Gault-Cook W riding Rites Held at Church An event of Saturday, July 23, was the wed dine of Miss Barbara Jeanne Cook to Da vid Weldon Cault, held at eight o'clock in the evening at First Christian church. The . bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Cook, Route 3, Medford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr, and Mrs. Koward Gault, 3426 Delta Waters road, The marriage ceremony was read by the Rev. Ward . A. Rice, Eugene, with the , Rev. William C. Piper of the . Medford church assisting. About 200 guests were pres ent for the double-ring rites. Arrangements of pink and white gladiolus formed a flo- . ral background for the wed ding party and six large can delabra held white tapers. Tall candelabra decorated with bows and clusters of blossoms formed an archway at the rear of the sanctuary through which the bridal par ty entered the center aisle. Miss Shirley Hardy, Top- penish. Wash., was organist, and Mrs. Ralph Matlack, Med ford, sang. The bride's "gown was a Camll original fashioned with lace bodice and billowing tulle skirt. The bodice was designed, with sculptured neckline and short sleeves, Her finger-tip length veil was held by a crown of seed pearls an-", she carried a cas cade of stephanotis and small ivy leaves centered with a white orchid. The pearl and diamond earrings she wore were the bridegroom's gift. Miss Deanna Cook was her sister's maid of honor. Also attending the bride were Mrs. Richard Loros, Miss Gretch- ' en Kehrli, Eugene, and Miss Lois Ballenger, Grants Pass. Their ballerina typj frocks . were made with bodices of white embroidered nylon over taffeta skirts accented with pink taffeta cummer . bunds and large bows. Their - head bands were of pink vel vet and they carried nosegays of pink roses and white car nations. The attendants white gloves and pearl earrings were cif ts from the bride. Laurie Matteson, Table Rock, a cov.sin of the br'de groom, was flower girl. She wort a frock of white embroi dered organdy over pale green taffeta and carried a tiny nosegay of flowers. Mr. Cook gave his daugh ter in marriage and Ron Jan son, Klamath Falls, was best man for the bridegroom. Seat ing the guests were Don Gor don, Ben Gault, brother of the bridegroom, and William Braden, Pullman, Wash. Mont Cook, the bride's brother, and Jim Gault, brother of the bridegroom, lighted the candles. The reception followed in the church reception rooms, decorated with pink candles and floral arrangements. The bride's table was covered with a lace cloth over pink, the cloth being draped in scallops caught with flowers and ribbon bows. Mrs. R. H. Gandee, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake, assisted by . Mrs. C. N. Stiger. the cake was cut with a silver knife which was a present from - Miss Pauline Alderman, San Francisco, friend of the bride's parents. The knife was engraved with the couple's names and the wedding date. Miss Wilma Bench, Phoe nix, poured -unch and Mrs. Bradley Morris, Sigma Kappa sorority sister of the brid3, presided at the guest book. Janice. Gault, sister of the bridegroom, and Ron and Greg Gandee, cousins "f the bride, took charge of the gifts. For the event the ride's mother wore a gown of rose , pinl nylot lace ove- taffeta with matching lace accessor ies and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a frock of shadow rose nylon lace with pa pink accessories and orchid cor sage. Mr. Gault and his bride traveled to San Francisco for their honeymoon, the bride wearing a light blue suit with navy , blue irl vhite acces sories and a white orchid cor sage. They will live in Spring field. The bride attended r'ed ford High school, Willamette Cocktail Party Honors Visitors Dr. and Mrs. David Boals and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Har rington were hosts l2st eve ning for a cocktail party which honored Mr. and Mrs. George Harrington. The honored couple, who lived in Medford many years, arrived last week from Phoe and relatives and are in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Thompsen, Modoc avenue. Saturday's party ' was at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Boals, 34 Glen Oak court. The Harringtons were ac companied to Medford by their daughter. Marcia. When ' the family left here about two years ago, Mrs. Harring ton was manager of Rogue Valley Country club. ' university and was graduated from the Universit. of Ore gon. She is a member of Sig ma Kappa sorority and Mu Phi, national honor society for musicians. She has been teaching vocal music -t Red wood Elementary sc'.ool, Grants Pass and this fall will teach elementary music in the Springfield system. Par sons, Falls Church, Va., and their four children, Carolyn, Christy, Robert, and Nancy, are visiting Mrs. Parsons father and aunt. Seth Bullis and Miss Helen Bullis, 15 Florence street. The family flew to San Francisco where they were met July 28 by Mr. Bullis. Also visiting with the Bull- ises is Judy Bullis, . 13-year- old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Bullis Jr., Portland. To morrow the entire group will leave for Diamond lake where they will spend two weeks. Mr. Parsons, Washington, D.C. representative of the General Exhibits and Displays, Inc., of Chicago, will return to Washington, D.C, August 10 and the family will follow August 24. Mr. Bullis and Miss Bullis will drive the family to San Francisco where they will board a plane for the trip East. Visitor Mrs. Edward Clark, Hay- ward, Calif., daughter of Mrs. James Daily, 830 East Ninth street, was honored at a bar becue patio dinner recently at the home of Mrs. Robert Kline, Hillside drive. Mrs. Clark, who is visiting in the valley for two weeks, attended school in the valley and the 11 guests at the recent event were former classmates. Wagners Arrive Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wagner and daughter, Linda, Roslyn Heights, Long Island, N.Y., have arrived in Medford to spend a vacation with Mrs. Wagner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Brown, 14 East Main street. Mr. Wagner is a member of an old Ashland family for whom Wagner creek and Wag ner butte were named. Tommy Clark Leaves For San Francisco Tommy Clark, 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Clark, 827 Park street, left Wednesday by bus for San Francisco to visit his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Mc Donald C. Devaney, and oth er relatives in the bay area. He will return with the Devaneys early in August when they travel to Medford on vacation. A Sunday, August 2, 1959 Newlywed Pair Travels South For Honeymoon Phoenix-Mr. and Mrs. Wal ter Robert Bell are making an extended wedding trip to Phoenix, Ariz., following their wedding in Phoenix Commun ity hall the afternoon of June 28. Mr. Bell is advance agent for West Coast Shows .with headquarters in Los Angeles and has been a frequent visit or in the valley. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. B. F. Smeltzer, Eureka, Calif., and has been employed by the Humboldt county health de partment. For the wedding, performed by the Rev. William Saladin, of First Presbyterian church, the bride wore a white linen sheath dress and a pearl and net head band. Her flower., were chrysanthemums. Her matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Kenneth Grif fith, Eureka, who wore a frock of green linen. Ray Smeltzer, brother of the bride, was best man and Mikel Griffith was ring bearer. Ted Jennings and his daugh ter, Kathy, Medford, provided the wedding music. At the reception in the Community hall, Mrs. Fred Carlson, served the cake which had been made by Mrs. Harland Glasscock. Ray Smeltzer was at the punch bowl and Miss Carlene Carl son, Eureka, presided at the guest book. Among out - of - town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell Bailey, Flint, Mich., and the bride's mother, who wore a blue print dress for the wed ding. The couple will reside in Los Angeles. Newlyweds Live In San Anselmo ' Hilts - Mr. and Mrs. John R. McAtee are making their home in San Anselmo, Calif. Mrs. McAtee is the former Ines Michelon and the cou ple's wedding took place June 20 in First Congregational church in Oroville. Calif. The bride is the daughter bf Mr. and Mrs. John Michelon. Attending the bride were her sister, Diane, who was - maid of honor, Miss Carol Phillips, Chico, and Miss Mona Smith, Pacific Grove, bridesmaids. The bridegroom's brother, Jerry, of San Bruno, served as best man and the ushers were James Lenhoff and Dar rell Kister, both of Oroville. The bride is a graduate of Yreka High school and Chica go State college. Mr. McAtee, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mc Atee, Oroville, is also a gradu ate of Chico State college. Miss Jones wedding to William Reinking, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Reinking, Jack sonville, is set for September 13 in Bend, Ore., and she was a guest of the family. Miss Jones was honored at a number of parties during her stay. One was given by members of Jacksonville Royal Neighbors of America at the lodge hall July 21. Hostesses were Mrs. Arthur Davies, Mrs. E. O. Graham, Mrs. Harold Reed and Mrs. Donald Wendt. Decorations were in an oriental theme and dessert was served. About 40 guests attended and showered the bride-elect with gifts for her new home. July 22 Mrs. Alan H. Jew ett, Medford, was hostess for a luncheon at Rogue Valley Country club which honored Miss Jones. Eight guests at tended. Thursday, July 23, Mrs. Paul Culbertson and Mrs. James Grigsby were hostesses for a luncheon at the Country club which honored Miss Jones. Eight guests were also present for this event. The bride-elect is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver R. Jones of Odin Falls ranch near Bend. EST. 1908 Garden Reception Honors James Allen Perry, Bride Mr. and Mrs. James Allan Perry were honored July 27 with a garden reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Eden, 211 Genessee street. The event was held to intro duce Mrs. Perry, the former Marion Emily Swaggart, Portland, to valley friends of. Mr. Perry and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allan F. Perry, 105 Geneva avenue, Medford. The couple were married at the Montavilla Methodist church, Portland, on July 19, the wedding anniversary of the bridegroom's parents. The Rev. Walter Warner officiated at the double ring ceremony held at five o'clock in the afternoon. Nearly 200 rela tives and friends attended. Mr. and Mrs. Wavne L. Swaggart. Portland, are the bride's parents. White gladiolus and stock with pink flowers decorated the church for the ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white embroidered organdy with taffeta detail. She car ried a white prayer book with white orchid and stephanotis. Mis Janet Perrv. sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Kay JoAnn Swanson, and Miss Patricia Kriesel, both Port land, and bridesmatron was Mrs. Paul Clement, seatue. They wore pink silk organza nver rose taffeta""frocks with matching accessories and car ried sweet peas and baby rose buds. Donald McNeill, Portland, served as best man. Seating the guests were J. Michael Talbot, Portland; Michael ue vore, Medford; and Kenneth Swaggart, Portland, brother of the bride. Mrs. Perry wore a beige silk frock with green accessories. Their corsages were white cymbidi um orchids with gold centers. The couple traveled south along the coast to Medford where they spent several days with the Perrys. Pouring for the three hour evening reception Monday were Mrs. Frances Flinn, Mrs. Lorraine Hall, aunts of the bridegroom, Mrs. J. A. Mc Dougall, Mrs. Stanley Philips, Michael Devore, and Mrs. H. Chandler Drew. Mrs. John Horner also as sisted with the serving. Approximately 125 relatives and friends attended the re- "ception here. i The bride is a graduate of Oregon State college and was a teacher in the Portland pub lic schools. Mr. Perry, mem ber of a well-known valley family, is a graduate of the University of Oregon and is a lieutenant in the United States Air Force. The couple left Portland Friday by plane for Washington, D.C, where they will make their home for the next two years. Judge George Tyler offi ciated at the single ring cere mony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Middleton. She is a graduate of the local school and of Yreka High school. She is employed at the Hilts store. Mr. Nunes is the son -bf Mr. and Mrs. John Nunes whose home is on Highway 99, south of Hornbrook. He is employed at the Fruit Grow er's Supply company. The newlyweds are living on Mt. Vie.w street. Thursday evening a wed ding supper at the home of the bride's parents was at tended by the immediate fam ily. They are, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Middleton Jr. and two girls; Richard and Darrell Middleton, the bride and bridegroom and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ray Middleton.
