Unit Has Lesson On Home Color Mrs. Ronald Nelson and Mrs. Ralph Lacy gave a lesson on color in the home at a meeting of Reese Creek Home Extension unit in the home of Mrs. James Duncan, Sams Valley. Members chose color schemes to match swatches of cloth distributed to the group Guests at the meeting were Mrs. Albert Hefley, Eagle Point: Mrs. John W. Sniders, Camp White; and Mrs. Ken neth Shaw, and Mrs. Don Clark, Reese Creek. The Shaws recently moved from California to a ranch they purchased on Reese creek. Medford Woman Writes Poetry For Oregonian A poem by a Medford resi dent, Mrs. Almus (Dorothy) Pruitt, appears in today's is sue of The Oregonian. En titled "Oregon Dusk," the poem was written as special tribute to the Oregon scene for the Centennial year. Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt owned and operated the Pruitt's Mu sic Center, Medford, for a number of years Mrs. Puitt was a member of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival com pany and appeared in several early productions. Her writings have appeared in such magazines as Ladies' Home Journal, Everywoman s magazine and Woman maga zine, London, England. 4 Faculty Member To Be Speaker Miss Helene Robinson, Ash land, will speak on "The de velopment of musical style of the classical period" at the regular meeting of Rogue Val ley district of Oregon Music Teachers association October 12 at 7:45 p.m. Miss Robinson is on the music faculty of Southern Oregon college. Sister Conta Mary will play the principal piano in "The Concerto in C" by Mozart and Sister Mary Laurene will play the second piano. Sister Miriam Joseph will discuss the approach to the "inaccuracy program." The meeting will be held at St. Mary's academy near the Ivy street entrance and all in terested teachers are invited. He will speak at the Rogue Valley Country club Tuesday, October 27, at 6:45 p.m. Res ervations must be made by October 24, according to Mrs. Richard House, secretary. Mr. Tomlinson. recently re turned to the ' United States from an exhaustive study of conditions in Peru, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Uruguay, Vene zuela, Argentina and Panama. He is also a feature writer for the Washington Daily News. His talk will be entitled "Look Southward, Uncle." Other speakers and dates they will speak here are Wil ly Ley, -"Rockets, Missiles and Space Travel," December 4; Toni Gauer, "An Adven ture in Unique Entertain ment," January 27; and Glubb Pasha, "Middle East - Storm Center of the World," March 1. Ren Taylor spoke at the luncheon meeting of the In surance Women of Jackson County held October 6 at the Jackson hotel. Mr. Taylor, of the Taylor- Salade agency, Medford, spoke on the urgent need for education in the insurance in dustry. He outlined what was being done toward education in Oregon and what needed to be done The business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Lois Stephen. Health Unit Hears Report On Project Gold Hill - Mrs. Meta Pow ers was hostess for a meeting of the Gold Hill Health unit at her home on Highway 99 north, October 6. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Arthur Boye and Mrs. Ted Schoenemann, president of the unit, who al so conducted the . business session. Mrs. Harry Quinn reported on the flood control,, and wa ter resource association. In response, members of the unit voted to send a letter to Con gressman Charles Porter, stating that the group favors having the Rogue River Basin flood control project handled as a wnoie instead of piece - meal program. Mrs. Roy Cameron told of various activities of the Jack son County Health and Tu berculosis association. Annual Party The unit accepted an invi tation from the Amethyst Re bekah lodge inviting the group to assist that organiza tion with the annual teachers' party. Mrs. . Schoenemann, Mrs.Boye and Mrs. Darrcll Ross will serve on the com mittee for this affair, in be half of the unit. Mrs. Paul Molloy was named chairman for the skit, which will be presented by members of the Health unit for the occasion. A food sale will be given sometime in December.
