no luck. j Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Span naus spent this week end at the William Spannaus home in Oroville. Mr. and Mrs. Marius De Meyer of Eureka spent the first week end of the hunting season at the Rodney Eastman home here and with other friends and relatives in Yreka. ILLINOIS VALLEY Family Hurt By MARGARET M. CROWL Cave Junction Mr. and Mrs. James Gill of Burbank, Calif., and sons, James and Joan Gill, were treated for cuts and bruises last week after the car in which they riding went out of control on Highway 199 and struck a tree at the north edge of Cave Junction. ' State police blamed the ac cident on slick pavement. The Illinois Valley Rock club met at the home of Mrs. Alice Hogue in ,Kerby last week with 16 members pres ent. Mrs. Elsie Street, who teaches at ' the James Boys Home on the Holland rd., ask ed each member to bring a rock sample to start a new collection for a Wilderville boy who lost his collection in the forest fire which de stroyed his this summer. Assisting the hostess, Alice Hogue, was Mrs. Sam Burch. They served sandwiches, pic kles, ! olives,, ice cream and cake, and coffee. Mrs. Royal - Swansen and son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor, of Mo desto, Calif., vere guests of Mr. and Mrs. Les Reagle last week. Here for the deer hunting and to ' visit their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Owens, are Mr. and Mrs, Charles Webster. The four will hunt in easten Oregon as well as in this area.;. Randolph Collier, Crescent City, Don McNeil, Jackson County-Chamber of Com merce manager, reported. The dinner, sponsored by the California Press Photog raphers' association, was in honor of Senator Collier's public service and for his con tributions toward improving the northern California public highway system.
