Stafford, 1914 Westerlund drive. Mr. Budd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Budd, San Marino, Calif. The Budd-Staff,ord rites were held August 8 in St. Mark's Episcopal church. July and August have become popular months for brides in recent years, not only in the Rogue Valley but throughout the United States. ( . Four valley brides were married last week in St. Mark's and Trinity Episcopal churches in. Medford and Ashland. Largest of these rites was the Sunday wedding of Miss Suzanne Reichstein and Alan Louis Keaton, attended by more than 300 relatives and friends. r x Another bride, Suzanne Lela Johansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Johansen, 24 Myrtle street, chose August 9 for her wedding as it is her mother's birthday." Another wedding held last week end at Medford Friends church was on the anniversary of the bridegroom's parents. The date was chosen by Charlotte Ann . Lambert, Medford, when she married Jack James Magel, Portland, August 8. r Regardlessof the month brides still have traditions. At the Keaton-Reichstein wedding Suzanne carried an heirloom handkerchief belonging' to Mrs. John' Day which had originally belonged to her mother, Mrs. Reginald Parsons. The handkerchief was carried last. year by the Days' daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Day. Another tradition of many valley brides is the cutting of the wedding cake with the knife owned by W, J. Warner. The knife has been used by more than 80 brides' of the area. r if " dFT ; t r' . ' ''i' ' ' Brides need a helping hand with bouffont gowns following the ceremony. . Above Mrs. William W. Speer, Crescent. City, Calif.,'who was matron of honor for her sister, assists as the bride enters a car following the rites. The couple are Mr. and Mrs. John William Gustafson Jr., who will make their home at 1056 South Grape-street following a wedding trip to Mexico City. Mrs. Gustafson is the former Nancy Lee Rutledge, 748 West Fourth street, first grade teach er at Oak Grove Elementary school. Mr. Gustafson is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Prior to the service the younger members of the wedding party attracted the most attention. Pictured above little Steven Johansen, Portland, nephew of the bride, took his duties as ring bearer seriously as he left for the church followed by the" bride. The flower girls, Kristen and Randi Johansen, Portland, nieces of the bride, were careful not to muss their dresses.
