(Knackstedt photo) Lively Bidding For There was heavy competi tion for three tracts of timber offered for oral auction sale by the Medford district of the bureau of land management. The bidding brought tb sell ing price of the 13,828,000 board feet of timber to $510,037.40. ' ;'. Chiloquin Timber company of Klamath Falls was high bidder for two tracts located near Buck lake in western Klamath county. The total bid for the 8,236,000 board feet included in the two tracts was $342,651.75, an average of $41.60 per thousand board feet for Douglas-fir, $65 per thousand for ponderosa pine, $61.25 per thousand for sugar pine and $23.05 per thousand for white fir. Five other oper ators qualified to bid on each tract. K. and C. Timber company of Wolf Creek made the high est off er of the three bidders competing for a tract contain ing 5,592,000 board feet in Elk Valley creek in south western Douglas county. They bid $33 per thousand board feet for the Douglas-fir and $167,385.65 for tht tract. The next sale by the Med ford district of the bureau will feature small salvage sales, according to John Car negie, district sales officer. One of these small sales is lo cated near Prospect in north east Jackson county and the other five are in Wolf Creek Cow Creek area of northern Josephine and southern Doug las counties. Doctors Keep Vigil Over Twins Portland, Ore. - (DPD - Doc tors kept vigil Saturday at the bedside of Siamese twins separated Tuesday by surgery hopeful that five days of sur vival indicated recovery. One of the three-month-old twins Jeanett Kim Stubble- field - had reached a critical condition with lung conges tion twice since the operation and was kept alive by arti ficial respiration. - . Her sister, Dennett Linn', has progressed more rapidly toward recovery.: Both have been able to be bottle fed, but doctors at Oregon Medical School hospital say the babies need careful watching. They are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. James Stubble field, of Parma, Idaho. Hood River Traffic Victim Identified Hood River (DPD - A pedes trian killed in traffic on U.S Highway 30 last week near here has been identified as Adolph Hardegger, 75, Port land.
